Chapter 22
SCENE #208 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
All U.N.I.T. personnel, including the Brigadier, Kate, Osgood, Mike Yates, Benton, Magambo and Bambera, end up in the Sphere Room aboard Salvador’s base with the thirteen Doctors and friends.
BRIGADIER
(realises; relieved) Doctors! Thank goodness you and your friends are alright.
KATE
What’s been happening, Doctors? Why are you and your friends strapped inside these cubicles?
DOCTOR 10
No time to explain. Brig; Kate, we need you and some of your people to help us.
ACE
(realises; cheers) Professor! It’s Winifred!
BAMBERA
Hello, Ace. Good to see you.
ACE
(cheers; pleased) And you.
DOCTOR 7
(impatiently) Yes, yes, time for reunions later, Ace. Let’s not lose focus here.
FRANCESCA
(determined) Where is my saviour, the Dark Lord? I must find him!
Francesca attempts to break free from the U.N.I.T. entourage, as she runs off to escape.
BENTON
(cries) Brigadier; Miss Stewart! Miss Francesca is escaping!
MIKE
I suppose the bad pennies had to come along.
DOCTOR 13
(reassuringly) Don’t worry. She won’t get far.
Francesca bumps into one of the TARDIS force fields and ends up falling onto the floor.
FRANCESCA
(groans; disorientated) W-W-What…what just happened? I was on my way out and then…
BRIGADIER
(urgently) Magambo, quick. Get your soldiers to guard Miss Francesca.
MAGAMBO
Understood, sir. (barks) Phillips, Khan, Jenkins…
PHILLIPS + KHAN + JENKINS
(in unison) Yes, ma’am.
The three soldiers go over to Francesca and pick her up from the floor. Francesca struggles, as they hold her.
FRANCESCA
(protests) Let me go, you miscreants! I won’t be treated this way!
KATE
(confused) Doctors, you said you needed me, my father and some of our people to help you.
DOCTOR 5
We need all the help we can get to access the interdimensional network.
DOCTOR 6
We’re going to put everything back where they were, including the spatial-temporal locations in the interdimensional zones.
DOCTOR 7
Once that’s done, we have to close the network before we can escape the maelstrom.
DOCTOR 8
We haven’t much time left though. The maelstrom is still shrinking despite us having stabilised it.
BRIGADIER
Right. Let’s get started and help you out then.
DOCTOR 13
You need to get yourselves and some of your soldiers in these cubicles, quickly.
KATE
Yates, Benton, Osgood, Magambo and Bambera. You accompany me and my father into these cubicles. Select soldiers to join us as well.
MIKE
Yes, ma’am.
BENTON
Understood, ma’am.
BAMBERA
I’ll take charge in selecting the soldiers, ma’am.
OSGOOD
I’ll help you with that.
MAGAMBO
The lids of these cubicles swing open easily, right?
DOCTOR 12
Yes, Captain. And close easily too. You need to strap yourself in once you’re in a cubicle.
DOCTOR 11
And if you could do that as quickly as possible, that would be much appreciated.
BRIGADIER
Doctors, should some of our soldiers keep watch on this room as well as on Miss Francesca?
DOCTOR 3
Good thinking, Brig. We need to have soldiers on guard, especially when Salvador and his servant, the Valeyard, come back.
MAGAMBO
I’ll have Phillips, Khan and Jenkins keep watch.
KATE
I hope you all know what you’re doing, Doctors.
DOCTOR 9
So do we, Kate.
DOCTOR 1
Especially as we’ve not done something like this before.
SUSAN
(reassuringly) Don’t worry, grandfather. Hopefully we’ll all link up successfully once the sixty cubicles have been filled in.
ZOE
We might have a better connection to the Sphere with sixty people in the cubicles.
DOCTOR 2
Let’s hope so, Zoe. Let’s truly make a success out of this.
DOCTOR 4
This is certainly better than ‘two heads are better than one’, hmm?
SCENE #209 – INT – CORRIDOR, ENEMY BASE – N/A
Meanwhile, in a corridor aboard Salvador’s base, he’s waiting impatiently for the Valeyard to come out of his TARDIS.
SALVADOR
(impatiently) Hurry up, Valeyard! The Doctors are advancing in their retaliation against us!
VALEYARD
(from inside TARDIS; tersely) Patience, Salvador! I’ll bring out what we need once I find it.
SALVADOR
(impatiently) Why can’t I enter your TARDIS? Why have you made it invisible?
VALEYARD
(from inside TARDIS; tersely) I cannot permit anyone to enter my TARDIS. I’ve cloaked it to prevent my enemies finding it. Now cease talking and let me concentrate!
Salvador continues to wait whilst the Valeyard searches inside his TARDIS.
SALVADOR
(quietly; bitterly) Who does he think he is? I am Salvador. He is my disciple. He serves and obeys me. He shouldn’t talk back to me.
SCENE #210 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
Back in the Sphere Room, the five dozen cubicles have been filled in. Progress is made with the thirteen Doctors and their friends gaining access to the interdimensional network, as the Sphere glows brighter than before.
