‘MYTH MAKERS: THE PETER DAVISON TEAM, VOL. 2’

Please feel free to comment on my review.

On the second disc of ‘The Doctors: The Peter Davison Years’ DVD compilation, we have ‘The Peter Davison Team, Vol. 2’ convention panel video, which was recorded at ‘PanoptiCon VIII’ back in 1987.

The panel talk has Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Janet Fielding. At the time of recording, the transmission of Sylvester McCoy’s first season of ‘Doctor Who’ – Season 24 – had just begun on TV. 🙂

I enjoyed the convention panel with Peter, Sarah and Janet. It was fun to hear them share anecdotes about working on the TV show. David Banks, the Cyber Leader, introduced them that day.

Peter did injure himself whilst doing the convention panel talk with Sarah and Janet. He had cut his finger on a chair and apparently, he was bleeding quite a lot. I assume that the chair was wooden. 😀

I enjoyed how Sarah became the nurse for Peter’s injured finger by giving him tissues and bandages. She justifies being Peter’s nurse on that occasion, since she is married to a medical doctor after all. 🙂

Meanwhile, Janet auctioned Peter’s blood to people. 😀 It’s so funny how Sarah is the more caring and understanding person whilst Janet is trying to make a joke out of it whilst doing the panel talk. 🙂

Watching these convention panel talks featuring Peter, Sarah and Janet and other guests of the Fifth Doctor era makes me wish to see these celebrities at conventions again. It’s always fun to see them.

Incidentally, like with ‘The Peter Davison Team, Vol. 1’, Matthew Waterhouse provides the introduction and the linking material for the second ‘Peter Davison team’ panel talk, which is terrific.

It’s also amusing how Matthew, in his introduction and linking material, takes it lightly when Peter, Sarah and Janet make fun of him when he’s not around, especially since he’s working at the time. 😀

It was funny when there were four Sarah’s on the screen behind her whilst the actual panel feed was being shown at the convention and on DVD. 😀 Have we entered the multiverse of Sarah Sutton’s? 😀

As Peter was being attended to by Sarah with tissues and bandages, he eventually got around to talking about the ‘boob tube’ story with Janet Fielding, which had been mentioned in ‘Volume 1’. 😀

The ‘boob tube’ story must be popular, especially when it’s talked about twice at two ‘PanoptiCon’ conventions. It was even talked about during ‘Part One’ of ‘The Television Centre of the Universe’. 😀

That was on Disc 2 of ‘The Visitation’ 2-disc Special Edition DVD, which was released in 2013. I wonder if Janet ever gets tired of the story being told again and again, and whether she is embarrassed by it. 😐

I found it funny when Peter and Sarah demanded to know what happened to Des and Daphne in ‘Neighbours’. Who knew they watched ‘Neighbours’? I didn’t see much of that soap opera as a kid.

I liked it when Sarah mentioned that ‘Black Orchid’ is one of her favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories from the TV series. Thankfully, Peter and Janet didn’t make complaints about it whilst doing the panel talk.

Peter also mentions that his two favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories are ‘Earthshock’ and ‘The Caves of Androzani’. It was interesting how he talked about radio work and not enjoying it compared to TV. 😐

Of course, Peter has done many Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ over the years, so he must have had a change of heart regards audio work. Perhaps doing Big Finish audios is better than radio work.

It was intriguing to hear how Peter, Sarah and Janet talked about not being exactly like their characters, and how much of themselves they had to put into playing the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan.

It was interesting when Peter shared his doubts about a ‘Doctor Who’ movie being made. I enjoyed it when he, Sarah and Janet reacted to Patrick Stewart featuring in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’.

The panel talk ends with Peter Davison giving a posthumous award in the Hall of Fame by the ‘Doctor Who Appreciation Society’ to Robert Holmes’ daughter, which was quite nice to watch indeed.

‘The Peter Davison Team, Vol. 2’ panel talk has been enjoyable indeed. I liked it when Sarah Sutton became a nurse to Peter Davison once he injured his finger on a chair, as she’s so caring and thoughtful. 🙂

‘Myth Makers: The Peter Davison Team, Vol. 2’ rating – 9/10
