Coda I

SCENE #260 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
A short while later, the First Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara are at their TARDIS.

DOCTOR 1
Well, it’s been nice to have met you all.

DOCTOR 13
Nice to have met you too, Doctor. Shame we didn’t get to catch up properly.

DOCTOR 1
Likewise, my dear. Likewise. (Pause) But I’m happy in the knowledge that my future is in safe hands.

DOCTOR 13
Of course. As it should be.

DOCTOR 1
Hmm. I see you’re one of the more… determined of us. Quite the strength of character. Good. That’s very good. (Pause) Come along, Susan; Chesterton; Barbara.

IAN
(cheerily) Bye, everyone.

BARBARA
Yes, goodbye.

Everyone says goodbye to Ian and Barbara as they enter the First Doctor’s TARDIS. Susan remains outside and the First Doctor approaches her.

DOCTOR 1
(concerned) Susan, my dear? Come along, my child. You have David to get back to, remember? You don’t want to disappoint him, hmm?

SUSAN
I know, grandfather. It’s just… once we get back to twenty-second century Earth, I won’t be able to enter the TARDIS. You’ll have the doors double-locked. (Pause; tearfully) I can’t bear the thought of being separated from you.

DOCTOR 1
Now, now, now, what is this? You knew this time would come. Besides, you have a lot to look forward to. Being with David and helping him and everyone else to rebuild the Earth.

SUSAN
You really think my future lies with David?

DOCTOR 1
Of course, my dear. I’m sure of it. You can guide Earth on its way to greatness. And as I’ve told you before, I shall come back to check up on you.

SUSAN
Will you, grandfather? Will you really?

DOCTOR 9
Trust us, Susan. We know the future.

DOCTOR 10
We’ve been there. You’ll see your grandfather again soon.

DOCTOR 8
Isn’t that worth looking forward to, Susan? You may have a family by then.

DOCTOR 1
You see, child? And you know me well enough that I can look after myself. And I’ll be having friends to look after me, it seems.

SUSAN
(gradually; pleased) Yes, of course. You’ll have many friends looking after you. I’m so pleased to have met them today. I know they’ll keep you safe.

JAMIE
Aye, we’ll do our best.

ROSE
We’ll never abandon the Doctor. Not ever.

A moment of silence.

DOCTOR 1
Do you feel better now, Susan? Hmm?

SUSAN
(sniffs) A little, yes. Thank you, grandfather.

DOCTOR 1
(satisfied) Oh, think nothing of it, dear child. Think nothing of it.

SUSAN
I’m ready to go now. (Pause) Goodbye, everyone.

EVERYONE
(in unison) Goodbye, Susan.

Everyone says goodbye to Susan as she enters the TARDIS. The First Doctor is about to go inside before he turns back to everyone for one more time.

DOCTOR 1
And it’s farewell from me to you all. Good luck. Yes, good luck.

Chuckling away, the First Doctor enters his TARDIS and closes the doors. The First Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

SCENE #261 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (FIRST DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

BARBARA
(reassuringly) Don’t worry, Susan. We’ll look after your grandfather.

IAN
Yes. We’ll take care of the old man. He has to get us back to our own time after all.

SUSAN
I hope grandfather will be able to return you home soon. (tearfully) I shall miss you both very much.

BARBARA
And we’ll miss you very much indeed.

Susan gives Ian and Barbara a hug whilst the First Doctor works at the TARDIS console.

DOCTOR 1
Gently now, gently.

SUSAN
Is it happening, grandfather? Are we returning to our place and time?

DOCTOR 1
Yes, we are, Susan. We’re exiting the maelstrom. We should be back on twenty-second century Earth any second.

As the First Doctor says this, a white light envelops him, Susan, Ian and Barbara.

Roll original 1963 William Hartnell end credits with 1963 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #262 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 2
(clears throat) Well, time for us to go, I think. Come along, Jamie; Zoe.

JAMIE
Will it be alright, Doctor? When we get back to where and when we were?