DOCTOR 1
(muses) Now let me see… (Pause) Yes! Yes, I believe it’s working. (joyously) It’s actually working!
SUSAN
Things have turned out well so far, grandfather.
DOCTOR 2
I believe you’re right, Susan. We’ve gained access to the interdimensional network with sixty of us in these cubicles.
DOCTOR 3
Jolly good. Let’s hope our progress stays that way and we’re on the right track.
JAMIE
So, now we’re in the interdimensional network, what happens next?
JO
Do we, I don’t know, separate the times and places in each interdimensional zone from each other?
DOCTOR 13
Gold star to you, Jo! That’s exactly what we do.
DOCTOR 10
But first things first. We have to access the zones. Gaining access to the network was easy. This is the tricky part.
NYSSA
I take it we do this in stages by conducting the access to the zones in groups.
DOCTOR 5
Yes, Nyssa. You, Billy and me, we access zone six. That’s where we got into the interdimensional network in the first place.
DOCTOR 10
Donna, you and I help Nyssa, Billy and their Doctor.
DONNA
Gotcha.
BILLY
So, it’ll be like us trying to separate London and New York from each other.
DOCTOR 13
And separating them from their relative temporal states, yes. (to Yaz; Dan) Yaz; Dan, we’d better help out too.
DAN
Alrighty. No argument from me.
YAZ
Me neither.
DOCTOR 1
Ian, Barbara, Susan. We need to access zone one. We’ll separate the island from the two time periods it’s in. Understood?
IAN
Yes, Doctor, we understand perfectly.
BARBARA
I pray the headaches we’ll get won’t be severe.
SUSAN
Don’t worry, Barbara. We’ll be kept intact as far as our minds are concerned. We’ve been alright so far.
DOCTOR 3
And we have the Brigadier, Kate and everyone from U.N.I.T. helping us out.
DOCTOR 7
They’re maintaining the stability of the telepathic contact we have with each other.
BRIGADIER
We’re doing the best we can, Doctors.
DOCTOR 3
And it’s much appreciated.
KATE
(anxiously) Mind you, it is a struggle with so much of our minds being used.
DOCTOR 7
Fear not, Kate. You and everyone else from U.N.I.T. are doing well so far.
DOCTOR 2
Jamie; Zoe, we’ll help Ian, Barbara, Susan and their Doctor with accessing the island in zone one.
ZOE
Right, Doctor.
JAMIE
Aye, that works for me.
DOCTOR 3
Jo, we need to access and separate the castle and its countryside from their time periods in zone two.
JO
Won’t it be a tall order, Doctor? With there being more than two time periods in zone two.
DOCTOR 3
(reassuringly) Don’t worry, Jo. We can tackle this one.
DOCTOR 7
And you have me and Ace to help you out.
ACE
Yep. No backing out of this one. Just the way I like it.
DOCTOR 4
James, you and I…
DARBY
(interrupts) No need to tell me. We go into zone three and we access and separate the two bakeries, the village and the woods from the two time periods they’re in.
DOCTOR 4
(pleased) You read me like a book, dear James.
DOCTOR 6
Peri and I will help you out. Right, Peri?
PERI
Sure thing.
DOCTOR 8
Jen, you and I go into zone four…
JEN
(interjects) …And access and separate Egypt from its two time periods. Yeah, yeah, I’m with you.
DOCTOR 9
Rose and I will help you two. Won’t we, Rose?
ROSE
Of course.
AMY
And we sort out zone five where India and Africa are.
DOCTOR 11
(groans) Aww, I wanted to say that! (sulks) Come on; let’s get cracking.
RORY
I hope all of this will be worth it.
DOCTOR 12
It will be with me and Bill helping you three.
BILL
Yeah, we can’t let you do all the hard work.
The Doctors and their friends continue with accessing the zones in the interdimensional network. A moment of tense silence.
OSGOOD
(concerned) Doctors, is something wrong?
MIKE
Indeed. I’m not getting a sense that you’re able to access the interdimensional zones.
DOCTOR 1
(dismayed) Oh, dear, dear, dear. It’s not enough. The mental energies of us Doctors, our friends and everyone else aren’t enough to gain access to the zones. Most distressing.
BENTON
Well, can’t you try harder?
DOCTOR 2
We don’t want to burn out our brains, Sergeant.
DOCTOR 3
We need more mental energy to boost our efforts.
BAMBERA
But there aren’t any more cubicles to be filled in.
MAGAMBO
Do you have an idea of where we can obtain more mental energy, Doctors?
Another moment of silence.
DOCTOR 13
(realises) I’ve got it! I know where we can get the extra mental energy.
DOCTOR 10
Really? Where, Doctor?
DOCTOR 13
There’s an element of risk involved, but hopefully the Sphere should have enough reserves for us to achieve the endeavour.
DOCTOR 12
(impatiently) You’d better tell us what it is, otherwise your idea won’t be put into operation as quickly as we would like.
DOCTOR 13
We need to send a message out of the maelstrom and into space. Hopefully, more of our friends – or those who know us quite well – should hear the message as we send it.
