Coda II

SCENE #274 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

JEN
Doctor, can I make a request before we go?

DOCTOR 8
Of course, Jen. Name it.

A moment of silence.

JEN
I don’t want you to think I’m unkind. We’ve had many great adventures together. It’s been fun.

DOCTOR 8
I’m glad to hear it, Jen. It’s been fun sharing adventures with you too.

JEN
But at the same time, I wonder… Could you take me home please?

DOCTOR 8
(surprised) Oh. You want to stop travelling with me?

JEN
Not in that way. (Pause) I miss my family, you see. I haven’t seen them in a while.

DOCTOR 8
Ah, I see.

JEN
Seeing the Brigadier and his daughter say goodbye to each other… I can’t bear the thought of not saying goodbye to my mum and dad should something happen. To them or to me.

DOCTOR 8
You want to make sure your family is okay. I understand that. (Pause) I’d be happy to take you home, Jen. (Pause) We’ll go via the scenic route, shall we?

JEN
(eagerly) Of course. I want to see more of the Universe on our way back. It’s part of the fun.

ROSE
Careful, Jen. The Doctor got me home and I missed a year. My mum was in such a state.

DOCTOR 9
No need to rub it in, Rose.

JEN
Don’t worry, Rose. I’m happy to do things via the scenic route.

DOCTOR 8
There’s so much to see homeward bound. The stars of Krysis E; the temples of Madausalo on the planet Xexeres. There’s also…

JEN
(interrupts) Tell me more about it when we get inside, Doctor.

DOCTOR 8
Yes, of course.

Jen makes her way over to Rose.

JEN
Bye, Rose. It’s been nice knowing you.

ROSE
Ditto. Sorry, I was a pain at times.

JEN
No worries. I’m glad the Doctor has a good friend looking out for him in his future.

ROSE
You’re not bad yourself.

Jen and Rose hug. Soon, Jen turns to the others.

JEN
Bye, everyone else.

DONNA
Bye, darling.

RORY
Hope you get back home safely.

YAZ
Don’t let your Doctor be too distracted on the home journey.

JEN
It’s been great to meet you too, Doctors. I’m amazed you’re all the same person.

DOCTOR 10
That’s the thing about the Universe, Jen. It’s full of surprises.

JEN
(intrigued) It’s funny, I swear I’ve seen you somewhere before. Have we met before?

DOCTOR 10
(teasingly) Who can say, Jen? Who can say?

DOCTOR 8
Come along, Jen. Into the TARDIS we go.

KATE
Goodbye, Doctor; Miss Ward. Look after yourselves.

DOCTOR 13
(cheerfully) See you around, Doctor.

Jen and the Eighth Doctor enter their TARDIS. Soon, the Eighth Doctor’s TARDIS chuffs, whooshes and groans, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

DOCTOR 9
There was a lot of life in him.

DOCTOR 10
Indeed, there was. And we had so many friends when we were him. Jen, Grace, Charley, Lucie…

DOCTOR 11
…Sam, Fitz, Izzy, Mary Shelley…

DOCTOR 12
…C’rizz, Tamsin, Molly, Liv and Helen.

DOCTOR 13
So many friends to share adventures with. How we miss those days.

SCENE #275 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (EIGHTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

JEN
Amazing you have so many friends past and future, Doctor.

DOCTOR 8
Friends old and new, and I salute them. All a good bunch. And you’re one of them, Jen.

A tender moment of silence.

JEN
So, where are we going first on our homeward bound journey?

DOCTOR 8
How about visiting Jane Austen in your Earth’s past?

JEN
Didn’t you meet Jane Austen before?

DOCTOR 8
A couple of times, but who’s counting?

A white light begins to envelop the console room. Soon, the white light envelops the Eighth Doctor and Jen.

Sting music. Roll original 1996 Paul McGann titles sequence with 2001 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #276 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 9
You know, I’m amazed we can tell which TARDIS is which.

DOCTOR 10
Me too. Though the green lighting in my TARDIS isn’t as pronounced compared to yours.

DOCTOR 9
Yeah, I might consider toning down the lighting in my TARDIS once me and Rose get in.

DOCTOR 12
We’ve all had to readjust the TARDIS settings now and again.

