Novelization/Audiobook Review – ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ (Novelization)
Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
As part of the ‘Star Trek’ 60th anniversary celebrations, I’ve decided to check out the movie novelization of ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ by Gene Roddenberry, based on the screenplay by Harold Livingston and the story by Alan Dean Foster. I’m basing my review on the 40th anniversary edition of the movie novelization, which was released in 2019. It’s taken me seven years to check out the 40th anniversary edition, but I’m glad to be checking it out along with the unabridged audiobook read by Robert Petkoff for the TV show’s 60th anniversary. It’s time for another interview with Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken in ‘Doctor Who’), who I saw recently at ‘Wigan Comic Con Summer 2026’ at the Robin Park Sports Centre in Wigan in September 2026. In my latest interview with Sarah, we chat about her dual appearance as Nyssa and Ann Talbot in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Black Orchid’, which was shown in March 1982. Continue reading

Novelization/Audiobook Review – ‘Doctor Who – Empire of Death’
Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
At long last! 🙂 I get to share my latest video with Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken in ‘Doctor Who’)! We recorded this video sketch at the ‘Festival of the Time Lords’ convention at Newark Showground in Newark back in May 2026. It was a great opportunity for me to do a video with Sarah about the fact that there are now two ‘Empire of Death’ books in ‘Doctor Who’, including the BBC Book by David Bishop, featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa, and the Target novelization by Scott Handcock, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby. It’s taken me a while to share this video by going through the ‘Space Babies’, ’73 Yards’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘Empire of Death’ Target novelizations, but I’m glad to be sharing this video with Sarah at last! Thanks to my best friend from school – Stephen Buckley – for being the cameraman when Sarah and I did our video. I hope everyone enjoys the video! 🙂 Continue reading
