‘CONNER’S REPTILES’

This story has Peter Parker/Spider-Man going to Florida to interview Dr. Curt Conner who was once the Lizard. Once again, this story reuses most of the footage from the Season 1 episode ‘Where Crawls the Lizard’. They also redubbed some of the dialogue for the Lizard to be just very intelligent.

Yeah, I probably should explain something here. Dr. Conner doesn’t become the Lizard in this story. It turns out that one of Conner’s lab experiments which is a lizard mutated and became intelligent. Now that’s an interesting idea and it could’ve worked if the animation wasn’t so lazy in its execution.

Most of the time, I found myself recognising certain shots from the ‘Where Crawls the Lizard’ episode incorporated into this one. I found myself going “Seen that!”; “Seen that!”; “Seen that!” all the time when I recognised Spidey fighting the Lizard, even when they’re fighting at the same castle!

Spidey defeats the highly intelligent Lizard, but we don’t get to see it regressed back to what it was as an original smaller lizard. It also feels rushed when Spidey manages to find Dr Conner with his wife and son. The continuity for this series is also debatable regarding Spidey knowing Conner’s son Billy.
