Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In case you missed it yesterday, I’ve updated my review on ‘The Happiness Patrol’, the second story of Season 25 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. In doing so, I’ve shared a brand-new review on the ‘Girls! Girls! Girls! – The Eighties’ discussion featuring Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Janet Fielding (Tegan) and Sophie Aldred (Ace). The discussion is introduced by Peter Purves, who plays Steven Taylor in ‘Doctor Who‘. Continue reading

Season 25 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Sylvester McCoy on Blu-ray #2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, it’s time to check out the second story in Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Happiness Patrol’, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. I’ve updated and extended my thoughts on the story, based on my revisit of ‘The Happiness Patrol’ via the Season 25 Blu-ray box set. ‘The Happiness Patrol’ is a three-part adventure by Graeme Curry, who sadly passed away in 2019. Like ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’, there are two versions of the story on two discs in the Season 25 Blu-ray box set. There’s the original three-part story on Disc 3 and the three-part Special Edition version of ‘The Happiness Patrol’ on Disc 4. Continue reading

‘Beast Wars’ Review #19 – ‘Possession’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time again for another ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ episode in Season 1 of the TV series. Today, we’re checking out a rather unique and special ‘Beast Wars’ episode. In this episode, the Maximals and the Predacons meet Starscream, a Decepticon from the ‘Transformers’ Generation 1 TV series. Starscream’s spark comes to Earth and takes possession of Waspinator, one of the Predacons. I never saw this ‘Beast Wars’ episode as a kid in the 1990s. I saw it when I purchased the ‘Beast Wars’ 15th anniversary DVD box set for Christmas in December 2011. In-between the 1990s and 2011, I did see episodes of the ‘Transformers’ G1 TV series as well as the 1986 ‘Transformers’ movie to know who Starscream was as a character in this ‘Beast Wars’ episode. Was it a satisfying episode to sit through? Did it meet my expectations in being the first ‘Transformers’ G1/‘Beast Wars’ crossover in the ‘Beast Wars’ TV series? Continue reading

Quick TV Reviews – ‘Dame Patricia Routledge Remembers… Keeping Up Appearances’ & ‘Dame Patricia Routledge Remembers… Hetty Wainthropp Investigates’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

This year, we sadly lost Dame Patricia Routledge, well-known for playing Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced ‘Bouquet’ 😀 ) in ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ and has played Hetty Wainthropp in ‘Hetty Wainthropp Investigates’. I will cherish very fond memories of watching her. 🙂 Continue reading

Season 25 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Sylvester McCoy on Blu-ray #1

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s taken me a while, but I’m at last checking out and sharing my updated reviews on Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. This is the 25th anniversary season of ‘Doctor Who’, which was shown from October 1988 to January 1989. The Blu-ray box set came out in October 2024, but I had to check out Seasons 15 and 20 on Blu-ray first before getting onto sharing my updated thoughts on the four stories in Season 25. Let’s begin out look into Season 25 by checking out ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’, a four-part story by Ben Aaronvitch, who makes his first contribution to the TV series. Continue reading

‘Beast Wars’ Review #18 – ‘Dark Voyage’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s October and we’re back on track with checking out the rest of the ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ TV series. Let’s continue by checking out another exciting episode in Season 1 of ‘Beast Wars’ called ‘Dark Voyage’. It’s an episode where four Maximals – Rhinox, Cheetor, Rattrap and Dinobot – get caught in an Energon explosion and are blinded. They must find their way back to the Maximals’ base through darkness whilst overcoming obstacles, including being attacked by Predacons. I did see this episode on GMTV over the Christmas holidays from 1999 to 2000 and it was after seeing Season 2 of ‘Beast Wars’ in 1999. I recorded the episode on VHS to watch again and again, and years later, I owned the episode in ‘The Beginning’ Volume 3 VHS release. I also saw the episode when I purchased the ‘Beast Wars’ 15th anniversary DVD box set for Christmas in December 2011. It’s great to revisit these ‘Beast Wars’ episodes and update my reviews on them, having such fond memories of watching the TV series as a kid in the 1990s. Continue reading

Book Review – ‘Iron Man’ (Novelization)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

To honour the memory of Peter David, who sadly passed away in May 2025, I’ve read and reviewed the movie novelization of the first ‘Iron Man’ movie in the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’. It’s been great to check out this movie novelization and find out how the ‘MCU’ begins in prose form via Peter David’s superb writing style. Continue reading

Cinema Experience – ‘Trapped In The Sky’ & ‘Terror In New York City’ (Thunderbirds)

On Saturday the 20th of September 2025, I saw a double bill of ‘Thunderbirds’ episodes shown at the ODEON Cinema in Cardiff Bay, including ‘Trapped In The Sky’ and ‘Terror In New York City’. This was to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ‘Thunderbirds’ TV series. Continue reading
