‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the two-part finale in Series 2 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – David Tennant’s first season as the Tenth Doctor. This ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’ by Russell T. Davies features the last regular appearance of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, along with Camille Coduri as Jackie, Rose’s mum; Noel Clarke as Mickey, Rose’s former boyfriend, and Shaun Dingwall as Pete, Rose’s dad. This ‘Doctor Who’ story is a pretty emotional season finale, and it also features the return of two popular ‘Doctor Who’ monsters battling each other, including the Cybermen and the Daleks. There’s also the introduction of the Torchwood Institute, led by Tracy-Ann Oberman as Yvonne Hartman. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure also features Freema Agyeman, who appears way before she played Martha Jones in Series 3, as Adeola Oshodi, Martha’s cousin. There’s also a brief appearance of Catherine Tate as Donna Noble at the story’s end. 😀 ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Convention Memories – ‘H-Con’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for me to share my memories of seeing Sarah Sutton (Nyssa) and Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor), my two favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars at a convention together. I first met Peter Davison at the ‘Project Motor Mouth 2’ convention, organised by Janet Fielding back in Slough in August 2013. 🙂 Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And thus, we’ve come to the end of Series 1 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series as well as the end of the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era. It’s time for the two-part finale ‘Bad Wolf’/’The Parting of the Ways’ by Russell T. Davies, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor, Billie Piper as Rose Tyler and John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. In this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure, our heroes find themselves back aboard Satellite 5, which has now become the Game Station. They have to play deadly versions of TV game shows like ‘Big Brother’, ‘The Weakest Link’ and ‘What Not To Wear’. Can the TARDIS trio survive the games as well as the return of the Daleks who are about to attack the planet Earth in the year 200,100? ‘Bad Wolf’/’The Parting of the Ways’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Dalek’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, we’re checking out a ‘Doctor Who’ episode that’s very special to me. This was the one that started it all for me. I was introduced to the TV series overall; Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose; and a Dalek for the first time through this episode. It’s time for ‘Dalek’ by Robert Shearman, and I consider it one of the best ‘Doctor Who’ stories ever made in the new TV series. This episode also features the debut of Bruno Langley as Adam Mitchell, who becomes a short-time companion in the TV series. There’s also Corey Johnson as Henry van Statten and Anna-Louise Plowman as Diana Goddard. The Dalek is operated is Barnaby Edwards and the Dalek voice is by Nicholas Briggs. ‘Dalek’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Audio Review – ‘Agents of Chaos’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Our look into John Hurt as the War Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ has been quick so far in the 60th Anniversary Marathon. We finish it off by checking out the third story of ‘The War Doctor’ series of Big Finish audios called ‘Agents of Chaos’. There are more ‘War Doctor’ stories to check out, but this is the penultimate box set audio adventure featuring John Hurt as the War Doctor. I’m sure they will be a point when I’ll be checking out ‘Casualties of War’, the fourth box set audio adventure with John Hurt, as well ‘The War Doctor Begins’ audios featuring Jonathon Carley. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The TV Movie’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the Paul McGann/Eighth Doctor era, which is technically the shortest-lived ‘Doctor Who’ era ever on TV. Thankfully, Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor has had a long life in the Big Finish audios. 😀 Let’s check out ‘The TV Movie’, which was shown on UK and USA TV in May 1996. The ‘Doctor Who’ TV Movie is by Matthew Jacobs and was directed by Geoffrey Sax. As well as Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, there’s Daphne Ashbrook as Grace Holloway, Yee Jee Tso as Chang Lee and Eric Roberts as the Master. This story also features the regeneration between Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor into Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor. ‘The TV Movie’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the 25th anniversary season of ‘Doctor Who’ – Season 25 – starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. We begin with my absolute favourite story from the Sylvester McCoy/Seventh Doctor era called ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’, a four-part adventure by Ben Aaronovitch. This story has the Seventh Doctor and Ace travelling back in time to the year 1963 where they visit Coal Hill School in Shoreditch, London. We’re also introduced to the Counter-Measures team, including Simon Williams as Group Captain Gilmore, Pamela Salem as Rachel and Karen Gledhill as Allison. ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ by Eric Saward, the fourth story in Season 21 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Originally, this story was meant to be a four-part adventure before it became a two-part bumper edition story, with the episodes having lengths of 45 minutes each. The story has Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor fighting against the Daleks, along with their creator Davros, played by Terry Molloy. This story also features the final regular appearance of Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka. Mark Strickson also appears as Turlough, and there’s a special guest star appearance of Rodney Bewes, who was in ‘The Likely Lads’ and ‘Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads’. ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Five Doctors’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’, as we take a look at the 20th anniversary special called ‘The Five Doctors’ by Terrance Dicks. ‘The Five Doctors’ stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, William Hartnell and Richard Hurndall as the First Doctor, Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, and Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. There’s also Janet Fielding as Tegan, Mark Strickson as Turlough, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Lalla Ward as Romana and more. I highly recommend watching the 101-minute Special Edition version of ‘The Five Doctors’, as that has more scenes and CGI effects in it. You can check out the Special Edition version on Disc 2 of the 25th Anniversary 2-disc DVD edition of ‘The Five Doctors’. There’s also the original 90-minute TV version of the story, which can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading
