This is one of my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories from the Tom Baker era and it was the first Fourth Doctor TV story I checked out on DVD in 2006. It’s a well-loved classic. This is ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, a six-part story starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. As well as the Daleks, this story also introduces us to their creator Davros, played by Michael Wisher. ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading →

Here’s the second story of Season 12 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series! 🙂 It’s time for ‘The Ark In Space’, a four-part story starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. It introduces Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, who is joined by Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith as well as Ian Marter, who makes his debut, as Harry Sullivan. It’s time to take a look at the only ‘Doctor Who’ episode from the classic TV series to not feature William Hartnell as the First Doctor, even though he is credited in the cast list. This is ‘Mission to the Unknown’, which serves as a prelude to the 12-part epic story ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’. There are two versions of this story. There’s the original, which can be heard on its TV soundtrack on an audio CD or via Audible, and there’s a new version of the story produced by the students of the University of Central Lancashire, which can be viewed on the ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel.