DOCTOR 2
Let’s hope so, Jamie.

ZOE
Yes, let’s be positive. We’ve been through worse.

JAMIE
Aye, we mustn’t lose faith in being able to outrun fate.

DOCTOR 2
Well, goodbye, everyone.

JAMIE
Aye, bye bye.

ZOE
It’s been so nice to meet all of you.

JO
It’s been nice to meet you too, Zoe. And you, Jamie. And good to see you again, Doctor.

DOCTOR 2
Likewise, Jo. I’m glad we could catch up with each other like this.

PERI
(cheerily) Bye, Jamie; Doctor. Hope we’ll see each other again soon.

JAMIE
(bemused) Err, aye, Peri. Look after yourself now.

BRIGADIER
Good luck, Mr. McCrimmon; Miss Heriot.

ZOE
Thank you, Brigadier. Good luck to you and your daughter.

DOCTOR 2
(encouragingly) Come on, you two. Inside.

Jamie and Zoe start going into the TARDIS before realising…

JAMIE
‘Ere. Aren’t you coming in, Doctor?

DOCTOR 2
I’ll be with you shortly. Just need to say a few words to my future selves.

ZOE
Alright. Don’t be too long.

Jamie and Zoe enter, whilst the Second Doctor turns to address his future selves. A moment of silence.

DOCTOR 2
(insistently) Well, come on. Tell me.

DOCTOR 13
Tell you what, Doctor?

DOCTOR 2
I won’t remember once me, Jamie and Zoe return to our place and time. Do we outrun the Time Lords or not? You can at least tell me that.

YAZ
Doctor, should you tell him anything?

DAN
Yeah. Telling him his future sounds risky.

DOCTOR 13
It’s alright, Yaz; Dan. Like he said, he won’t remember.

Another moment of silence.

DOCTOR 2
Well?

DOCTOR 13
(gradually) I’m afraid not, Doctor. The Time Lords will capture you and put you on trial.

DOCTOR 7
And it won’t be the last time they’ll do that.

Another moment of silence.

DOCTOR 2
I see. (Pause) Jamie and Zoe. Will they forget me?

DOCTOR 12
They’ll only remember their first adventure with you.

DOCTOR 11
Most of their memories of you will be erased by the Time Lords.

ACE
Aww, that sucks.

AMY
Surely you can rewrite history, Doctor. Time can be rewritten.

DOCTOR 11
Not this time, Amy.

DOCTOR 10
There are fixed points in time. Jamie and Zoe losing their memories of me is one of them.

DONNA
I hope that doesn’t happen to me. I can’t bear the thought of losing my memories of you, Spaceman.

DOCTOR 4
(encouragingly) Don’t be downhearted, dear old thing. You’ll see Jamie and Zoe now and again.

DOCTOR 5
Thanks to the CIA’s efforts of course.

DOCTOR 7
And it’ll depend on whether it’s reality or fiction.

DOCTOR 9
You’ll just have to be patient when the time comes.

DOCTOR 6
Something to look forward to, isn’t it?

Another moment of silence.

DOCTOR 2
Yes, I suppose it is. (Pause) Oh well, I’d better be on my way.

The Second Doctor shakes the Thirteenth Doctor’s hand.

DOCTOR 2
Goodbye, Doctor.

DOCTOR 13
(cheerily) Ta-ta. Nice to see me.

DOCTOR 2
Yes, nice to see all of me today. (Pause) Even you, I suppose.

DOCTOR 3
The feeling is mutual, dear fellow.

DOCTOR 2
(sighs; happily) Goodbye, friends I’ve yet to meet. And friends I’ve already met.

BRIGADIER
Good luck, Doctor. See you soon.

DOCTOR 2
See you soon, Brigadier. And you, Kate.

With a final wave, the Second Doctor enters his TARDIS. The Second Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

YAZ
He seems nice.

DAN
That’s what I was going to say.

