Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the third story of Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, based on its ‘Collection’ Blu-ray box set, called ‘Image of the Fendahl’ by Chris Boucher, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela. K-9 is in this story, but unfortunately, he’s only in the first and last episodes of this four-part adventure. Plus, John Leeson doesn’t voice him. It’s sad, but thankfully, K-9 makes a proper appearance in the story after this one. In the meantime, today, I’m sharing my latest and updated thoughts on ‘Image of the Fendahl’, a story about an ancient human skull and the coming of a deadly enemy in the Fendahl with gothic proportions. Let’s check out the second story of Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Invisible Enemy’ by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. Yes! This is where K-9 makes his debut as a ‘Doctor Who’ companion in the classic TV series. Or rather where K-9 Mark I makes his debut. It’s been great to revisit ‘The Invisible Enemy’ on Blu-ray, especially through the CGI effects option. The story is directed by Derrick Goodwin, who makes his only contribution to the classic TV series. Continue reading →

It’s Bank Holiday Monday in August in the UK (England, Wales and Northern Ireland to be precise) in 2024 today. Here’s my updated review on the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Celestial Toymaker’. This updated review is based on the latest in a line of mostly missing black-and-white ‘Doctor Who’ TV stories from the 1960s that have been animated on DVD and Blu-ray for today. The story stars William Hartnell as the First Doctor, Peter Purves as Steven Taylor and Jackie Lane as Dodo Chaplet. This story also features Michael Gough in the titular role of the Toymaker. I’ve just updated my review on the Target novelization ‘Doctor Who and the Horns of Nimon’ by Terrance Dicks. This ‘Doctor Who’ story features the Fourth Doctor, Romana II and K-9 Mark II. I revisited this Target novelization with the latest BBC audiobook read by Geoffrey Beevers, who is well-known for playing the Master and voicing the Melkur in ‘The Keeper of Traken’. There’s also John Leeson who voices K-9 in the audiobook for ‘The Horns of Nimon’ Target novelization. Continue reading →

It’s Easter Saturday today and the 2024 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season continues, as we check out the second ‘Short Trips’ anthology book of ‘Doctor Who’ published by the BBC called ‘More Short Trips’, released in March 1999.