DOCTOR 4
(realises) And that way, the answers to our calls will provide us with the extra mental energy we need to access the interdimensional zones.
DOCTOR 8
(astonished) I say. Do you think that could work?
DOCTOR 9
Well, it’s worth a try, mate.
DOCTOR 5
There is an element of risk like you said, but we must take the chance.
DOCTOR 6
Agreed. It’s hair-brained, but I’m all for it.
DOCTOR 7
Let’s all do this together then.
DOCTOR 13
Right, Doctors, let’s focus. (focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 12
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 11
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 10
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 9
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 8
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 7
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 6
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 5
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 4
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 3
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 2
(focuses) Contact.
DOCTOR 1
(focuses) Contact.
Information buzzes between the thirteen Doctors, as they share minds with each other.
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(focuses; pleased) Good. The inhibitors Salvador and the Valeyard placed on us in these cubicles didn’t work. Let’s get down to business.
Clearing her throat, the Thirteenth Doctor starts to telepathically send out their message into space. The other Doctors help her.
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(focuses; calls) Hello! Is anyone out there? Can anyone hear me?
SCENE #211A – EXT – MAELSTROM – N/A
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(focuses) If anyone can hear us, please listen. This is the Doctor…
DOCTOR 1 (V’O)
(focuses) …The Doctor is speaking to you. Me and my other selves are trying to contact anyone who knows the Doctor…
DOCTOR 2 (V’O)
(focuses) …Because we really need your help more than ever…
DOCTOR 3 (V’O)
(focuses) …The Universe is in great peril. Not just this Universe…
DOCTOR 4 (V’O)
(focuses) …but other Universes too. My friends and I and the other Doctors are trying to restore balance in the Multiverse…
DOCTOR 5 (V’O)
(focuses) …We’re using a Gallifreyan interdimensional manipulator to achieve this…
DOCTOR 6 (V’O)
(focuses) …We’re also using mental energy to telepathically connect to a Sphere in the centre of a Sphere Room…
SCENE #211B – EXT – OUTER SPACE – N/A
DOCTOR 7 (V’O)
(focuses) …This is while we’re inside sixty cubicles in the Sphere Room, but it’s not enough…
DOCTOR 8 (V’O)
(focuses) …However, the Sphere has enough reserves…
DOCTOR 9 (V’O)
(focuses) …to allow us to send a message to anyone out there in our Universe to summon help…
DOCTOR 10 (V’O)
(focuses) …We ask you – that is, the Doctors and our friends – ask you to give us a helping hand…
DOCTOR 11 (V’O)
(focuses) …It’s simple really. Concentrate on our voices and project your minds…
DOCTOR 12 (V’O)
(focuses) …to us Doctors and our friends. That will give us the extra boost of mental energy we need…
SCENE #211C – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(focuses) …in order to restore the Multiverse. Simply hear our voices and reach out.
DOCTORS (V’O)
(focuses; in unison) Please help us. We need all the help we can get.
As the thirteen Doctors keep sending out their message, their friends and everyone else in the cubicles wait patiently.
JAMIE
‘Ere, Zoe. Do you think what the Doctors are doing is going to work?
ZOE
I hope so. It’d be a shame if the Doctors couldn’t reach out to anyone.
BILL
It doesn’t seem to be working so far.
BRIGADIER
(dismayed) The Doctors’ attempts to secure help have been in vain.
RORY
(frustrated) Great. Just great. And we’re concentrating hard enough as it is whilst inside these cubicles.
AMY
Rory, shut up. The Doctors will get through. They must. Keep concentrating and don’t give up!
KATE
(realises) Wait, hold on. I think… Yes! I can hear voices coming through.
OSGOOD
Voices? (realises) Wait, you’re right, ma’am. I can hear them too.
NYSSA
They’re not clear yet, but there are voices coming through as we speak.
BILLY
(calls) Doctors, I think you sending out your message has worked. There are new voices in our heads.
The Doctors come out of their telepathic contact with each other.
DOCTOR 5
(astonished) Really, Billy? That’s good!
DOCTOR 10
(pleased) Now we’re getting somewhere. I wonder who’s going to be first on the hotline.
Just then, a voice comes through.
GRAHAM (V’O)
(calls) Doctor! Doc, can you hear me? It’s me, Graham.
DOCTOR 13
(realises; overjoyed) Graham O’Brien! (calls) Yes, I can hear you, Graham! Can you hear me?
SCENE #212 – INT – LIVING ROOM, GRAHAM’S HOUSE – DAY, MORNING
In Graham O’Brien’s house in Sheffield on the planet Earth…
GRAHAM
(in pain) Ooh, easy on the ears. (snaps out of it) Yes, I hear you, Doc. Receiving you loud and clear.
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(relieved) Graham, it’s good to hear from you.
GRAHAM
Likewise, Doc. I heard you needed a helping hand, so I thought I’d answer the call.
DOCTOR 1 (V’O)
(annoyed) Why is it everyone keeps calling me ‘Doc’? It’s Doctor!
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(excitedly) Yaz, it’s Graham! He’s come to help us.
YAZ (V’O)
I hear him, Doctor. I think I can see him too in my mind.