DOCTOR 13
Yeah. I was a nice little man once upon a time.

SCENE #263 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (SECOND DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

JAMIE
‘Ere, Doctor. Is everything going to be alright?

DOCTOR 2
(half-heartedly) Don’t worry, you two. Everything will be fine once we return to our time and place.

ZOE
(concerned) You don’t seem sure.

DOCTOR 2
(reassuringly) Trust me, Jamie; Zoe. Once we’re back, we’ll be fighting strong no matter what.

A moment of silence, until…

JAMIE
(realises) Doctor! A white light is about to envelop the TARDIS.

ZOE
It’s so bright.

DOCTOR 2
It’s started. (Pause) Let’s see what happens next.

Soon, the white light envelops the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe.

Roll original 1967 Patrick Troughton end credits with 1967 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #264 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 3
Yates; Benton, are all your soldiers safely aboard my TARDIS?

MIKE
We’ve triple-checked and all our soldiers are accounted for, Doctor.

BENTON
You don’t mind taking us back to Earth, do you?

DOCTOR 3
My dear chap, think nothing of it.

JO
We’re glad of the extra company. (realises) Doctor, I just realised. We left Bessie in zone two of the interdimensional network. Parked outside the castle. Won’t she…?

DOCTOR 3
(interjects) Don’t worry, Jo. When I linked my mind to my TARDIS to come here, I had the old girl summon Bessie via remote control. She materialised around her. Bessie is safely back inside the TARDIS’ bike and car park.

JO
(relieved) Well, that’s a relief. (impressed) You’re so clever and wonderful, Doctor.

DOCTOR 3
Thank you, Jo. One tries.

DOCTOR 4
(ruefully) And so modest, aren’t you, dear fellow.

PRIVATE JAMES
At least he has an interesting dress sense compared to you, Doctor.

DOCTOR 4
(objects) I resent that, James.

DOCTOR 3
Well, time for us to be leaving.

DOCTOR 13
Good luck, Doctor. Hope you and everyone else returns home safely.

DOCTOR 3
Thank you, Doctor. I’ve certainly had the time of our lives. (to Jo) Wouldn’t you agree, Jo?

JO
It’s certainly been baffling, especially with some of the people we’ve met today.

NYSSA
Don’t worry, Jo. It’s been baffling for us too.

BILLY
You’ll see us again, Jo. (teases) On Lonmar perhaps.

Jo, Nyssa, Billy and Ace laugh.

ACE
Look after yourself, Jo.

JO
Thanks. (Pause; intrigued) Do I see any of you future Doctors again in my future?

DOCTOR 11
(knowingly) Wait and see, Jo. Wait and see.

BRIGADIER
Look after him, Miss Grant. Our Doctor, I mean.

JO
Yes, Brigadier. (tearily) Oh, it’s been so nice to see you.

Jo goes over to the Brigadier and hugs him. The Brigadier is quite baffled.

BRIGADIER
(baffled) This must be the first time you’ve ever hugged me, Miss Grant.

As Jo lets go and rejoins the Third Doctor, Mike Yates and Benton approach the Brigadier.

MIKE
Goodbye, sir. It’s been an honour to serve you this way.

BENTON
Same goes for me too, Brigadier.

BRIGADIER
Take care of yourselves, Yates; Benton. As well as the Doctor and Miss Grant.

Mike Yates and Benton salute the Brigadier, and the Brigadier salutes back.

DOCTOR 3
After you, Miss Grant. Mike; Sergeant.

Jo, Mike Yates and Benton enter the Third Doctor’s TARDIS. Before the Third Doctor enters his TARDIS, he turns back to everyone for one last time.

DOCTOR 3
Farewell, everyone. Especially you, Brigadier; Kate. Till we meet again.

With a final wave, he enters his TARDIS. The Third Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

KATE
Was it surreal to see your Doctor again, father?

BRIGADIER
Yes, it was, Kate. (Pause) So good to see that chap again.

