‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Delta and the Bannermen’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to have a look at my favourite story out of Season 24 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Bonnie Langford as Mel. Today, it’s time for ‘Delta and the Bannermen’, a three-part adventure by Malcolm Kohll. Most of this story takes place at a holiday camp in South Wales in 1959. There are special guest stars like Don Henderson, Belinda Mayne, Richard Davies, Stubby Kaye, Morgan Dearne, Hugh Lloyd, Sara Griffiths and of course Ken Dodd. This is definitely a classic ‘Doctor Who’ adventure to check out during a summer heatwave. 😀 ‘Delta and the Bannermen’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Caves of Androzani’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Season 21 isn’t over yet, but it’s time for the Peter Davison/Fifth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ to come to an end. It’s time for ‘The Caves of Androzani’, a four-part story by Robert Holmes. This is rated as possibly the best ‘Doctor Who’ story ever made in the entire TV series. Is this something I agree with? In the story, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri visit the planet Androzani Minor, where they step into some raw spectrox and start to die from it. Can the Fifth Doctor save Peri in time from the poisonous effects of the deadly spectrox? There are some special guest cameos of Janet Fielding as Tegan, Mark Strickson as Turlough, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric, Kamelion, voiced by Gerald Flood, and Anthony Ainley as the Master in the story. ‘The Caves of Androzani’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ by Eric Saward, the fourth story in Season 21 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Originally, this story was meant to be a four-part adventure before it became a two-part bumper edition story, with the episodes having lengths of 45 minutes each. The story has Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor fighting against the Daleks, along with their creator Davros, played by Terry Molloy. This story also features the final regular appearance of Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka. Mark Strickson also appears as Turlough, and there’s a special guest star appearance of Rodney Bewes, who was in ‘The Likely Lads’ and ‘Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads’. ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Bidmead writing for the Fifth Doctor again. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Five Doctors’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’, as we take a look at the 20th anniversary special called ‘The Five Doctors’ by Terrance Dicks. ‘The Five Doctors’ stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, William Hartnell and Richard Hurndall as the First Doctor, Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, and Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. There’s also Janet Fielding as Tegan, Mark Strickson as Turlough, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Lalla Ward as Romana and more. I highly recommend watching the 101-minute Special Edition version of ‘The Five Doctors’, as that has more scenes and CGI effects in it. You can check out the Special Edition version on Disc 2 of the 25th Anniversary 2-disc DVD edition of ‘The Five Doctors’. There’s also the original 90-minute TV version of the story, which can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

As well as Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, this story also features Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan, Mark Strickson as Turlough and Valentine Dyall as the Black Guardian. There’s also the introduction of the Vanir and the wolf-like Garm. ‘Terminus’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading