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
So can I. He’s slightly faint, but he’s coming into focus.
DAN (V’O)
Is this the Graham you travelled with before me? One of your best buds?
YAZ (V’O)
Yes, Dan. One of the best. (cheerily) Hi Graham!
GRAHAM
Alright, Yaz? Hope you’re keeping the Doc well.
YAZ (V’O)
I’m trying my best. This is Dan by the way. I don’t know if you can see him.
GRAHAM
Of course I can. Good to meet you, Dan.
DAN (V’O)
And you, Graham.
RYAN
(calls) Yaz; Doctor, I’m here too! It’s me, Ryan.
YAZ (V’O)
(amazed) Ryan! (relieved) Thank goodness you’re here.
DOCTOR 13 (V’O)
(pleased) I’m so pleased to see and hear you, Ryan.
RYAN
Me too, Doctor. I’m glad to see you and Yaz. I couldn’t ignore your call for help either.
SCENE #213 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
DAN
(realises) Doctor, there’s somebody else coming through.
YAZ
Really, Dan? Who else have you seen?
DAN
A young man is coming into focus. Do you recognise him, Doctor?
DOCTOR 13
No, Dan, I’m afraid I don’t.
MARTY (V’O)
Hi, Doctor. It’s me, Marty!
DOCTOR 13
Marty?
YAZ
He seems to know you, Doctor.
MARTY (V’O)
You know, Marty Ross. I travel with you. I recently joined you in the TARDIS. You asked me to join you and I said ‘yes’.
DOCTOR 13
(confused) Did I? Did you? (Pause) Oh well, good to know. Nice to see you, Marty.
YAZ
(whispers) Doctor, who is he?
DOCTOR 13
(whispers) I’ve no idea, Yaz. He’s obviously someone from my future.
DAN
(whispers) Yeah. Obviously.
Meanwhile, with Nyssa, Billy and the Fifth Doctor…
NYSSA
Doctor, I see some faces coming into focus.
DOCTOR 5
Yes, Nyssa, I see them too.
BILLY
Same for me.
NYSSA
One of these faces… (Pause; realises) Doctor, it’s Adric!
ADRIC (V’O)
Doctor, can you hear me? I’m in my bedroom aboard the TARDIS. I don’t know how this is possible, but I would like to help.
DOCTOR 5
(pleased) Yes. Good old Adric.
BILLY
(realises) Doctor, there’s three more people coming through.
NYSSA
(realises) Yes! And I recognise one of them. It’s Tegan!
TEGAN (V’O)
Doctor; Nyssa! Don’t give up now. Brave heart! Isn’t that what you always tell me, Doctor?
MICHAEL (V’O)
Hi Doctor. It’s me, Michael. You may not have met me yet, but I’ve come to help get you out of the spot of bother you’re in.
TURLOUGH (V’O)
(calls) Doctor, it’s Turlough. You must survive. Too many of your enemies will delight in your defeat.
BILLY
(whispers) Who are those other two, Nyssa? I didn’t recognise them.
NYSSA
(whispers) Me neither, Billy. I don’t think the Doctor recognises them either.
DOCTOR 5
(whispers) They must be from my future.
Meanwhile, with the Tenth Doctor and Donna…
DONNA
Doctor, I see a few faces coming in.
DOCTOR 10
Yeah, Donna, so can I. (Pause; realises) Is that…?
MARTHA (V’O)
(calls) Hello! Doctor; Donna! It’s me, Martha!
DOCTOR 10
(cheers) Martha Jones!
DONNA
(pleased) Oh, it’s so good to see you again, Martha!
MARTHA (V’O)
And you, Donna. The Doctor said he wanted help. I couldn’t refuse after all the times he’s helped to save planet Earth.
DONNA
(realises; overjoyed) Doctor! I see ‘gramps’!
WILFRED (V’O)
Aye, aye, Trouble. Good to see you, Donna. Still travelling with the Doctor, are you? You go, my girl!
DOCTOR 10
(pleased) Thank you so much, Wilfred. Good to know I can rely on one of Donna’s family to help out.
DONNA
(realises; intrigued) Doctor, there’s another person coming through. Who’s that?
DOCTOR 10
(intrigued) I dunno. I’ve not met her before.
CHRISTINA (V’O)
Hello, you good boy. Lady Christina at your service. Couldn’t ignore your voice, could I?
DARBY
(realises; excitedly) Doctor, it’s Christina! We’ve found her!
DOCTOR 4
James, please. I need you to concentrate.
DARBY
(excitedly) But Doctor, we’ve found her! After all this time…
DOCTOR 4
(grits teeth) James; now is not the time. And we haven’t found her yet!
DOCTOR 13
(realises) Everyone, listen. I think it’s working. Our attempt to access the interdimensional zones is working at last!
DOCTOR 10
(realises) Yeah, I believe you’re right. We’re gaining access to zone six.
DOCTOR 5
I concur.
NYSSA
Indeed. Our access to zone six is being established.
BILLY
I can see London and New York clearly in my mind now.
DONNA
Thanks to the extra mental energy our mates gave us.