SCENE #265 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (THIRD DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

BENTON
I’ll go and check on our soldiers, sir.

MIKE
Good idea, Sergeant. I’ll accompany you.

Mike Yates and Benton exit the console room, leaving the Third Doctor and Jo.

JO
Was it strange seeing so many of you, Doctor?

DOCTOR 3
In a way, yes. (Pause) But not quite as strange as I thought it would be.

JO
Does that worry you?

DOCTOR 3
Not really, Jo. I suppose there’s a likelihood I’ll keep bumping into myself now and again. So long as I don’t make a habit of it.

Just then, a white light begins to envelop the console room.

JO
(startled) Goodness. I hope we’ll all be in one piece once we get back home.

DOCTOR 3
Let’s find out, Jo. Hold on.

The white light envelops the Third Doctor and Jo.

Sting music. Roll original 1970 Jon Pertwee end credits with 1970 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #266 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 4
(cheerily) Well, it’s been nice meeting you all, but we must be going too. (to Private James) Isn’t that right, James?

PRIVATE JAMES
Doctor, let’s say goodbye a bit more. You didn’t tell me you had so many friends.

DOCTOR 4
Friends I’ve yet to meet and ones I shouldn’t know too much about.

NYSSA
It’s been nice to see you too, James.

BILLY
Yeah. I hope you’ll find your Lady Christina soon.

PRIVATE JAMES
Me too. We’ve had many delays getting to her.

DOCTOR 11
I’m curious as to how I should be meeting Lady Christina in my past.

DOCTOR 12
Indeed, I don’t recall meeting her ladyship when I was Long Scarf.

DOCTOR 13
Wasn’t it Pinstripe who first met Christina?

DOCTOR 10
Usually I’m good with faces, but I don’t recall meeting her first as Teeth and Curls either.

DOCTOR 4
There’s bound to be a simple explanation, dear things.

DOCTOR 5
Ah, but what if there isn’t. What if it turns out to be a complex explanation?

DOCTOR 4
I think it’s best we don’t get into an endless debate about temporal and moral ethics.

DOCTOR 9
Who’s to say how these things work out? Time and Space are relative.

DOCTOR 8
The Universe works in mysterious ways, yadda yadda yadda.

DOCTOR 4
You will have to work out how to address Lady Christina for the first time, James. This will be your first meeting with her, you know.

PRIVATE JAMES
(annoyed) Yes, thank you for reminding me, Doctor.

DOCTOR 6
You also need to work on your chin.

DOCTOR 7
A good chin could either win a girl’s heart or not.

PRIVATE JAMES
(sullenly) Charming.

YAZ
Ignore them, James. The Doctor is known for teasing.

DOCTOR 4
Come on, James. Let’s go and see your Lady Christina.

PRIVATE JAMES
Yeah, let’s. The more you Doctors tease me, the more I’ll get anxious.

PERI
Wait, before you leave. Thanks for looking out for me and Donna.

DONNA
Yeah, thanks a lot, ladies’ man.

Private James receives kisses and hugs from Peri and Donna. He staggers momentarily.

PRIVATE JAMES
Wow! I’m glad I met you, Doctor. The more ladies I meet, the more kisses and hugs I get.

DOCTOR 4
You might want to clean off that lipstick, James. Christina wouldn’t like that.

PRIVATE JAMES
Aww, there you go teasing me again.

DOCTOR 4
(cheerfully) Bye, bye, everyone. Take care in your travels.

DOCTOR 6
Try not to run into too many bakeries, Doctor.

DOCTOR 4
(laughs) Aha, yes. Very good.

BRIGADIER
Good luck, Doctor. Farewell, Private.

PRIVATE JAMES
Thank you, sir. It’s been an honour to serve you, sir.

Private James salutes. The Brigadier salutes back. The Fourth Doctor puts his key in the lock of his TARDIS and it opens.

DOCTOR 4
After you, James.

PRIVATE JAMES
I hope Bazooie will be okay once we return to him. He’s probably whimpering and jumping about.

