‘THE DEVIOUS DR. DUMPTY’

Please feel free to comment on my review.

In this ‘Spidey’ story, Peter gets assigned to cover a parade for the Daily Bugle. Thankfully he goes in disguise as Spider-Man and he sits atop a building taking pictures. There’s even a balloon float of Spider-Man in the parade. Spidey is impressed by that. I guess Spidey has some of his fans in New York.

There’s a movie star among the floats whose name sounds like Raquel Welch, I believe. 😀 Her jewels get stolen by a group of thieves, led by the villainous Dr. Humperdinck Dumpty. They use gas to knock out everyone in order to steal the actress’ jewels. Dr. Dumpty happens to be a huge man here. 😀

The story isn’t anything special, although it’s amusing when the band featuring the girl with her open mouth and shaking some maracas from the episode ‘Home’ appears. Spidey even wears a gas mask to protect himself from the gas and it put me in mind of “Are you my Mummy?” from ‘Doctor Who’.

There is a girl at the end of the story that Peter knows called Susan, but she’s like there for mere seconds. I don’t get why this ‘Spider-Man’ cartoon series can’t do a long-lasting relationship for Peter’s character. It’s done well in the 1990s series, how come the 1960s cartoon isn’t sophisticated?

‘The Devious Dr. Dumpty’ rating – 3/10