DOCTOR 13
Tell me about it. I was thinking about redecorating the TARDIS before we came here. Right, Yaz?

YAZ
Definitely. It’s so surreal that one conversation about redecorating the TARDIS led me, Dan and the Doctor to this place.

DONNA
The conversation Spaceman and I had was about bees disappearing.

RORY
Ours was about getting back home to see and check up on my dad.

AMY
(reassuringly) We’ll get back to him soon, Rory, you’ll see.

BILL
The Doctor and I still need to come up with an excuse for Nardole on where we’ve been once we get back on Earth.

DOCTOR 12
What an excuse it will be indeed.

ROSE
This has been the strangest trip I’ve ever had in Space and Time. Seeing so many of you Doctors and your friends.

DOCTOR 10
Don’t worry, Rose. You’ll forget this once you and your Doctor leave.

ROSE
Do I end up travelling with you? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.

DOCTOR 10
Oh, believe me, Rose. Your travels are going to be better from here on out.

DOCTOR 9
They’re already are with me. Travelling with you, Rose, has been the happiest I’ve had so far.

ROSE
Thanks. I’ve been happy too. (Pause) You’ll still remember me after I’m gone, right?

DOCTOR 11
We never forget our friends, Rose.

DOCTOR 12
That’s why we travel with them. To keep the memories alive.

DOCTOR 13
Every life we touch is precious. We wouldn’t want it differently.

YAZ
(pleased) It’s so nice to hear you say that, Doctor.

A tender moment of silence.

DOCTOR 9
(cheerily) Well, cheerio, everyone.

DOCTOR 13
Yeah, take care, Doctor. You and Rose.

DOCTOR 10
You’re special, Doctor. Remember that.

DOCTOR 11
We know how much you suffered during the Time War.

DOCTOR 12
Trust us when we say, it will get better for you as life goes on.

DOCTOR 9
(pleased) Thanks, Doctors. I appreciate getting a glimpse of my future to be told that.

KATE
Good luck, Doctor; Miss Tyler.

DOCTOR 9
See you soon, Kate. And don’t worry. You and your father are fantastic!

The Ninth Doctor opens his TARDIS with his key.

ROSE
See ya, Donna; Amy; Rory. Same to you, Bill; Yaz; Dan.

DONNA
Take care, Rose. See you around.

The Ninth Doctor and Rose enter their TARDIS. Once the doors are shut, the Ninth Doctor’s TARDIS chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

SCENE #277 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (NINTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

ROSE
Doctor, what the other Doctors said about you being special. (Pause) They’re right. You are.

DOCTOR 9
(pleased) Thanks, Rose.

ROSE
(gradually) You and I will forget this conversation we’re having. But I wanna say… Travelling with you in Space and Time. Seeing so many wonders of the Universe. I love it!

DOCTOR 9
Me too. (Pause) And can I just say, Rose, that you’re fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

A moment of silence.

DOCTOR 9
And you know what?

ROSE
No, what?

DOCTOR 9
(cheerily) So am I?

The Ninth Doctor and Rose laugh, before a while light envelops them.

Sting music. Roll original 2005 Christopher Eccleston end credits with 2005 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #278 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 10
Captain Magambo. Are you and your soldiers ready to depart?

MAGAMBO
Yes, Doctor. My soldiers are all inside your TARDIS. I’ll check on them before we depart.

DOCTOR 10
Good idea. You know where to find them inside.

The Tenth Doctor opens the TARDIS door for her. Before she goes in, Magambo turns to Kate.

MAGAMBO
It’s been an honour to serve you, ma’am. I’m pleased we worked together as a team.

KATE
So am I, Captain. Thank you for your support.

Magambo salutes Kate before she turns to Osgood.

MAGAMBO
It’s been a pleasure to work with you too, Miss Osgood.

OSGOOD
Take care, Captain. Hope you and your soldiers get back home safely.

Magambo and Osgood shake hands.

MAGAMBO
See you inside, Doctor.

DOCTOR 10
Yeah. Won’t be a jiff.

DONNA
Don’t slip or bump into anything on your way in.

Magambo enters the Tenth Doctor’s TARDIS.

KATE
Thank you, Doctor; Miss Noble.

DOCTOR 10
No, no. Thank you, Kate. We couldn’t have achieved what we did here today without you, your father and everyone in U.N.I.T.

DONNA
I’m gonna miss you all. (Pause) Yaz; Dan, thank you for finding me in New York.

YAZ
No worries. Glad we found you, Donna.

DAN
(teasingly) It wasn’t difficult, mind. You shouting your head off made things easy for us.

DONNA
Oy, cheek! You’re lucky I’m still talking to you.

Laughter ensues.

DOCTOR 10
Bye, Doctors. It’s been an honour to be by your side today.

DOCTOR 13
Thanks, Doctor. Been great to see you again too.

DOCTOR 11
See you around, Sand Shoes.

DONNA
(impatiently) Come on then! Are we going or not?

DOCTOR 10
Alright, Miss Bossy-Boots, we’re going.

DONNA
Oy! Less of the ‘Bossy-Boots’.

The Tenth Doctor and Donna enter their TARDIS. Soon, the Tenth Doctor’s TARDIS chuffs, whooshes and groans, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

YAZ
Like Peri and her Doctor…

DAN
…Donna and her Doctor seem to get on each other’s nerves.

AMY
But they enjoy being in each other’s company. I’ve noticed.

RORY
I suppose that’s often the case with some friendships.

BILL
Yeah. Friends get on each other’s nerves, but they still like each other.

DOCTOR 13
Friendships with unlikely people can often be the best ones.

DOCTOR 11
Donna Noble was definitely one of the unlikeliest people we’ve ever had in the TARDIS.

DOCTOR 12
We shall miss her in our travels. Hopefully, she’ll be okay in her future, with or without us.

SCENE #279 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (TENTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

DONNA
I don’t want to stop travelling with you, Doctor.

DOCTOR 10
(amazed) Really, Donna?

DONNA
Really. (Pause) I want to keep travelling with you. In the TARDIS. Us two. Forever and forever.

DOCTOR 10
(saddened) I know. (Pause) Some things can’t last forever, I’m afraid. Even I won’t last forever.

DONNA
Don’t say that. You will last forever. I know you will. You know you will.

DOCTOR 10
Not me as in my future selves, Donna. I mean this ‘me’. The ‘me’ talking to you right now.

DONNA
(solemnly) Right. I get ya.

DOCTOR 10
(gradually) In spite of knowing some of my future, which I’m likely to forget… In spite of the fact that I must keep going… Well…

A moment of silence.

DONNA
Yes, Doctor? What is it?

DOCTOR 10
Putting it simply… Well… (Pause) …I don’t wanna go.

Soon, a white light begins to envelop the Tenth Doctor and Donna. Captain Magambo enters.

MAGAMBO
Doctor; Miss Noble. I’ve checked my soldiers and… What the…?

The white light engulfs them all.

Sting music. Roll original 2007 David Tennant end credits with 2007 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #280 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

AMY
Doctor, remind us, why are we doing this one at a time?

RORY
Yeah, why did it have to be Doctors and TARDISes one at a time to get out of this place? Why couldn’t it have been done all at once?

DOCTOR 13
We have to monitor each Doctor and their friends in their TARDISes exiting the maelstrom one at a time to ensure they’ve exited safely. We’re doing this before Yaz, Dan and I set off Ace’s Nitro-Nine.

DOCTOR 12
If we did it all at once, we’d be scrambling in a rush. We wouldn’t want to get crushed to a singularity.

DOCTOR 11
Besides, doing it this way ensures we’re restoring our relative states in Space and Time. We’re not making more of a mess of things like Salvador and the Valeyard did. And we’ve stabilised the maelstrom’s opening long enough with our TARDISes situated in the Sphere Room.

DOCTOR 12
Admittedly, it’s quite a long-winded way for us to leave…

DOCTOR 13
…But at least we’re keeping each other safe and in one piece.

OSGOOD
At least you Doctors get to say goodbye to your friends before you leave. It’s been an honour to witness your departures.

DOCTOR 11
It’s been an honour to meet you, Petronella. I look forward to meeting you properly for the first time. (Pause; cheerily) Well, ta-ta, Doctor.

DOCTOR 13
Ta-ta. Nice to see you, Doctor.

DOCTOR 11
You know, I wish I brought a fez. Fezzes are so cool when you wear them.

DOCTOR 13
They are. I wouldn’t mind a fez myself.

DOCTOR 11
I’ll see about sending you one in the post then.

DOCTOR 13
(pleased) Really? You’d do that for me?

DOCTOR 11
I’ll order you one from Kerblam. Best retail service in the Universe.

DOCTOR 13
They are, yes. Make sure you have a Kerblam man deliver the package.

DOCTOR 11
I will. After all, if you want it…

DOCTOR 11 + 13
(in unison; finishes) …Kerblam it!

DOCTOR 13
Snap!

The Eleventh and Thirteenth Doctors laugh.

DOCTOR 12
(interrupts) When you two have finished shop-talking…

DOCTOR 11
(realises) Oh yeah. Goodbye, Grumpy Bones. (Pause) Is that how I end up? Old and grumpy.

DOCTOR 12
Yes. And very proud of it.

DOCTOR 11
Well, I suppose there is some merit in you once I get to be you.

DOCTOR 12
Oh trust me. There is plenty of merit in me.

BILL
Please, Doctor. Not the rock guitar.

DOCTOR 12
The rock guitar! Yes! I have the rock guitar! That’s cool, isn’t it?

DOCTOR 11
Not as cool as a fez.

DOCTOR 13
(interrupts) Alright, stop competing, you two.

AMY
Bye, Bill. Make sure your Doctor doesn’t get too grumpy.

BILL
Don’t worry. I’ll keep him in check. (Pause) You and Rory look after each other.

RORY
Oh we will. I look out for her just as much as she looks out for me.

AMY
That’s the way it should be. Together or not at all.

YAZ
Take care, you two.

AMY
You too, Yaz. It’s been great knowing you.

DAN
Best of luck to you and Amy, Rory.

RORY
Thanks. Ditto to you, Dan. And you, Yaz.

KATE
Goodbye, Doctor.

DOCTOR 11
Goodbye, Kate. Till we meet again.

KATE
Let’s hope it’ll be sooner rather than later.

A moment of tender silence.

AMY
Right, Doctor. We’re ready.

RORY
Yeah. Let’s get inside and go home.

DOCTOR 11
The TARDIS awaits.

The Eleventh Doctor clicks his fingers. His TARDIS opens its doors in an instant.

DOCTOR 11
Ta-ta, all. Take a break, as KitKat would say. Good old KitKat. Not as good as jammy dodgers…

AMY
(interjects) Or fish fingers and custard.

DOCTOR 11
Especially not as good as fish fingers and custard, but still. (Pause) See you around.

Amy and Rory enter. The Eleventh Doctor follows behind them, giving a final wave to everyone. Once inside, the Eleventh Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

YAZ
Fish fingers and custard?

DOCTOR 13
It was one of our phases.

SCENE #281 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (ELEVENTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

DOCTOR 11
(to TARDIS) Steady, old girl, steady.

AMY
Raggedy Man. Just wanna say… We’re happy to be a big part of your family. Aren’t we, Rory?

RORY
Yeah. I don’t say it often enough, but… You mean the world to us. Ten times over.

DOCTOR 11
(pleased) I’m very proud to be a part of your lives too, Amy; Rory.

A tender moment of silence. Soon, a white light envelops the console room.

AMY
Doctor, is that…?

DOCTOR 11
Yes! The great whopping bright light is about to take us back to where we were. (Pause; excited) Hold tight, you two! This could get bumpy.

RORY
(groans) Oh great!

DOCTOR 11
(cries) GERONIMO!!!!

The Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory cry out, holding on for dear life, as the white light envelops them.

Sting music. Roll original 2010 Matt Smith end credits with 2010 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #282 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

BILL
Our turn, Doctor?

DOCTOR 12
Our turn, Bill. We’ll be taking Kate, Osgood and their soldiers with us. Don’t mind that, do you?

BILL
Not at all. Happy to have them along.

KATE
I’m glad you’re taking us with you in your TARDIS, Doctor. I know this Doctor and her friends will have to focus on setting off Miss McShane’s explosives before they leave. It wouldn’t do for me, Osgood and our soldiers to get in their way.

DOCTOR 13
Much appreciated, Kate.

