‘RICHARD’S NEW HOBBY’

In this episode, Richard is given a new hobby by Hyacinth. He’s given his video camera, which was his retirement present from work. Hyacinth encourages him to do some filming with his video camera. Richard is reluctant to do so, but he eventually agrees and he goes about filming for some locations.

This episode also features Charmian May as Mrs. Councillor Nugent. Hyacinth wants to impress Mrs. Nugent in order to be on her council. She ropes Elizabeth in to help. It was funny when Elizabeth held one of Hyacinth’s cups without her in the room. It flies out of her hand once Hyacinth enters. 😀

Onslow is also continually concerned about Richard’s well-being from the previous episode. He eventually goes in his car to visit Richard at Hyacinth’s house. Rose joins him. But Hyacinth is embarrassed to see Onslow and tries to get rid of him. Very soon, Onslow’s car breaks down outside.

I found it funny when Hyacinth said, “Onslow! Move this car!” Onslow gives her a look and says, “I’m trying to move the car!” You could easily put that on a loop and I believe it would be funny whilst watching it. Honestly, Hyacinth doesn’t get it when cars break down since she won’t ‘give it a shove’.

It was funny when Mrs. Councillor Nugent helped to push Onslow’s car. Rose, Liz and Hyacinth help too. Hyacinth tries to make out that Onslow and Rose are part of Richard’s upcoming film, which impresses Mrs. Nugent greatly. Mrs. Nugent wants a part in Richard’s film, which Hyacinth agrees to.

So long as Mrs. Nugent can provide Hyacinth with a seat on her council. I don’t think Hyacinth would have lasted long on that council. Mrs. Nugent would make all the decisions. Onslow and Rose are able to get their car working again after Hyacinth, Liz and Mrs. Nugent have gone back in the house.

The episode ends with Richard being taken home in a police car, after he was caught filming with his video camera. The two policemen are played by Matthew Long and Jonathan Stratt. They don’t believe his story about trying to film something on his video camera instead of lurking in the park. 😐

It was so funny when Hyacinth saw the two policemen with Richard after Mrs. Nugent and Liz come out in their costumes for Richard’s film. Hyacinth bundles them into the house. It would have been nice to have seen what Richard’s camera footage was like. Sadly we aren’t given that chance here. 😦
