As part of the ‘Star Trek’ 60th anniversary celebrations, I’ve decided to check out the movie novelization of ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ by Gene Roddenberry, based on the screenplay by Harold Livingston and the story by Alan Dean Foster. I’m basing my review on the 40th anniversary edition of the movie novelization, which was released in 2019. It’s taken me seven years to check out the 40th anniversary edition, but I’m glad to be checking it out along with the unabridged audiobook read by Robert Petkoff for the TV show’s 60th anniversary. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

At long last! 🙂 I get to share my latest video with Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken in ‘Doctor Who’)! We recorded this video sketch at the ‘Festival of the Time Lords’ convention at Newark Showground in Newark back in May 2026. It was a great opportunity for me to do a video with Sarah about the fact that there are now two ‘Empire of Death’ books in ‘Doctor Who’, including the BBC Book by David Bishop, featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa, and the Target novelization by Scott Handcock, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby. It’s taken me a while to share this video by going through the ‘Space Babies’, ’73 Yards’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘Empire of Death’ Target novelizations, but I’m glad to be sharing this video with Sarah at last! Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for me to share my latest review on the ‘Doctor Who’ Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Rogue’ from Series 14 of the new TV series, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday. It’s taken me about a month and two days to check out this ‘Doctor Who’ Target novelization/audiobook. It’s certainly been a fascinating dive into the world of ‘Rogue’ in prose/audiobook form compared to checking out the TV episode. The book is by Kate Herron and Briony Redman, the original authors of the TV episode. The unabridged audiobook of ‘Rogue’ is read by Dan Starkey, who is well-known for playing the Sontarans in the new TV series and the Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’. Continue reading →

Here we are again with another review of a ‘Doctor Who’ Target novelization/audiobook from Series 14 of the new TV series, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday. Today, it’s time to check out the Target novelization/audiobook of ’73 Yards’ by Scott Handcock, based on the TV script by Russell T. Davies. Scott Handcock was the script editor on ’73 Yards’ as well as for the whole of Series 14 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. He has also directed some Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’, including the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Marc audio stories and ‘The War Master’ audio series, starring Sir Derek Jacobi as the War Master. After doing my in-depth reviews on Series 14 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday, it’s time for us to check out the Target novelizations/audiobooks of the Series 14 ‘Doctor Who’ stories, which were released in 2024 and 2025. They include ‘Space Babies’, ’73 Yards’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’/’Empire of Death’. For the first Target novelization/audiobook on ‘Space Babies’, the book is by Alison Rumfitt, who is brand-new to the Target novelization range of ‘Doctor Who’. Continue reading →

Here we are on the third and final story in the ‘Warriors’ Gate and Beyond’ anthology! The first story was ‘Warriors’ Gate’ itself, where I checked out the 2023 Target novelization along with the 2019 Target audiobook and updated my review accordingly. The second story was the 2021 exclusive-to-audio episode ‘The Kairos Ring’, which is part of the ‘Beyond the Doctor’ audio series and was later included in prose form in the ‘Warriors’ Gate and Beyond’ anthology. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve been revisiting Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series recently. In doing so, I’ve been able to revisit my review of the 2019 BBC Target audiobook of ‘Warriors’ Gate’ by Stephen Gallagher and have updated it accordingly along with the 2023 Target novelization. The 2023 Target novelization is a collection of stories related to ‘Warriors’ Gate’ – all penned by Stephen Gallagher – called ‘Warriors’ Gate and Beyond’. This includes ‘Warriors’ Gate’ itself, ‘The Kairos Ring’ and ‘The Little Book of Fate’. I’ll be sharing my reviews on ‘The Kairos Ring’ and ‘The Little Book of Fate’ in due course. ‘Warriors’ Gate’ is the third and final story in ‘The E-Space Trilogy’ in Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. The 2019 Target audiobook for ‘Warriors’ Gate’ is read by Jon Culshaw, and he’s joined by John Leeson, who voices K-9 in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Continue reading →

At long last! I’ve completed writing up my in-depth reviews on Series 14 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. These reviews are based on me checking out the stories in the Series 14 Blu-ray box set. As we speak, I’m in the process of uploading my reviews on each of the stories in Series 14 to my blog. I aim to share my reviews every week from April to June 2026. It’s taken me a while to write up my reviews on each story in Series 14, but I’m happy to be sharing them on my blog, which includes in-depth thoughts by me on what I think of the stories today compared to when I first viewed back from May to June 2024. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve finished checking out ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ book by Douglas Adams. I read the book along with the audiobook read by Stephen Fry via Audible. It’s been fascinating to check out the first book of ‘The Hitchhiker’s’ franchise compared to checking out the first ‘Hitchhiker’s’ radio series called ‘Primary Phase’. I purchased the 42nd anniversary edition of ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ book, which also includes a foreword by Russell T. Davies, who is the showrunner for ‘Doctor Who’, both from 2005 to 2010 and lately from 2023 onwards. Continue reading →
