‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The End of the World’

It’s time to check out the second episode of the new TV series of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The End of the World’ by Russell T. Davies, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. This episode has the Ninth Doctor taking Rose on her first trip in the TARDIS and they go five billion years into the future where they witness the destruction of the planet Earth. The episode’s special guest stars include Zoë Wanamaker as Lady Cassandra, Yasmin Bannerman as Jabe, Jimmy Vee as the Moxx of Balhoon and of course, the Face of Boe. 😀 ‘The End of the World’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Rose’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to the new TV series of ‘Doctor Who’, which started back in 2005! 🙂 It’s time to check out the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era, and we’re starting off with Series 1. We’re also introduced to the Ninth Doctor’s companion: Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, and the first episode of the Ninth Doctor era is of course called ‘Rose’ by Russell T. Davies. There’s also the introduction of Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, Rose’s mum and Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Rose’s boyfriend. This episode also features the dramatic return of the Autons, who were in ‘Spearhead From Space’ and ‘Terror of the Autons’ during the Jon Pertwee/Third Doctor era. ‘Rose’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I know we’re jumping ahead with this one in terms of the TV series’ history for the 60th Anniversary Marathon, but we might as well talk about it here. It’s time to check out ‘The Night of the Doctor’ by Steven Moffat, a special six-minute mini-episode celebrating the 50th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’. Transmitted in 2013, ‘The Night of the Doctor’ stars Paul McGann, who returns to play the Eighth Doctor. This mini-episode also features the regeneration between him and John Hurt as the War Doctor. There’s also Emma Campbell-Jones as Cass, who has reprised the role in a box set of Big Finish audios recently, and there’s Clare Higgins as Ohila of the Sisterhood of Karn. ‘The Night of the Doctor’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray, BBC iPlayer and here via the official ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel. 😀 Continue reading