DAN
(relieved) Thank goodness.
YAZ
I’m glad we’re getting somewhere at last.
SCENE #214 – EXT – LONDON/NEW YORK (2023) (ZONE #6) – DAY, MORNING
In zone #6 of the interdimensional network, the cities of London and New York begin to phase out and disentangle from each other spatially and temporally. The Cybermen stomp about in London and New York whilst this happens.
SCENE #215 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
DOCTOR 13
Let’s hope this is working in the other interdimensional zones too.
With the First Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara…
DOCTOR 1
(eagerly; to Doctor 13) I believe it is, my dear. (laughs) Yes! I believe it is!
SUSAN
Grandfather, I can see faces coming into focus at our end.
IAN
These must be more of your friends, Doctor.
BARBARA
Friends who travel with you in the TARDIS.
DOCTOR 1
Yes, Barbara. (Pause) Friends I’ve yet to travel with.
VICKI (V’O)
(calls) Hello, Doctor. It’s me, Vicki. I’ve missed you so much.
STEVEN (V’O)
Doctor, it’s me, Steven. I won’t back out in helping you today.
DODO (V’O)
I’m here too. It’s me, Dodo. Sending my love and help.
With the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe…
JAMIE
‘Ere, Doctor. I can see some faces too. (Pause; realises) Hey, Doctor, it’s…
DOCTOR 2
(pleased) Yes, Jamie. It’s Ben and Polly.
POLLY (V’O)
Doctor; Jamie! Don’t worry, we’re here for you. Just like the good old days.
BEN (V’O)
(cheerily) Yeah, where would you be without Duchess and me?
JAMIE
(realises; thrilled) And look, Doctor, look! It’s Victoria!
VICTORIA (V’O)
Hello, Doctor; Jamie. Oh it’s really good to see you two again.
DOCTOR 2
(pleased) Oh dear Victoria. How good of you to come at a time like this.
ZOE
Is this the Victoria that came before me, Jamie?
JAMIE
(thrilled) Aye, Zoe, it is. It’s our friend Victoria alright.
ACE
(realises; happily) Nyssa; Billy; Jo! There’s the fifth member of our Lonmar family.
NYSSA
Indeed, Ace, I see her. I don’t know if she can see us though.
BILLY
Well, whether she can or not, it’s still good to see Victoria.
JO
I look forward to meeting her when I get to Lonmar.
DOCTOR 1
(realises; pleased) My dear fellow! I believe our access to zone one is getting easier.
DOCTOR 2
(pleased) Agreed, Doctor. Our access to the island is stronger.
SCENE #216 – EXT – ISLAND (1863/2563) (ZONE #1) – NIGHT
In zone #1 of the interdimensional network, the island in both 1863 and 2563 starts to phase out and disentangle itself spatially and temporally. The Daleks glide about on the island whilst this happens.
COMMAND DALEK
(panics) ALERT! ALERT!!! TEMPORAL INSTABILITY DETECTED. INITIATE ESCAPE PROCEDURES!!!
SCENE #217 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
With the Third Doctor and Jo…
JO
Doctor, are these some of your friends we’re seeing now?
DOCTOR 3
Yes, Jo, I believe so. (Pause; realises) There’s Liz Shaw! (cheerily) Hello, Liz.
LIZ (V’O)
Doctor, I don’t know how this is scientifically possible, but I’m here in my capacity to help you out. I couldn’t refuse after all the times you’ve saved us.
JO
(realises) Doctor, there’s someone else coming through.
CLIFFORD (V’O)
Hello, Jo; Doctor. It’s me, Cliff. Clifford Jones. You called and I answered. I hope I did the right thing.
JO
Doctor, this man seems to know you and me. He’s especially looking at me like he knows me well.
DOCTOR 3
It’s something to look forward to in our future, I’m sure, Jo.
SARAH JANE (V’O)
(calls) Hello, Doctor. I’m here too. It’s me, Sarah Jane.
JO
Sarah Jane?
SARAH JANE (V’O)
(calls) Where are you? I wouldn’t abandon a friend at a time like this.
DOCTOR 3
Well, she seems nice enough.
DARBY
(thrilled; to Doctor 4) Doctor, it’s Sarah Jane! We got another chance to see her again!
DOCTOR 4
(pleased; nostalgic) Yes. Good old Sarah.
DOCTOR 10
(pleased; nostalgic) Indeed. Good old Sarah Jane Smith.
With the Seventh Doctor and Ace…
DOCTOR 7
Ace, can you see one of our friends coming through?
ACE
Wait, Professor. It’s… (Pause; realises) Doughnut! Professor, it’s Mel!
MEL (V’O)
(cheerfully) Hello, Doctor; hello, Ace. Melanie at your service.
DOCTOR 7
(pleased) Hello, Mel. Good to see you.
MEL (V’O)
(cheerfully) Good to see you too, Doctor. And you, Doctor.
DOCTOR 6
(surprised) Who, me? (puzzled) Err, hello, young lady. Nice to meet you.
PERI
(puzzled) Was she talking to you, Doctor?
DOCTOR 6
She was looking at me, Peri, so, yes.
