SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve just finished Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’ the TV series via ITVX! 🙂 Like with Seasons 1 and 2, I greatly enjoyed checking out Season 3, which comprises of 23 episodes in total. Melissa Benoist continues to shine as Kara/Supergirl as I watch her in the ‘Supergirl’ TV series.

With that said, things are different in Season 3 that I’m not particularly keen on. For one thing, I miss the theme music that was featured in Seasons 1 and 2. Why did that have to change? Plus, I was hoping for a resolution on the Kara and Mon-El romance from Season 2.

Sadly, it didn’t turn out the way I hoped it would, but the storylines and the character development in every episode continue to be good. And there’s more good than bad to take away from seeing Season 3, especially in terms of the direction this season went for.

In Season 3, Kara recovers from losing Mon-El at the end of Season 2 and struggles to overcome her remorse whilst crime-fighting on Earth. However, a new threat arises when the Kryptonian Worldkillers have come to Earth, including one possessing one of Kara’s friends.

There’s certainly a lot to take in when watching Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’. There are plenty of twists and turns in every episode that I didn’t see coming. It made me engage with the characters and made me want to see more of what’s going to happen next in each instalment. 🙂

Melissa Benoist clearly owns the role of Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Supergirl in the series, as she displays a range of emotions from happy to sad, from anxious to determined, and from angry to compassionate when watching how she tackles the situations in Season 3.

As well as Melissa Benoist in the regular cast, there’s Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen a.k.a. Guardian in the series. It was fascinating to see how Jimmy Olsen continues to take on the superhero role of Guardian in this season and the trials and tribulations he faces.

Chyler Leigh returns as Alex Danvers, Kara’s adoptive sister in the series. Alex too goes through her own trials and tribulations in Season 3 from breaking up with Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer, to wanting to be a mother, to being promoted as the head of the DEO.

Jeremy Jordan returns as Winn in the series. This happens to be Winn’s final season as a regular character in ‘Supergirl’, which is a shame, as I’ve enjoyed his character in the series. He gets to reunite with his mother in Season 3, and he ends up living in the future.

Katie McGrath returns as Lena Luthor. Lena continues to be depicted as a good Luthor, especially when seeking to help her friend and work colleague Samantha Arias in freeing her from Reign persona in the season. However, her trust in Supergirl gets compromised. 😐

In Season 3, we’re introduced to Odette Annable as Samantha Arias, who works for Lena Luthor at Luthor Corp. She has daughter named Ruby, played by Emma Tremblay. Unfortunately, Sam has a dual personality and ends up being the evil Reign in the season.

Chris Wood returns as Mon-El in Season 3. It was quite a surprise to discover that Mon-El ended up living on Earth in the future for seven years before travelling back in time to reunite with Kara. 😐 Mon-El has now married Imra Ardeen, played by Amy Jackson.

David Harewood returns as J’onn J’onzz, who goes on an interesting journey in Season 3. He gets to find and reunite with his father, Carl Lumbly as M’yrnn J’onzz. Carl Lumbly has been in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.

In terms of the rest of the cast, there’s Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El, Kara’s Kryptonian mother. I checked and apparently, it’s a different actress playing Alura in Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’. The character was initially portrayed by Laura Benanti in the first two seasons.

There’s Adrian Pasdar as Morgan Edge, a character I’ve seen in Season 1 of ‘Superman & Lois’ and a rival for Lena Luthor in Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’. Andrea Brooks returns as Eve Teschmacher, and she gets to help Lena Luthor out when solving the Sam/Reign issue. 🙂

Chad Lowe stars as Thomas Coville, who leads a religious group that initially worships Supergirl before they worship the Worldkillers. There’s Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac 5, who’s with Mon-El and Imra. And there’s Anjali Jay as the villainous Selena in the season.