The Fourth Doctor and Private James enter their TARDIS, closing the door behind them. The Fourth Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

BILLY
(concerned) Nyssa? Nyssa, are you alright?

NYSSA
It’s just… It was so surreal to see that Doctor again. The first one I met on Traken.

DOCTOR 5
(muses) Yes. (Pause) He’s clearly happy, isn’t he? Happy to be the Doctor.

SCENE #267 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (FOURTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

PRIVATE JAMES
Doctor. I just want to say… Out of all the Doctors I’ve met, you’re the one who makes me happy. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.

DOCTOR 4
(chuckles) Oh, that’s very kind of you.

PRIVATE JAMES
I mean it, Doctor. You’re the best. I’ll never forget the extraordinary times I’ve spent in your company. Thank you so much.

DOCTOR 4
My pleasure, James.

Eventually, a white light begins to envelop the TARDIS console room.

PRIVATE JAMES
Hello? What’s this?

DOCTOR 4
Ah. Time to stop being sentimental, James. We’re about to return to where we left Bazooie.

The white light envelops the Fourth Doctor and Private James.

Sting music. Roll original 1974 Tom Baker end credits with 1974 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #268 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 5
(eagerly) Well, Nyssa; Billy. It’s time I took you two to your honeymoon.

NYSSA
Yes. I’ve been looking forward to it very much.

BILLY
Me too. We’ve put it off for quite a while.

AMY
(eagerly) So, tell us. Where are you two going for your honeymoon?

NYSSA
I don’t know, Amy. Billy has kept it a surprise.

AMY
Alright then, tell us, Billy. Where are you two going?

BILLY
(laughs) I can’t tell anyone. Not in front of Nyssa.

ROSE
Oh go on! You’re not going to remember telling us anyway.

BILLY
(teases) And if I told anyone where Nyssa and I are going for our honeymoon, I’d have to kill them.

DOCTOR 5
(teasingly) And we wouldn’t want that.

RORY
Well, I hope your honeymoon won’t be disastrous.

AMY
Oh come on, Rory. Ours wasn’t bad. Remember our honeymoon suite?

RORY
Yeah. And we were on a spaceship about to crash-land into a planet.

JEN
Is he always like this?

AMY
Not always. Are you, Rory?

RORY
(cheerily) Na. It was fun, our honeymoon.

Amy and Rory kiss.

BILLY
Well, I hope our honeymoon will be fun as well.

NYSSA
Me too, Billy.

Nyssa and Billy kiss.

DOCTOR 11
Okay, things are getting smoochy.

DOCTOR 5
Indeed. (to Nyssa; Billy) Say your goodbyes, you two.

NYSSA
Goodbye, everyone.

BILLY
Yes, bye.

PERI
Bye, you two. Take care.

ACE
Yeah, been great seeing you again.

DONNA
Look after yourselves.

BILLY
Thank you, Doctor, for finding Nyssa and me outside Madame Tussauds in London.

DOCTOR 13
I’m pleased I found you when I did, Billy.

BRIGADIER
Goodbye, Doctor. And good luck, Mr. and Mrs. Walker.

KATE
Yes, take care, you two.

DOCTOR 5
Wait for me inside, Nyssa; Billy. I’ll join you in a moment.

BILLY
Okay, Doctor. See you inside.

NYSSA
Come on, Billy dear.

Nyssa takes Billy’s hand, as they enter the Fifth Doctor’s TARDIS. Once they’re gone, the Fifth Doctor addresses his future selves.

DOCTOR 5
Tell me. Do Nyssa and Billy live happily ever after?

A moment of tense silence.

DOCTOR 5
I see.

DOCTOR 9
This is probably one of these occasions where we shouldn’t reveal too many spoilers.

DOCTOR 12
You’re just going to have to find out what happens to Nyssa and Billy in your future.

Another moment of silence.

DOCTOR 5
Can I ask…? When they leave me, will one of you look out for them please?

