‘MAGIC MALICE’

Please feel free to comment on my review.

In this ‘Spidey’ story, it’s another appearance of the evil Green Goblin again. Although once again, it’s the Green Goblin dabbling in more magic arts instead of technology and science! I do hope that the ‘Spider-Man’ comics were more complex than that regarding the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn.

The Green Goblin escapes under Spider-Man’s wing and he soon attempts to steal Blackwell the Magician’s magic secrets. Blackwell previously appeared in ‘Farewell Performance’ where he was presumed a villain but didn’t turn out to be. I didn’t think we would meet Blackwell again very soon.

Anyway, once he gets Blackwell’s magic book of spells (yes, I am serious here); the Green Goblin uses some magic tricks to rob various places. Spidey tries to thwart the Green Goblin but gets thwarted himself by the magic tricks performed by Goblin. Spider-Man soon visits Blackwell’s house.

There, the Green Goblin plans to steal more secrets and with the help of Blackwell, Spidey gets to defeat his enemy. It’s actually nice for Spidey to have an ally in Blackwell to defeat the Green Goblin. Mind you, Blackwell could easily have been a villain and worked with the Green Goblin if he wanted.

‘Magic Malice’ rating – 7/10