ACE
(realises) Professor, there are a couple more faces.
RAINE (V’O)
(calls) Doctor; Ace. It’s me, Raine. Heard you needed a helping hand.
CHRIS (V’O)
I’m here too, Doctor. Chris Cwej at your service. Roz would have liked to have been here too.
DOCTOR 7
I’m glad we’ve been able to get the help we need from friends past and future.
DOCTOR 3
(realises) I believe our access to zone two is getting easier now, Doctor.
DOCTOR 7
(realises) Yes, I believe you’re right, Doctor. The castle and the countryside in zone two are easier to see in our minds.
SCENE #218 – EXT – CASTLE (1973+1983/1173+1183) (ZONE #2) – DAY, EVENING
In zone #2 of the interdimensional network, the castle and the countryside in 1173, 1183, 1973 and 1983 start to phase out and disentangle from each other spatially and temporally. Out on the castle grounds, the Autons stagger and sway.
AUTON #2
Danger imminent. Connection to the Nestene is being severed.
AUTON #1
All solutions must be accounted for. We must ensure our escape.
SCENE #219 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
With the Fourth Doctor and Darby…
DOCTOR 4
(cheers; delighted) Harry! (laughs) Harry Sullivan, as I live and breathe.
HARRY (V’O)
Good to see you too, Doctor. I could hardly leave you in a scrape. Sarah came, so I came too.
DOCTOR 4
(pleased) Quite right. You’re not such an imbecile after all.
DARBY
(interrupts; realises) Doctor, I see some more faces. More friends of yours?
DOCTOR 4
They should be. Though I don’t recognise any of them.
LEELA (V’O)
Doctor, it’s me, Leela, warrior of the Sevateem. A warrior never abandons those in need of help.
K-9 (V’O)
Greetings, Master. K-9 present and in help mode. Assistance required: most affirmative.
DOCTOR 10
(thrilled) Oh good boy, K-9!
ROMANA (V’O)
Doctor, I’m here too. After all the times we’ve spent in the TARDIS, I, Romanadvoratrelundar of Gallifrey, couldn’t ignore your distress call.
DOCTOR 4
(gratified) Well, good to know one of my people is helping us out with this spot of bother we’re having.
With the Sixth Doctor and Peri…
PERI
(realises; thrilled) Doctor, look, do you see him? It’s…
DOCTOR 6
(pleased) Yes, Peri. It’s our dear friend Frobisher. In all his penguin glory.
FROBISHER (V’O)
Hiya, Doc; Peri. Heard you got in a spot of bother. Thought I’d come and lend a helping flipper.
DOCTOR 1
(exasperated) First, it was people calling me ‘Doc’, now talking penguins are doing it?!
PERI
(realises) Doctor, there are two more people coming in. Who are they?
DOCTOR 6
I’ve not seen them before, Peri. But it’s good they’ve come. The more the merrier.
CONSTANCE (V’O)
Doctor, it’s me, Mrs. Clarke. I heard your call. Couldn’t ignore it, especially when you seemed earnest.
FLIP (V’O)
(cheerfully) Me neither. Flip’s here too, Doctor. Connie and I couldn’t abandon you.
DOCTOR 4
Doctor, I believe our access to zone three is granted.
DOCTOR 6
Excellent! (realises) Yes, I see the bakeries, the village and the wood a lot clearer now.
SCENE #220 – EXT – VILLAGE, ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE (1993/2013) (ZONE #3) – DAY/NIGHT
In zone #3 of the interdimensional network, the bakeries, the village and the wood in the English countryside in 1993 and 2013 start to phase out and disentangle from each other spatially and temporally. Out in the village, the Sontarans struggle to maintain their balance.
STUKK
(despairs) This can’t be how it ends, Commander. We cannot be defeated.
GROUL
(determined) There will always be another good day for us to fight, Lieutenant. Another good day to die. We shall fight hard as well as die hard.
SCENE #221 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
With the Eighth Doctor and Jen…
JEN
I assume these are friends of yours too, Doctor.
DOCTOR 8
They must be, Jen. (Pause; realises; happily) Wait, I recognise one of them. It’s Grace!
GRACE (V’O)
Hi, Doctor. I’m not good with clocks but I’m never one to ignore a call for help. I’m a doctor after all.
DOCTOR 8
And the other two. They must be from my future.
CHARLEY (V’O)
Hello, Doctor. Edwardian adventuress Charlotte Pollard at your service.
JEN
And this woman here. Who is she?
LUCIE (V’O)
Lucie ‘bleedin’ Miller! I’m not gonna give up on you, Doctor. Not now, not ever.
JEN
(amazed) You have a lot of friends, Doctor.
DOCTOR 8
I have, yes, Jen. I wonder if Mary Shelley is also among the voices answering our call for help.
DOCTOR 13
(cheerily) Oh, I’ve met Mary Shelley. She’s nice, she is.
DOCTOR 10
Yeah, she is.
DOCTOR 1
(impatiently) Can we all please concentrate!
With the Ninth Doctor and Rose…
ROSE
Doctor, I see… (realises) Doctor, my mum’s here!
JACKIE (V’O)
I hope you’re keeping my daughter safe, Doctor. I only came and answered your call to make sure that she’s okay.
DOCTOR 9
(wryly) Jackie Tyler! Always know we can rely on you to answer a call for help.
ROSE
Doctor, is that…? (Pause; realises) Doctor, you see that woman?
DOCTOR 9
(realises; overjoyed) Yes, Rose! I see her, alright.
HARRIET (V’O)
Hello, everyone. It’s me. Harriet Jones, new Prime Minister of Great Britain.
DOCTOR 9
(overjoyed) Yes! We know who you are, Harriet. Good to see you again.
HARRIET (V’O)
And you, Doctor. After you helped save the world from alien invaders, how could I not return the favour.
DOCTOR 10
(wearily) Doctor, I should warn you…
DOCTOR 11
(interrupts) No, no, it’s alright, mate. She’s good. Harriet is good. She helped save the planet Earth again in your future.
DOCTOR 10
(astonished) Did she? Oh, well, that’s good.
DOCTOR 9
And who’s that there? I don’t recognise her.
LYNDA (V’O)
Um, hello. I’m not sure how or why I got here, but I heard you needed help. So here I am. Lynda with a ‘y’ never ignores a friend in need, sweetheart.
DOCTOR 9
(pleased) Why, thank you, Lynda with a ‘y’. That’s very sweet of you.
ROSE
(interrupts) Anyway, moving on.
DOCTOR 8
Doctor, I’m sensing Egypt in zone four clearer in focus.
DOCTOR 9
So am I, Doctor. Our access to zone four is stronger than before.
SCENE #222 – EXT – DESERT, EGYPT (1963/2033) (ZONE #4) – DAY AFTERNOON
In zone #4 of the interdimensional network, Egypt in 1963 and 2033 begins to phase out and disentangle itself spatially and temporally. Out in the desert, the robot mummies stagger and sway.
SCENE #223 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
With the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory…
DOCTOR 11
(eagerly) Right! Us lot then. I wonder who we’re going to get to help us access zone five.
AMY
Doctor, look. I see…a face coming into focus. (Pause; realises) Is it…?
RORY
(wearily) Yes, Amy. It’s her.
RIVER (V’O)
Hello, sweetie. Hello, Mummy and Daddy. Professor River Song at your service.
DOCTOR 11
(unsurprised) Of course. You would show up.
RIVER (V’O)
I’d be very disappointed if you didn’t consider me helping you out, darling.
AMY
Whoa, wait. Professor? She’s a professor?
RORY
Wasn’t she a doctor when we last saw her..?
RIVER (V’O)
(hushes) Ssh! Spoilers.
DOCTOR 11
(realises) There’s someone else coming into focus. (realises; cheers) And I recognise him!
KAZRAN (V’O)
Hello, Doctor. Kazran Sardick here. I’m helping you out whilst still travelling with you. I’m sure Abigail would love to help you out too if it were Christmas Eve today.
DOCTOR 11
(pleased; cheers) Good old Kazran. Nice to know you can still hear me after the adventures we’ve had.
AMY
(realises) Look, Doctor! There’s another person coming in. I recognise her from somewhere too.
RORY
Wasn’t she on Demon’s Run?
JENNY (V’O)
(eagerly) Doctor, it’s me, Jenny. I heard your call and I’m happy to help out. My lady and Strax would have liked to have come too if they weren’t called away.
DOCTOR 11
(pleased; cheers) Aha! Lovely Jenny. Hope to catch up with you and everyone else again soon.
With the Twelfth Doctor and Bill…
DOCTOR 12
(concerned) Bill, are you coping okay?
BILL
I’m fine, Doctor. I’m just starting to get a little headache all of a sudden.
DOCTOR 12
There should be a couple of aspirins I slipped into your jacket a while ago. As well as a bottle of water.
BILL
Thanks, Doctor.
CLARA (V’O)
(calls) Doctor, it’s me, Clara. Can you hear me? Doctor!
DOCTOR 12
(realises) Clara! Clara Oswald!
CLARA (V’O)
Hello, Doctor. Good to see you again.
DOCTOR 12
(astonished) Clara Oswald! I remember. I forgot you for a bit, but now I remember.
CLARA (V’O)
Well, I’m glad you remember me, Doctor. I’m a little offended that you did for a bit.
DANNY (V’O)
Hello, Doctor. I’m here too.
DOCTOR 12
(baffled) What, P.E. teacher? You’re with Clara?
DANNY (V’O)
It’s not P.E. teacher, it’s… Oh never mind.
CLARA (V’O)
Don’t mind him, Danny. We’re here to help the Doctor and that’s what we’re going to do.
DOCTOR 12
(puzzled) No, but wait, hang on. Aren’t you dead? How come you’re with Clara?
DANNY (V’O)
It’s a long story.
BILL
Doctor, I see someone else coming through. It’s… (Pause; realises) Oh no.
NARDOLE (V’O)
And just what do you think you’re doing here, sir?
DOCTOR 12
(groans) Ah. I hoped I would avoid this.
