‘THE WITCHING HOUR’
Please feel free to comment on my review.

In this ‘Spider-Man’ story, we meet the Green Goblin, who I assume is Norman Osborn since his secret identity is never revealed. I’m also pleased that Peter Parker and Betty Brant got to go out on a date together, even though it’s short-lived by the news of the Green Goblin making an appearance.
The Green Goblin swipes a magician’s witchcraft book, hoping to control the demons of the underworld. Yeah, this is the simplistic storytelling again. The Green Goblin is reduced to wanting to have magical powers like an actual goblin. I’m sure the Green Goblin wasn’t like that in the comics.
I also think elements of the 1960s ‘Batman’ TV series are trying to creep into the 1960s ‘Spider-Man’ cartoon, since Spidey has elements of Adam West’s Batman and Burt Ward’s Robin. I’m sure Spidey said a ‘holy’ catchphrase somewhere. I don’t think the ‘Spidey’ stories are as funny as they could be.
In fact, they do seem rather lacklustre. Anyway, Spidey defeats the Green Goblin and helps to save J. Jonah Jameson from being used as a medium to acquire the Sceptre of Osiris. I don’t think the Green Goblin wants to dabble in that. It smells of Sutekh from the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Pyramids of Mars’. 🙂
‘The Witching Hour’ rating – 7/10