Guest stars in Season 3 include Calista Flockhart makes a brief appearance as Cat Grant at the beginning of this season. A shame we didn’t see more of Cat Grant. 😦 There’s also David St. Lewis as Robert Du Bois/Bloodsport and Yael Grobglas as Gayle Marsh/Psi.

Sharon Leal returns as M’gann M’orzz in the episode ‘Far from the Tree’. Helen Slater (the original Supergirl from 1984) also returns as Eliza Danvers, Kara’s adoptive mum and Alex’s mum, in the episode ‘Midvale’ that focuses on young Kara and young Alex at school.

Apparently, Sarah Douglas (Ursa from the first two ‘Superman’ movies) is in Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’. She plays a character called Jindah Kol Rozz in the episode ‘Fort Rozz’. I had no idea Sarah Douglas was in Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’, especially when she wears a hood. 😀

Brenda Strong returns as Lillian Luthor, Lena’s mother in the episode ‘For Good’. Tim Russ, who played Tuvok in ‘Star Trek: Voyager’, guest stars as Jul-Us in the episode ‘Dark Side of the Moon’. I instantly recognised Tim Russ as soon as I saw him in this episode. 😀

The cast also includes Carlos Bernard as Oscar Rodas, Betty Buckley as Patricia Arias, Sofia Vassilieva as Olivia, Curtis Lum as Agent Demos and Brit Morgan as Leslie Willis/Livewire, Laurie Metcalf (who voiced Andy’s mom in the ‘Toy Story’ film series) as Mrs. Schott and Brooke Smith as Jacqueline Nimball. 🙂

There’s Nesta Cooper as Tanya, Bradley White as Arthur Willis, Benjamin Goas as Val, Kerry Sandomirsky as Felra, Todd Thomson as Lir-Al and Rosemary Hoschchild as Vita. There’s also Esmé Bianco as Thara Ak-Var, who happens to be an old Kryptonian friend of Kara’s. 🙂

In Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’, there’s a crossover event that happens with other DC superheroes in the Arrowverse called ‘Crisis on Earth-X’. This began in Season 3, Episode 8 of ‘Supergirl’ before continuing into other TV shows featured in the Arrowverse franchise. 😐

This includes Season 6, Episode 8 of ‘Arrow’, Season 4, Episode 8 of ‘The Flash’ and Season 3, Episode 8 of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’. Fortunately, I’ve been able to see all four episodes of ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ mostly via ITXV with the last episode on Amazon Prime Video. 🙂

I can’t say that ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ has been a satisfying crossover event to check out, since I’ve not seen ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ as TV shows. I’ve been focusing on the ‘Supergirl’ portions of the storyline. 😐 But it’s been enjoyable to check out. 🙂

As well as Melissa Benoist as Supergirl and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, the cast featured in ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ includes Stephen Arnwell as Oliver Queen/Green Arow, Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/the Flash, Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein/Firestorm, Franz Drameh as Jefferson Jackson/Firestorm, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance, Tom Cavanagh as Harry Wells, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker (who I’ve seen in ‘Sky High’) as Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, Patrick Sabongui as David Singh, Isabella Hofman as Clarissa Stein, Christina Brucato as Lily Stein and Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton. 🙂 There’s a caterer played by Jessica Parker Kenney in ‘Part One’ of this story.

Again, a lot of the characters featured in ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ are ones I don’t know very well, having not seen ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ beforehand. Hopefully, once I finished seeing ‘Supergirl’ as a TV series, I’ll get to check out the other TV shows.

Overall, Season 3 of ‘Supergirl’ has been great to check out. 🙂 I’m looking forward to checking out Season 4 of ‘Supergirl’ next via ITVX. I’ve already seen the opening of the first episode of Season 4, as it’s clear this TV series has made quite an impact on me. 🙂

Melissa Benoist continues to be a highlight for me when checking out ‘Supergirl’ as a TV series. With the storylines and the character development in the series continuing to be very gripping and engaging to watch, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of surprises to enjoy. 🙂