NARDOLE (V’O)
You’re lucky that I’m able to answer your call for help at all. You should be back at St. Luke’s, sir. Once you’re back, you’re gonna get a real kick right in the…
DOCTOR 12
(interrupts) Anyway, moving on. I think that’s enough people to boost the power we need to gain access to zone five. Wouldn’t you say so, Doctor?
DOCTOR 11
Absolutely, Doctor. The African and Indian jungles are at our disposal.
SCENE #224 – EXT – TEMPLE, AFRICA/INDIA (2003/2163) (ZONE #5) – NIGHT/DAY, MORNING
In zone #5 of the interdimensional network, Africa in 2003 and India in 2163 begin to phase out and disentangle from each other, spatially and temporally. Outside the abandoned temple, the Zygons, led by Commander Kosol and Lieutenant Stromos, snarl and growl as the de-phasing and disentanglement takes place.
STROMOS
(snarls) We never got a chance to be on the outside, Commander!
KOSOL
(snarls) There’s still a chance, Stromos. We must hold our stand and not falter.
SCENE #225 – INT – SPHERE ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
DOCTOR 13
(cheers) Everyone, I believe we’ve cracked it. We’ve gained access to the zones in the interdimensional network, thanks to the extra help from our friends past and future.
BRIGADIER
(pleased) Marvellous news! Well done, Doctors. Well done, everyone involved.
KATE
Where do we go from here, Doctors? Now that you and your friends have access to the zones.
DOCTOR 2
The next thing to do is to separate the times and places in the spatial-temporal locations and stabilise them whilst they’re in the zones.
DOCTOR 3
This is before we put them back to where and when they came from. It wouldn’t be easy if it was just us thirteen Doctors and the friends we have with us in the cubicles.
DOCTOR 8
But now we have reinforcements. Extra support from our friends past and future.
DOCTOR 9
We should be able to speed things along quite nicely. Fantastic!
DOCTOR 5
Let’s hope so.
FRANCESCA
(bitterly) You can’t hope to win, Doctors. The mighty Salvador will overpower you!
MAGAMBO
Phillips; Khan; Jenkins, maintain your guard on the prisoner.
PHILLIPS + KHAN + JENKINS
(in unison) Yes, ma’am.
DOCTOR 13
(determined) We’ll get through this. Don’t worry, everyone. We’ll get through this even if it means calling for more help.
DOCTOR 10
She’s right. Come on, let’s press on.
DOCTOR 11
Yeah, Salvador and the Valeyard will be back soon.
DOCTOR 12
(puzzled) How come it’s taking them so long to get back here?
DOCTOR 4
You wish for them to return? Be grateful we’ve got all the time we need to do what we have to do.
DOCTOR 7
(grimly) Which won’t be for very long, unfortunately.
DOCTOR 13
Alright, everyone. Enough talking.
DOCTOR 1
Indeed, my dear. Let’s begin separating the spatial locations from their temporal states.
DOCTOR 6
Concentrate, everyone. Our futures depend on this.
PERI
Whatever you say, Doctor.
IAN
Let’s hope we’ll be able to work faster on this from now on.
BARBARA
We should with the extra friends we’ve got to help us.
DOCTOR 10
Keep concentrating, everyone.
The Doctors and their friends keep it whilst they’re in their cubicles.
SCENE #226 – INT – CORRIDOR, ENEMY BASE – N/A
Meanwhile, with Salvador, he sees the Valeyard come out of his TARDIS in the corridor. The Valeyard carries an elongated device in his hands.
VALEYARD
Here I am, Salvador. Now we can deal with the Doctors.
SALVADOR
(annoyed) You took your time. What is that contraption you have?
VALEYARD
I shall use this to penetrate the TARDIS force fields surrounding the Doctors and their friends. Or at least one of them.
SALVADOR
Is that device really effective?
VALEYARD
Of course. It’s more effective than creating matter out of thin air.
SALVADOR
I object to that insinuation. It’s also insolent!
VALEYARD
I’m surprised you didn’t break down the TARDIS force fields yourself once the Doctors had set them up.
SALVADOR
Temporal manipulation isn’t my strong point. Matter manipulation is what I can achieve.
VALEYARD
You travel the boundaries of time and you can’t manipulate it. I’m surprised, Salvador.
SALVADOR
Travelling through time is the only thing the Doctor gave me when he experimented on me all those years ago.
VALEYARD
I recall your history well, Salvador.
SALVADOR
(suspiciously) How can you recall my history? We don’t know each other that well.
A moment of tense silence.
VALEYARD
It does not matter. Let’s get to the Sphere Room.
Salvador stops the Valeyard in his tracks.
SALVADOR
(suspiciously) What is it you’re not telling me? How and where did you learn my history? Not from a Gallifreyan textbook, surely.
VALEYARD
There’s no time to discuss this now. We must be swift. My temporal manipulator will help to break down one of the TARDIS force fields if we don’t be quick about it. We must secure the Doctor’s plea of guilt.
The Valeyard heads off. Salvador watches him go before he follows him.
SALVADOR
(quietly; determined) Very well. But I shall soon learn what your secret is.
