This ‘Spider-Man’ episode is a little different and a little more interesting compared to previous efforts. Mind you, there are some story aspects and animation aspects to the episode that make it puzzling. This is especially in terms of when Peter meets up with someone who is exactly like him. 😐

In the episode, Peter Parker is at a ‘Coffee Shoppe’ where he meets a girl called Carol. Carol seems nice enough and seems to be a good dancer. Even though we never get to see Peter and Carol dancing in the ‘Coffee Shoppe’ in the hour that passes! Gosh, that must have been romantic indeed.

By the way, when we visit the ‘Coffee Shoppe’ three times in the episode, we always come back to a shot of the band playing, including a girl with her mouth open, shaking some maracas. If it was once, it’d be okay; if it was twice, it’d be too much; it was thrice, it’d be way over-the-top. Lazy animation!

Eventually, Peter as Spidey meets up with Carol who happens to be stealing something. She also happens to have spider powers like Spidey since she can web-sling and crawl on walls. You might be wondering how Carol can do all that and where she got her powers from. But it’s never explained. 😐

Actually, I take it back, it does sort-of get explained since Carol belongs to an alien race who happen to be Spider-Men. Yep! This episode has Spidey meeting Carol and some Spider-Men who happen to be from outer space. They also have this spaceship as well as this space city that Spidey gets into. 😀

I think the Japanese ‘Spider-Man’ TV series drew inspiration from that, if I’m not mistaken. 😀 I’m not really impressed with the Spider-Men costumes in this episode since they all happen to be green and red. Carol doesn’t even dress up in a Spider-Woman outfit to protect her identity in this TV episode.

Carol can also sense that Peter Parker is Spider-Man under his mask since she used her spider-sense to know it. I don’t think that’s how a ‘spidey sense’ works. It’s not a mind reader or anything. They also have a gigantic robot spider who could be Shelob from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ if they tried it. 😀

The episode also features school-friends Rodney and Sonya, who were in ‘Swing City’. I guess I was wrong. Sonya did come back into the series. I don’t think she’s forgiven Peter for standing her up though. Anyway, ‘Home’ is an entertainingly bizarre ‘Spider-Man’ episode that I did sort-of enjoy. 😀

‘Home’ rating – 7/10
