‘SANDS OF CRIME’

Please feel free to comment on my review.

In this ‘Spider-Man’ story, we’re introduced to the Sandman who I assume is Flint Marko. This is interesting as the Sandman didn’t appear in the 1990s TV series but he did appear in ‘Spider-Man 3’. It was really interesting to see how the Sandman gets depicted as a villain in this ‘Spider-Man’ story.

One night, Spidey examines the Goliath Diamond at a museum. But the Sandman appears and swipes the diamond, letting Spidey get the blame since he was seen by guards. The Sandman demands a $1 million dollar ransom from Jameson. Spider-Man gets caught in the ransom-making. 😐

Thankfully, the Sandman and Jameson outwit each other when Sandman gives a fake diamond and Jameson gives fake money. The Sandman soon doubles on the ransom before Spider-Man fights him at a quarry. Eventually, Spidey gets to defeat the Sandman when he discovers water is his weakness.

I do find Jameson to be vain in this series, especially when he has photos taken of him and when he’s doing interviews. He tries to make out he’s the hero instead of Spider-Man. Peter Parker makes the mistake of not taking any photos of Spidey fighting the Sandman in the quarry for the Daily Bugle. 😮

‘Sands of Crime’ rating – 7/10