DOCTOR 10
Of course. One or two of us will see to that.

DOCTOR 13
You have our word on it.

DOCTOR 5
(pleased) Thank you. (Pause) It’s nice to know friends can be checked up on after they’re gone. (Pause; saddened) A shame it can’t happen to all our friends. (Pause) Dear Adric.

The Fifth Doctor enters his TARDIS, joining Nyssa and Billy. The Fifth Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

DOCTOR 13
Don’t worry about him.

DOCTOR 10
He’s had a lot to lose as well as a lot to gain.

DONNA
Wasn’t Adric one of the friends outside the Sphere Room who helped us?

SCENE #269 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (FIFTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

NYSSA
Are we on our way out of the maelstrom?

DOCTOR 5
Yes, we’re just about to pass through the boundary layer. We should be back in normal space soon.

BILLY
Nyssa; Doctor? Can I just say… Being with you two in the TARDIS. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

DOCTOR 5
(happily) I’m glad to hear that, Billy. Having you in the TARDIS has been splendid.

NYSSA
Yes. Marrying you has also been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

BILLY
I’m glad you said ‘yes’ to marrying me, Nyssa. (Pause) I’ll always treasure the times I’ve had with you two. The adventures we’ve had have been tremendous. (Pause) I don’t want it to end.

Just then, a bright white light envelops the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy.

Sting music. Roll original 1982 Peter Davison end credits with 1982 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #270 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 6
Time for us to go, Peri. So much to see, all of Space and Time open to us. You know, I have a mind to visit the planet Ravalox next. Or perhaps we could visit the Eye of Orion or Florana.

PERI
Typical. I wish you could make up your mind on where we’re going next, Doctor.

DOCTOR 6
Where’s the fun in knowing where our next destination is?

PERI
Probably a lot if there are death traps everywhere.

JEN
(amused) Are you two always like this?

DOCTOR 6
Always like what?

ROSE
Arguing with each other?

DONNA
Yeah, I know I squabble with my Doctor sometimes, but not on the level you two do.

AMY
I hope you at least like each other, despite your quarrels.

PERI
(objects) Of course we do. We like each other very much, my Doctor and I.

DOCTOR 6
Absolutely. No question about it.

DOCTOR 8
It’s been nice to see old friends that we haven’t seen for a long time.

DOCTOR 9
More than nice, mate. It’s fantastic! I never thought I would see friends like Peri, Ace and Jen again.

DOCTOR 10
It’s a kinda blessing that Salvador and the Valeyard brought so many of us and our friends to one place outside Space and Time.

DOCTOR 13
Yeah, it is. I’ve missed the friendships I’ve made over the centuries.

DOCTOR 11
(feeling nostalgic) There’s always the laughing. I loved the laughing. Don’t you miss the laughing we had with our friends?

DOCTOR 12
And the bickering. Our friends used to tell us off a lot, didn’t they?

PERI
I will say this, you have mellowed a lot since your regeneration, Doctor. You’re not as belligerent and argumentative as you once were.

DOCTOR 6
Thank you, Peri. I’d say the same about you. I’m sure our friend Frobisher helped with soothing our argumentative tendencies.

PERI
You will always be my best friend, despite the arguments we have.

DOCTOR 6
And you’re my best friend too, Peri, among others. I’ll never forget you in this life and the next ones.

PERI
Gee, thanks. (teases) I suppose I am a gal that’s not easy to forget.

The Sixth Doctor and Peri laugh.

YAZ
(teases) Okay, now it’s worrying when you two like each other.

DAN
(teases) Yeah. Maybe you should leave while you can.

Everyone laughs.

PERI
Bye, everyone.

ACE
Look after yourself, Peri.

JEN
Don’t get into too much trouble.

PERI
(scoffs) Easier said than done. We run down every corridor in every place we visit.

ROSE
And I thought me and my Doctor were the only ones that did the running.

DOCTOR 9
Come on, Rose. Running is good for the soul. Especially after having bananas. Bananas are good.

