And welcome to ‘Power Month’! 🙂 As I’m celebrating the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ with my 60th Anniversary Marathon on my blog, I’ve also decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ‘Power Rangers’, by sharing my reviews on ‘Power Rangers’ episodes every day for the month of August. I’m hoping to do a ‘Power Month’ review season every year for one month in August as opposed to two months. Today, we begin the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, as we check out the first Christmas Special in the new TV series. It’s time for ‘The Christmas Invasion’ by Russell T. Davies, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose. This Christmas Special also features Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, Rose’s mum, and Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Rose’s former boyfriend. There’s also the return of Penelope Wilton as Harriet Jones from ‘Aliens of London’/’World War Three’. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure introduces us to the Robot Santas as well as the blood-obsessed Sycorax. And welcome to the new TV series of ‘Doctor Who’, which started back in 2005! 🙂 It’s time to check out the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era, and we’re starting off with Series 1. We’re also introduced to the Ninth Doctor’s companion: Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, and the first episode of the Ninth Doctor era is of course called ‘Rose’ by Russell T. Davies. I know we’re jumping ahead with this one in terms of the TV series’ history for the 60th Anniversary Marathon, but we might as well talk about it here. It’s time to check out ‘The Night of the Doctor’ by Steven Moffat, a special six-minute mini-episode celebrating the 50th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’. Transmitted in 2013, ‘The Night of the Doctor’ stars Paul McGann, who returns to play the Eighth Doctor. This mini-episode also features the regeneration between him and John Hurt as the War Doctor. There’s also Emma Campbell-Jones as Cass, who has reprised the role in a box set of Big Finish audios recently, and there’s Clare Higgins as Ohila of the Sisterhood of Karn. ‘The Night of the Doctor’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray, BBC iPlayer and here via the official ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel. 😀 Continue reading

Does this count as a proper ‘Doctor Who’ story? 😐 I don’t know, but I’m going to include it in my 60th Anniversary Marathon anyway. It’s time for ‘Dimensions In Time’, the 30th anniversary story that was released on Children In Need night back in November 1993. It’s a two-part adventure by John Nathan-Turner and David Roden, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor, Sophie Aldred as Ace, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Deborah Watling as Victoria, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Caroline John as Liz, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane, Louise Jameson as Leela, K-9, voiced by John Leeson, Lalla Ward as Romana, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Nicola Bryant as Peri and Bonnie Langford as Mel. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s time for us to have a look at my favourite story out of Season 24 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Bonnie Langford as Mel. Today, it’s time for ‘Delta and the Bannermen’, a three-part adventure by Malcolm Kohll. Most of this story takes place at a holiday camp in South Wales in 1959. There are special guest stars like Don Henderson, Belinda Mayne, Richard Davies, Stubby Kaye, Morgan Dearne, Hugh Lloyd, Sara Griffiths and of course Ken Dodd. This is definitely a classic ‘Doctor Who’ adventure to check out during a summer heatwave. 😀 ‘Delta and the Bannermen’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading
