‘FOUL PLAY IN THE SKY’ (MMPR)
Please feel free to comment on my review.

In this ‘Power Rangers’ episode, Kimberley gets to fly a plane with her Uncle Steve. However, this joyride is spoiled when Bulk and Skull tag along for the ride. To make matters worse, Rita Repulsa sends Squatt to slip a sleeping potion into Uncle Steven’s drink. Once he’s asleep, trouble ensues. 😮
This is all part of Rita’s plan to distract the other Rangers when she sends in her latest monster called Snizzard (voiced by Bryan Cranston) to attack Angel Grove. Kimberly has to pilot the plane back to the Angel Grove airport, with her uncle fast asleep, and Bulk and Skull unconscious, having fainted. Alpha helps Kimberley on this.
This is an enjoyable episode, especially as it sees Kimberley in a situation where she doesn’t know what to do. Mind you, I thought it was obvious that Kimberley should fly the plane when her Uncle Steve, Bulk and Skull were out. This episode did put me in mind of a ‘Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Them’ Christmas Special.
In the episode, the other Rangers teens: Jason, Trini, Zack and Billy struggle in their fight against Snizzard. This is especially when Snizzard fires snakes at the Rangers to weaken them whilst they’re fighting him. Fortunately, Kimberley soon arrives and slices the snakes off the Rangers to free them.
It’s interesting to note that as the plane passes over some mountains in Angel Grove, Kimberley recollects the first time when she and her friends became the Power Rangers in ‘Day of the Dumpster’. This allows us a flashback to that episode, including footage not shown in that episode. 😐
This episode also introduces us to a new character – Renee Griggs as Angela. She becomes a potential love interest for Zack. He tries to hit on her, but she tells him to “Get real!”. That was rather unfair. I know how Zack feels, since I’ve been in that situation where girls have rejected me. 😦
There isn’t a Megazord fight at the episode’s end. Kimberley as the Pink Ranger uses her Power Bow to defeat Snizzard. In a way, I quite like how some ‘Power Rangers’ episodes don’t end with a Megazord fight, as that can get repetitive if the Rangers keep using the Megazord in every episode. 🙂
‘Foul Play in the Sky’ is an enjoyable episode in ‘Mighty Morphin’. It’s interesting how it highlights Kimberly’s character, and how she pilots a plane before she goes off to rescue the Rangers. It’s also intriguing how Bulk and Skull become involved with their usual bumbling antics throughout the story.
‘Foul Play in the Sky’ (MMPR) rating – 7/10