DOCTOR 6
That’s something we can agree on.

DOCTOR 9
May I suggest a new set of clothes, Doctor? A blue coat perhaps.

DOCTOR 6
Or your leather jacket.

DOCTOR 9
If you like, yeah.

DOCTOR 11
With a bow tie perhaps? Ooh, and a fez. Bow ties and fezzes are cool.

PERI
Bye, Donna. Great sharing an adventure with you.

DONNA
Yeah, it was fun. Thanks for looking out for us in those woods.

DOCTOR 6
Farewell, Brigadier; Kate.

BRIGADIER
Goodbye, Doctor; Miss Brown.

KATE
Take care of yourselves.

DOCTOR 6
(encouragingly) Come on, Peri. Into the TARDIS we go.

PERI
Right behind you.

With a final wave, the Sixth Doctor and Peri enter their TARDIS. The Sixth Doctor’s TARDIS soon chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising.

SCENE #271 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (SIXTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

PERI
You know, apart from that tea party we had in the Sphere Room, we barely had time to eat when we were in that interdimensional network.

DOCTOR 6
Don’t worry, Peri. You’re bound to be ravenous once we return to normal space.

PERI
All those people we met, Doctor. All those friends of yours. Just… Wow!

DOCTOR 6
Wow, Peri? Wow?

PERI
I know you’ve told me about them a few times in our travels. It’s just…well… (Pause) I wanna say… I’m honoured to be a part of your big family, Doctor.

DOCTOR 6
Oh, Peri. You’re a vital part in my family. A most vital part indeed.

Just then, a white light shines brightly. Soon, the white light envelops the Sixth Doctor and Peri.

Sting music. Roll original 1986 Colin Baker end credits with 1986 theme music for five seconds before fade back to story.

SCENE #272 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A

DOCTOR 7
Is the Nitro-Nine ready, Doctor?

DOCTOR 13
It is. Thank you, Ace, for providing us two canisters.

ACE
Are you sure you don’t want me to stay behind and help you with setting off the explosives?

DOCTOR 13
We’ll be fine, Ace. Yaz, Dan and me. Besides, you need to be with your Doctor when you leave.

ACE
Shame. Still, good luck with blowing up this place.

DOCTOR 7
You need to make sure the timer is on a fifteen second countdown. Ace’s timers on those canisters aren’t always reliable.

ACE
Oy! Steady on, Professor.

DAN
(anxiously) You mean this place could blow up the moment we have a chance to leave.

DOCTOR 13
Don’t worry, Dan. I’m sure we’’ll be out in time before Salvador’s base blows up.

YAZ
So long as we run fast.

DOCTOR 7
Are you sure you have your soldiers safely tucked inside my TARDIS, Brigadier?

BAMBERA
Absolutely, Doctor. We did a roll call. All my soldiers are accounted for.

DOCTOR 7
Excellent.

BAMBERA
Thank you for letting me and my soldiers accompany you.

DOCTOR 7
Oh, think nothing of it. We were on our way to the nineteen-nineties anyway.

ACE
It’s good to have you with us, Winifred.

DOCTOR 7
And since we’re taking Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart home with us…

BRIGADIER
(interjects) Thank you, Doctor. I appreciate you giving me a lift home.

KATE
(saddened) This is where we say goodbye then.

DOCTOR 7
I’m afraid so. (Pause) Goodbye, Kate. It’s been nice to catch up with you.

KATE
It’s been an honour to serve you, Doctor. All of you, in fact.

ACE
(cheerily) Bye, everyone. Nice to have met you all.

JEN
Likewise, Ace.

ROSE
You’re a Londoner like me, aren’t ya?

ACE
Sure am. I suppose we have more in common than we realise.

ROSE
I suppose so. Council estate, right?

ACE
How did you guess?

AMY
None of us are that bad, right?

BILL
I’ve no complaints.

YAZ
I’m pleased I’ve met all of you. Being the Doctors’ friends and such.