OSGOOD
Shall I go into the Doctor’s TARDIS and check up on our soldiers?

KATE
If you would, Osgood.

OSGOOD
I’ll wait for you inside, ma’am.

DOCTOR 12
Mind the dustbins as you go in.

OSGOOD
(happily) It’s been good to see you, Doctor. I hope it won’t be long before we cross paths once more.

DOCTOR 12
Likewise, Petronella.

OSGOOD
(happily) Same to you too, Doctor.

DOCTOR 13
Thanks, Petronella. Let’s hope it’ll be sooner when we meet again.

OSGOOD
(cheerily) Bye, Yaz; bye, Dan.

YAZ
Bye, Osgood.

DAN
Take care now.

Osgood enters the Twelfth Doctor’s TARDIS.

BILL
(to Doctor 13) It’s been nice to meet you, Doctor.

DOCTOR 13
Same here, Bill. Take care of your Doctor.

DOCTOR 12
No fear. She always puts me in my place.

Bill then goes over to Yaz with Dan nearby.

BILL
(whispers) Bye, Yaz. Hope all goes well for you and your Doctor.

YAZ
(whispers) Thanks. (Pause) But what do I do? Do I keep on travelling with her?

BILL
(whispers) Oh yeah! You’ve got to be mad to stop travelling with her.

YAZ
(whispers) But, what if…?

BILL
(interjects; whispers) If your Doctor’s not interested in the way you want her to, that’s her loss. (Pause) Besides, there’s more fish in the sea. There’s bound to be someone else for you. (Pause) There’s still hope, Yaz. There’s always someone special for you and me. We’ve just got to keep looking.

DAN
(whispers) Sound advice, Yaz.

YAZ
(gradually; whispers) Thanks, Bill.

A moment of silence.

DOCTOR 13
Is there something we should be concerned about?

DOCTOR 12
What were you three whispering about?

BILL
Nothing to worry about, Doctors. (Pause) Take care, Yaz.

Bill gives Yaz a peck on the check.

BILL
You too, Dan. Keep yourself, Yaz and your Doctor safe.

DAN
I will. Thanks, Bill.

Another moment of silence.

BILL
Shall we go now, Doctor?

DOCTOR 12
Yes, let’s. Coming, Kate?

KATE
(to Doctor 13) Goodbye, Doctor.

DOCTOR 13
Bye, Kate. You were very brave today. I could tell your father was proud of you.

KATE
I’m glad I was able to see him again after all this time. (Pause) And it happened because of you, Doctors. I’m very grateful for that.

DOCTOR 13
Aww, shucks, Kate.

DOCTOR 12
I’ve gone bright red.

KATE
I’ll finish by saying my father’s words. (Pause) Wonderful chaps. All of you.

DOCTOR 13 + 12
(in unison) Thanks, Kate.

Another moment of silence.

DOCTOR 12
Come on. Time to go. (Pause) Bill, keep up.

The Twelfth Doctor, Bill and Kate enter their TARDIS. Soon, the Twelfth Doctor’s TARDIS chuffs, whooshes and groans, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

YAZ
(concerned) Doctor, are you alright? You seem lost in thought.

DOCTOR 13
Just reflecting on the past lives I’ve had, Yaz. And I’ve concluded…

Another moment of silence.

DAN
Yeah? What have you concluded, Doctor?

DOCTOR 13
(gradually) I’ve concluded… I’m definitely not the Doctor I once was. Thank goodness.

SCENE #283 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (TWELFTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

KATE
Osgood? Are our soldiers coping fine?

OSGOOD
They are, ma’am. Do you want to come and check on them?

KATE
Lead the way.

Osgood leads Kate out of the console room, leaving the Twelfth Doctor and Bill at the console.

BILL
Doctor, one thing I’ve meant to ask you… (Pause) You keep changing and have new lives. How come you’ve never stopped running?

A moment of silence.

DOCTOR 12
Good question. I don’t have a definite answer to that. (Pause) But one thing’s for certain. (Pause) I will never be cruel nor cowardly. I will always be kind.

Just then, a white light begins to envelop the Twelfth Doctor’s console room.

BILL
(anxiously) I hope all of us will be in one piece when we get back home.

