At last! I’ve finally seen the third and final season of ‘Alex Rider’, the TV series based on the books by Anthony Horowitz! It’s taken me a while to get around to finishing off this amazing action-packed series, but I’m glad I’ve been able to see Season 3 of the TV show.

This year, I’ve been revisiting Alex Rider in its 2006 film ‘Stormbreaker’ and the first two seasons of the 2020-24 TV series. This was so I could get into checking out Season 3 of ‘Alex Rider’ via Amazon Prime Video, which I’d been meaning to watch for some time.

I’m quite sad that Season 3 happens to be the final season of the ‘Alex Rider’ TV series, as I’ve enjoyed checking it out and I hoped more books of the ‘Alex Rider’ series would be adapted in the TV series. But hey, three seasons is a good life for a TV show such as this. 🙂

Season 3 of ‘Alex Rider’ is based on the fifth book of the novel series called ‘Scorpia’. I first read ‘Scorpia’ back in 2006, although it’s been a long while since I read it. Again, I hope I’ll get a chance to revisit the ‘Alex Rider’ books and do in-depth reviews on them via my blog.

There were elements I recognised from checking out Season 3 of ‘Alex Rider’ when comparing it to ‘Scorpia’ the book. This includes Alex essentially joining Scorpia and teaming up with Yassen Gregorovitch, who killed Alex’s uncle Ian in Season 1 of the show.

As well as in ‘Stormbreaker’ the film. 😀 I recall vague details of how Alex’s father John Rider got killed and how the villain Julia Rothman manipulates Alex to join her cause in Scorpia. The TV series does well in keeping up the tension concerning Alex’s journey in Season 3.

In Season 3, Alex is joined by his friends Tom and Kyra, as they go to Malta to search for more information about Alex’s father and the malign agency called Scorpia. However, Scorpia intends to unleash the new super weapon called Invisible Sword upon the world itself. 😐

Alex finds himself put to the test when he ends up going on a personal mission to destroy Scorpia once and for all. Along the way, he discovers disturbing secrets concerning his father and what actually happened when he died concerning the Department and Scorpia.

Incidentally, it’s not MI6 in the ‘Alex Rider’ TV series as I was led to believe. It’s called the Department of Special Operations, under the British Government. Hopefully, I’ll rectify this when I get around to doing my in-depth reviews on the three seasons of ‘Alex Rider’. 🙂

Otto Farrant returns to play Alex Rider in Season 3 of the TV show. Otto Farrant’s performances as Alex Rider excel throughout the series. I greatly enjoyed how he gets to go on a journey of self-discovery regarding his father and how he seeks to destroy Scorpia.

The series also features the return of Stephen Dillane as Alan Blunt and Vicky McClure as Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones herself stands out pretty well in Season 3, especially when her life becomes endangered because of Alex and how she seems connected with John Rider’s death.

Brenock O’Connor returns as Tom Harris, Alex’s best friend, Ronke Adékoluẹjo returns as Jack Starbright, Alex’s legal guardian, and Marli Siu returns as Kyra Vashenko-Chao, Alex’s friend from Point Blanc. It’s nice that Kyra and Alex end up becoming an item in the series. 🙂

The cast also includes the return of Ace Bhatti (from ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’) as John Crawley and Nyasha Hatendi as Smithers. Thomas Levin returns as Yassen Gregorovitch, the assassin that Alex forms a very unlikely partnership with in Season 3. 🙂

New cast members in Season 3 include Kevin McNally (who I’ve seen in the ‘Doctor Who’ stories ‘The Twin Dilemma’ and ‘Flux’) as Max Grendel, Jason Wong as the assassin Nile, and Sofia Helin as the villainous Julia Rothman who persuades Alex Rider to join Scorpia.

There’s also Shelly Conn as Laura Kellner, the ruthless Home Secretary in the British Government who liaises with Alan Blunt and the Department of Special Operations over the Invisible Sword mission. She doesn’t turn out to be as a good person as one might think.

It was nice to see the story in Season 3 ending up in the city of Bath, which I’ve been to. I recognised various landmarks in Bath, including Bath Abbey and the entrance to the Roman Baths. I did my own ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘The Austen Code’ set in Bath itself.

It’s been great to check out Season 3 of the ‘Alex Rider’ TV series on Amazon Prime Video lately. Again, I’m saddened the series ended with Season 3 in 2024, and I know my Mum has enjoyed checking out the ‘Alex Rider’ TV series when we watched it on the TV recently.

The ‘Alex Rider’ TV series is a worthwhile adaptation of the books by Anthony Horowitz. I look forward to when I get a chance to revisit this TV show along with the original ‘Alex Rider’ books. 🙂 When a series has lasted for as long as three seasons, you know it’s good. 🙂