DAN
Same goes for me.

RORY
Me too. I’m glad we survived what we went through.

DOCTOR 7
(cheerily) Let’s go, Ace. We’ve a lot of work to do.

ACE
Coming, Professor. (cheerily) Take care, everyone.

DOCTOR 7
Farewell, Doctors.

DOCTOR 13
(cheerily) Bye, Doctor; bye, Ace.

DOCTOR 7
Brigadier… (confused) Brigadier? (Pause) Alistair?

BRIGADIER
One moment, Doctor.

The Brigadier makes his way over to Kate.

BRIGADIER
Kate, dear?

Kate sniffs and becomes tearful whilst the Brigadier comforts her.

BRIGADIER
There, there, now. It’s not so bad. We got to see each other again. I’m very proud of you, you know.

KATE
(tearfully) I’m sorry, father. It’s just… (Pause; sniffs) Here I am with you after losing you… And now I’m about to lose you again.

BRIGADIER
We knew this time would come, didn’t we?

KATE
(tearfully) I know, It’s just… It’s so soon.

BRIGADIER
(reassuringly) Remember, Kate. I’ll always be with you in spirit. Even after I’m gone, I’ll always look out for you. (Pause) I’m sure the Doctors will look out for you too.

DOCTOR 9
You have our word on that, Brigadier.

DOCTOR 11
Absolutely.

DOCTOR 12
No question about it.

DOCTOR 13
We’ll always look out for Kate just as she looks out for us.

KATE
(pleased) Thank you, Doctors. That means a lot.

A moment of tender silence.

DOCTOR 7
We’ll wait for you inside, Brigadier. Come on, Ace, Winifred.

BAMBERA
I need to check on my soldiers inside.

ACE
Good idea, Winifred.

The Seventh Doctor, Ace and Bambera enter their TARDIS, whilst the Brigadier shares one last goodbye with Kate.

BRIGADIER
Goodbye, Kate. I’ll look in on you when I get back home.

KATE
Bye, father. It’s been an honour and a pleasure to serve with you.

The Brigadier plants a kiss on Kate’s forehead.

BRIGADIER
The honour and pleasure is all mine.

The Brigadier then looks to the Doctors and salutes them.

BRIGADIER
Doctors…

DOCTOR 10
Safe travels, Brig.

BRIGADIER
I’ve said this many times before but… Splendid fellows, all of you.

DOCTOR 13
(happily; teases) Aww, thanks. Nice to be called a fella.

With that, the Brigadier enters the Seventh Doctor’s TARDIS. Soon, the Seventh Doctor’s TARDIS chuffs, whooshes and groans away, before it fades in and out, dematerialising. Once it’s gone, the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors go over to Kate and place hands on her shoulders.

DOCTOR 11
Are you alright, Kate?

KATE
(gradually) It’s true what people say. The ones you love are the hardest to let go.

DOCTOR 12
Believe us, Kate. We’ve had plenty of experience to realise that.

SCENE #273 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM (SEVENTH DOCTOR’S TARDIS) – N/A

BAMBERA
Won’t be a moment, Doctor.

BRIGADIER
We’ll be right back once we’ve checked on Bambera’s soldiers.

The Brigadier and Bambera exit the console room, leaving the Seventh Doctor and Ace.

ACE
Well, Professor. We got to see many of your friends as well as many of you today.

DOCTOR 7
Indeed. And your overall assessment?

ACE
Wicked! I didn’t realise how many cool friends you had. I wish I got to know them more.

DOCTOR 7
Me too, Ace, me too. (Pause) It’s astounding there were so many mees today as well as many friends.

Just then, a white light begins to envelop the console room.

ACE
(realises; groans) Oh, I hate it when a white light is about to envelop us. Puts me on edge.

DOCTOR 7
Not to worry, Ace. This will soon be over once we’ve passed the maelstrom boundary layer.

Eventually, the white light envelops them completely.
