At long last! 🙂 I get to share my latest video with Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken in ‘Doctor Who’)! We recorded this video sketch at the ‘Festival of the Time Lords’ convention at Newark Showground in Newark back in May 2026. It was a great opportunity for me to do a video with Sarah about the fact that there are now two ‘Empire of Death’ books in ‘Doctor Who’, including the BBC Book by David Bishop, featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa, and the Target novelization by Scott Handcock, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby. It’s taken me a while to share this video by going through the ‘Space Babies’, ’73 Yards’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘Empire of Death’ Target novelizations, but I’m glad to be sharing this video with Sarah at last! Thanks to my best friend from school – Stephen Buckley – for being the cameraman when Sarah and I did our video. I hope everyone enjoys the video! 🙂

Anyway, today it’s time to check out my latest review on the ‘Doctor Who’ Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Empire of Death’ by Scott Handcock, which is based on the Series 14 two-part finale ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’/’Empire of Death’ by Russell T. Davies in the new TV series. This story features the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday as well as Melanie Bush, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Rose Noble, the U.N.I.T. team and Sutekh. I’ve greatly enjoyed checking out this Target novelization/audiobook on the Series 14 two-part finale, especially as it contains material that was cut from earlier drafts of the TV scripts. It’s been a fascinating Target novelization/audiobook to read and listen to.

The unabridged audiobook of ‘Empire of Death’ is read by Susan Twist, who played Susan Triad in ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’/’Empire of Death’ as well as various other characters throughout Series 14 of the new TV series. This is the second time I’ve come across Susan Twist reading a Target novelization for ‘Doctor Who’ and she’s reading the second one by Scott Handcock in the neo-Russell T. Davies era so far, as the first one was ’73 Yards’. With the Target novelization containing extra material compared to what’s in the TV adventure, does it mean it’s very satisfying to read and listen to? Would it surprise you that there are Zarbi on the planet Vortis from ‘The Web Planet’ in this Target novelization? Yeah! Seriously!

I’m going to be taking a break from checking out Target novelizations of ‘Doctor Who’, as I need to finish my in-depth reviews on Series 15 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series before checking out the Target novelizations of ‘The Robot Revolution’, ‘Lux’ and ‘The Well’. Hopefully, I’ll be checking out those Target novelizations soon. I’ll soon be sharing a review on the movie novelization of ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ by Gene Roddenberry, which I’m looking forward to checking out as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of ‘Star Trek’.
