‘THE MORECAMBE & WISE CHRISTMAS SHOW 1973’

Please feel free to comment on my review.

The fifth Christmas Special again contains some really funny and enjoyable moments with Eric and Ernie interacting with the guest stars. I feel that these Christmas Specials are getting better and better.

The guest stars for this Christmas Special are as follows. There are the actresses Vanessa Redgrave and Hannah Gordon; the musical actor John Hanson and of course the song group – The New Seekers.

There are also cameo appearances of André Previn; Laurence Olivier; Yehudi Menuhin and Rudolf Nureyev in the episode. This is the running gag where Eric and Ernic try to get these stars in their show.

This episode contains memorable moments such as the bedroom scene between Eric and Ernie where Eric tries to get Ernie out of his side of the bed to sleep in. I recall watching that scene vividly on a VHS.

Hannah Gordon gets to sing ‘The Windmills of Your Mind’ against a wind generator that blows her dress off. I also recall the scene vividly when watching a ‘Morecambe & Wise’ VHS when I was young.

Vanessa Redgrave joins in an Latin American Extravaganza and performs a play about Napoleon and Josephine. Ernie plays Napoleon; Vanessa plays Josephine and Eric is Lord Ellington (sorry Wellington).

‘The Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show 1973’ rating – 8/10