DOCTOR 12
There’s only one way to find out, Bill. Let’s venture forth!

The white light engulfs the Twelfth Doctor and Bill.

Sting music. Roll original 2014 Peter Capaldi end credits with 2014 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #284 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 13
(urgently) Right, you two. Put your feet in the TARDIS doors and get ready to enter.

DAN
Gotcha, Doctor.

Doing as the Thirteenth Doctor says, Yaz and Dan run forward and put their feet in the TARDIS doors. The Thirteenth Doctor meanwhile approaches Ace’s Nitro-Nine explosives and is about to set them off.

YAZ
Do you want any help, Doctor?

DOCTOR 13
No thanks, Yaz. We want to make this a quick getaway. Besides, I’m rather good with explosives. Let’s hope the timing mechanisms on these two canisters will be long enough for us to get away. Fifteen seconds, Ace said.

Eventually, the Thirteenth Doctor finishes setting up the Nitro-Nine explosives.

DOCTOR 13
Right, Yaz; Dan. On the count of three, get inside the TARDIS and run as fast as you can to the console. I’ll be right behind you, Make way for me to get to the controls.

YAZ
Will do, Doctor.

DAN
Just say the word.

A moment of silence.

DOCTOR 13
One…two…three! Now, Yaz; Dan! Into the TARDIS now!

Yaz and Dan enter. Having pulled the fuses of the Nitro-Nine explosives, the Thirteenth Doctor runs after Yaz and Dan into the TARDIS. A whirring noise echoes from the Nitro-Nine explosives, and the timer ticks down to zero.

SCENE #285 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (THIRTEENTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

YAZ
(urgently) Come on, Doctor. Get the TARDIS on its way!

DAN
(urgently) We’ve got to leave quickly!

DOCTOR 13
(agitated) I’m getting us out of here as fast as I can!

The Thirteenth Doctor sets the controls by pulling and pushing levers and pressing buttons. Soon, the Ship is in motion, as the time rotor oscillates up and down. There’s a chuffing, whooshing and groaning sound, as the TARDIS departs. The Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz and Dan hold on tight as they take-off.

SCENE #286 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
The Thirteenth Doctor’s TARDIS fades in and out, dematerialising. The timers on the Nitro-Nine canisters continue to tick down to zero, as the Thirteenth Doctor’s TARDIS leaves. Seconds later, the ticking stops and an explosion occurs. Soon, the Sphere Room is engulfed in flames, as well as everything aboard Salvador’s base.

SCENE #287 – EXT – MAELSTROM – N/A
In the maelstrom, Salvador’s base blows up entirely, sending out a shockwave in the process. The Thirteenth Doctor’s TARDIS continues to make its way out of the maelstrom, chuffing, whooshing and groaning as she goes.

SCENE #288 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (THIRTEENTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A
The console room shakes and shudders in the Thirteenth Doctor’s TARDIS, as she, Yaz and Dan are at the controls.

DOCTOR 13
(encouragingly) Come on, come on! We can make it! Don’t give up now, old girl!

YAZ
Can the TARDIS take the pressure?

DOCTOR 13
She must. We’ve only got one chance of getting out of this place. Compared to my previous selves, we’re not so lucky. They had time to escape whilst the TARDISes in the Sphere Room were stabilising the maelstrom’s opening to normal space.

DAN
(realises) That hole in space is disturbingly smaller.

DOCTOR 13
It is, Dan. I noticed when looking back and forth at the scanner screen.

YAZ
Once we get out of the maelstrom, our memories won’t be intact. We’ll lose some of them. That’s what you said, wasn’t it?

DOCTOR 13
It depends. We’ll probably be placed back to where and when we were before our adventure in the interdimensional network began. I’m not a hundred percent sure. I’m just speculating. Although…

DAN
(anxiously) Although what?

DOCTOR 13
(gradually) It could be that the memories of my previous selves are coming back to me as we’re no longer out of sync.

YAZ
(realises) Doctor, we’re about to enter the maelstrom’s opening to space.

DOCTOR 13
Yes, Yaz, I see it! Hold tight, you two. We’re about to go through!

Just then, a white light envelops the console room.

YAZ
Doctor, there’s a white light.

DAN
It’s incredibly bright.

