Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s been a while since I reviewed the two Disney shorts films featuring the Tortoise and the Hare. So, let’s follow that up with me doing a quick review on the 1993 short film ‘Three Little Pigs’. I’ve very fond memories of seeing this little Disney short film as a kid. 🙂
Like the two Disney ‘Tortoise and the Hare’ films, I first saw ‘Three Little Pigs’ as part of a ‘Storybook Favourites Shorts’ VHS collection of ‘Silly Symphonies’ cartoons. Mind you, I saw the song ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?’ on a ‘Disney Sing-Along Songs’ VHS first.
The ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?’ song stands out very well for me. This is especially when seeing the two little pigs Fifer Pig and Fiddler Pig making fun of Practical Pig when he warns them about the Big Bad Wolf whilst building his house made of stone and bricks.
Fifer Pig, of course, has his flute and builds his house made of straw whilst Fiddler Pig has his violin and builds his house made of sticks. Both have their houses blown down when the Big Bad Wolf attempts to ambush them and they both end up in Practical Pig’s house.
Fortunately, the Big Bad Wolf can’t blow down Practical Pig’s house and ends up into a vat of boiling water with turpentine added in. 😮 Whilst the Big Bad Wolf is a great comedic villain, it’s strange he dresses up as a sheep and as a ‘Fuller Brush man’ in the short film.
I’ve enjoyed revisiting ‘Three Little Pigs’ on Disney+, especially as the song ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?’ stays with you. Incidentally, Henry Hall did his own version of ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?’ in 1933, which I’ve heard and it’s different from the original. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
