Last weekend, my Mum and I went to Wigan. We attended the ‘Wigan Comic Con Summer 2026’ at the Robin Park Sports Centre. We had a great time that weekend. The comic con itself was a very fun-filled day with meeting special guests from ‘Doctor Who’.
There were three guests of interest for me to see at the comic con. This included Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Sophie Aldred (Ace) and Guy Siner (who played Ravon in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Genesis of the Daleks’) and is best well-known for playing Lt. Gruber in ‘Allo, ‘Allo!’.
I’m pleased I got to see Sarah Sutton and Sophie Aldred at the comic con in Wigan, and it was lovely to meet Guy Siner for the first time. I got to chat with the three guests at their signing tables and have photos with them. I also got to do another interview with Sarah. 🙂
At the comic con, I took photos of some ‘Doctor Who’ characters on display. This included K-9, a Silent, a 1980s Cyberman, a classic grey Dalek, a white New Paradigm Dalek and an Ood. I believe I saw those characters at ‘Festival of the Time Lords’ back in May.
My Mum and I took the opportunity to have a couple of photos by the TARDIS at the comic con. Mum got to step inside the TARDIS whilst I stood outside posing for the photos. It was fun to do that. 🙂 I’m glad the TARDIS interior lit up for Mum whilst she stood in the blue box.
It was lovely to see Sarah Sutton, my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion at the ‘Wigan Comic Con’. We had some lovely chats, including about how we stayed overnight in Wigan. Sarah stayed overnight at a Premier Inn whilst I stayed overnight at a Holiday Inn.
Sarah signed my CD box set cover of ‘The Lost Resort and Other Stories’ (which includes the stories ‘The Lost Resort’, ‘The Perils of Nellie Bly’ and ‘Nightmare of the Daleks’). I’m glad I’ve had ‘The Lost Resort and Other Stories’ signed by Sarah since hearing the stories in 2021.
I had a couple of selfies taken with Sarah at the comic con. My cuddly toy dog Cuddles got to be in the selfies too. 😀 Later that afternoon, I had a professional photo of me and Sarah taken by Ghostlit Photography. I’m pleased with how well the photo has come out.
As established, I got to do another interview with Sarah at the comic con. On this occasion, I interviewed Sarah about her dual appearance as Nyssa of Traken and Ann Talbot in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Black Orchid’. 🙂 I enjoyed doing the interview with Sarah.

It was great to see Sophie Aldred again at another convention this year. I had a nice time chatting to Sophie, particularly on her ‘Ace’s Odyssey’ podcast series, which I listened to recently via the episode with Sarah Sutton. She was pleased to hear that I checked it out.
Sophie signed my hardback copy of her ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘At Childhood’s End’. It’s been a while since I read and listened to the book back in 2020, but I’m glad Sophie signed my copy for me, and it was very nice to chat to her about it in connection to Ace’s timeline. 🙂
I told Sophie that I’m looking forward to seeing her as the narrator for an upcoming performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ with Colin Baker at the ‘Christmas with the Doctor’ convention in Andover in November. Sophie has yet to do the rehearsals, but I’m sure she’ll be great. 🙂
I had a couple of selfies taken with Sophie at the comic con, which I’m very pleased about. I also had a professional photo taken with Sophie that afternoon. Like with the professional photo I had with Sarah, I’m happy the photo I had with Sophie came out well.
I’m very pleased to have met Guy Siner for the first time at a convention. It was lovely to chat to him about his guest appearance as Ravon in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, and I got to have my DVD cover of the TV story signed by Guy at the convention.
As well as chatting to Guy about ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, it was great to chat to him about ‘Allo, ‘Allo!’. It was fascinating to hear from him how he didn’t find a comparison between his roles in ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Allo, ‘Allo’, since one is a sci-fi drama and the other is a comedy.
I also got to chat to Guy about his guest star appearance in one of the episodes of ‘The Brittas Empire’. I’m pleased he recalled doing that episode. It’s also interesting when Guy shared how he’s often invited to sci-fi and film events far more than comedy events.
I got to have a selfie taken with Guy at the comic con and later that afternoon, I had a professional photo taken with him. It took a while for the photos to be printed and put into frames (half an hour to be exact), but the quality of the photos are so well put-together.
I didn’t take many photos of cosplayers at the comic con, though there were plenty to see, including ones dressed up as Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from the ‘Transformers’ movies as well as Power Rangers. 🙂 I did take a photo of R2-D2 from ‘Star Wars’ at the event.
At 13:30 in the afternoon, there was a Q&A panel talk with Sophie Aldred and Sarah Sutton, which I enjoyed. I got to ask the first question at the comic con, which is great! 🙂 I asked Sophie and Sarah on whether Ace and Nyssa would work well if they ever team up.
I’m pleased with the answer they gave at the Q&A. They answered positively by saying that Ace and Nyssa would work very well together in ‘Doctor Who’. I know we’ve had Ace and Tegan in ‘The Power of the Doctor’, but I’d love to see Ace and Nyssa team-up in a story. 🙂
The ‘Wigan Comic Con Summer 2026’ was an enjoyable day out for my Mum and me when we went to the event last weekend. I wish the day was longer, as it began from 10:00 and finished at 16:00. But it was still very lovely to see Sarah Sutton and Sophie Aldred again. 🙂
It was also good to meet Guy Siner for the first time and have a lovely chat with him. I’m pleased to have had selfies and professional photos with the three guests I saw at the comic con, and I’m glad I got to do an interview with Sarah Sutton about ‘Black Orchid’. 🙂
I’m looking forward to attending the ‘Christmas with the Doctor’ convention in November. I’ve told Sarah that I’ll be going to the event in style, including wearing a Christmas jumper. I also hope to enjoy Sophie Aldred with Colin Baker in ‘A Christmas Carol’ on the day itself.