DOCTOR 13
(reassuringly) It’s alright. Within seconds, we’ll be back to where we were and then…

The Thirteenth Doctor’s words are cut off, as the white light engulfs her, Yaz and Dan.

SCENE #289 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (THIRTEENTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A
A segment of Scene #2 is repeated where the Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz and Dan are in the TARDIS console room before their adventure in the interdimensional network began.

DAN
(cheerily) Aye, aye. Everything alright here?

DOCTOR 13
Hi, Dan. Just checking where the TARDIS is taking us next. Be with you in a few minutes.

The Doctor presses buttons and pulls levers at the TARDIS console, whilst Dan joins Yaz.

DAN
(quietly) Everything alright between you two?

YAZ
(quietly) Yeah. Everything seems fine. Like nothing’s changed.

DAN
(quietly) Isn’t that the way the Doctor wants it?

YAZ
(quietly) I suppose so.

DAN
(quietly) But not in the way you want it.

A moment of silence.

YAZ
(quietly) The Doctor wants us to stay friends. (Pause) I’m fine with that. If she’s not ready to commit to anything, I can’t pressure her.

DAN
(quietly) Give it time, Yaz. Maybe she’ll change on how she feels.

YAZ
(quietly) Yeah. Somehow, I doubt it.

Another moment of silence.

DAN
(quietly) Hopefully, the Doctor can get us back to Liverpool. I have my date with Di to look forward to.

YAZ
(quietly) Or Sheffield. It’s been a while since I’ve seen my parents and sis.

Just then, Yaz and Dan notice something about the Doctor.

DAN
(concerned) ‘Ere! Everything alright?

YAZ
(anxiously) Doctor, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?

DOCTOR 13
(snaps out of it; puzzled) Hmm? Sorry, Yaz; Dan? Did you say something?

YAZ
You seemed preoccupied about something. And your hand was on your forehead.

DAN
You haven’t got a headache, have you?

DOCTOR 13
Not exactly.

YAZ
What do you mean ‘not exactly’…?

Just then, Yaz and Dan feel something, and they place their hands to their foreheads too.

DOCTOR 13
(realises) Ah! You two felt the same thing I had.

DAN
(disorientated) Yeah, I’m not sure what it is, but…

YAZ
(disorientated) It felt like memories, Memories flooding right into me.

DOCTOR 13
Yes. Memories of another life perhaps.

YAZ
Except… Oh, I dunno. What I thought were memories are now…well…

DOCTOR 13
They’re fading away, aren’t they?

YAZ
(realises) Yeah. Yeah, they are.

DAN
Almost as if we were waking up from a dream.

YAZ
(realises) Exactly what I was thinking. (Pause) Like we all shared the same dream. And there were others in that dream too. Some we liked and some we didn’t.

DOCTOR 13
(intrigued) Fascinating. I wonder what brought this on.

DAN
Is it something we should worry about?

Another moment of silence, as the Doctor thinks.

DOCTOR 13
Na, I wouldn’t worry too much. Let’s continue having our adventures, shall we?

YAZ
Are you sure about that?

DOCTOR 13
Absolutely. Let the mind not wander on what might or might not have been a dream. I’m sure everything will work itself out eventually.

DAN
Well, if you’re positive…

DOCTOR 13
(interrupts) I’m certain, Dan. Like you said, we need to get you back to Liverpool. And we need to get you back to Sheffield, Yaz.

YAZ
Yeah. Right.

DOCTOR 13
And Yaz; Dan.

DAN
Yes, Doctor?

DOCTOR 13
(gradually) Travelling with you two… It’s been absolutely brilliant! I won’t forget the terrific memories we’ve shared as a fam. Before and after.

YAZ
(pleased) Thanks, Doctor. We’re very pleased to be in your fam.

DAN
(happily) Wouldn’t have missed this for a thing.

A tender moment of silence.

DOCTOR 13
Now, where shall we go for our next adventure? Answer a distress call from a spaceship attacked by a group of monsters or something?

DAN
What, just like that? You want to get swept up in the adventure right away?

YAZ
Even with a TARDIS that needs redecorating?

DOCTOR 13
Especially with a TARDIS that needs redecorating. Where would I be without this magnificent Ship? After all, me and my TARDIS. That’s how it started.
