Season 15 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the second story of Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Invisible Enemy’ by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. Yes! This is where K-9 makes his debut as a ‘Doctor Who’ companion in the classic TV series. Or rather where K-9 Mark I makes his debut. It’s been great to revisit ‘The Invisible Enemy’ on Blu-ray, especially through the CGI effects option. The story is directed by Derrick Goodwin, who makes his only contribution to the classic TV series. Continue reading

David Troughton guest stars as King Peladon whilst Geoffrey Toone guest stars as Hepesh, the High Priest of Peladon. There are the Ice Warriors who make an appearance in this ‘Doctor Who’ story as well as Galactic Federation delegates like Alpha Centauri and Arcturus. Continue reading

Quick TV Review – ‘Doctor Who: 60 Years of Secrets and Scandals’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

On Saturday the 25th of November, I saw the Channel 5 documentary ‘Doctor Who: 60 Years of Secrets and Scandals’ at 8:30pm. I found this a fascinating documentary put together by Channel 5, as it explores what went on in the TV show’s making – both classic and new – and the issues it had. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘School Reunion’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In today’s instalment of the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon, we have a special new TV series ‘Doctor Who’ episode from Series 2 called ‘School Reunion’ by Toby Whithouse. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose reunite with Noel Clarke as Mickey, as they investigate some strange goings-on at Deffry Vale School. The Doctor is also reunited with his best friend Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, who makes a tremendous return to the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series before going on to star in her own spin-off TV series ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. There’s also the return of K-9, voiced by John Leeson (Sarah Jane received the Mark III model of K-9 as a gift from the Doctor in the 1981 spin-off special ‘K-9 & Company’). This episode also introduces the monstrous Krillitanes, led by Anthony Head as the villainous Mr. Finch. ‘School Reunion’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Warriors of the Deep’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on Peter Davison’s third and final season as the Fifth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ – Season 21. The season ends with a peculiar entry, but we’ll get to that eventually. We begin Season 21 with ‘Warriors of the Deep’, a four-part story by Johnny Byrne, featuring the return of the Silurians and the Sea Devils. This story also introduces the Myrka. Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor is joined by Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Strickson as Turlough. Does this story start the season off on a good note? 😐 ‘Warriors of the Deep’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Warriors’ Gate’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’ve come to the end of ‘The E-Space Trilogy’, but not the end of Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘Warriors’ Gate’, a four-part adventure by Stephen Gallagher, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana, K-9, voiced by John Leeson, and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. This is quite an unusual and mind-boggling story to check out in Season 18. Does it end ‘The E-Space Trilogy’ on a satisfying conclusion? This story also features the departure of Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 Mark II. ‘Warriors’ Gate’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Creature From The Pit’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’re now on the third story of Season 17 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘The Creature From The Pit’, a four-part story by David Fisher. As well as Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Lalla Ward as Romana, there’s K-9 (now voiced by David Brierley). This story also features guest stars like Myra Frances, Eileen Way and Geoffrey Bayldon. Is the titular creature as scary as it sounds or will it end up being ridiculous? 😀 ‘The Creature From The Pit’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Stones of Blood’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s another one of my favourite stories in ‘The Key to Time’ season (Season 16) of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time to check out ‘The Stones of Blood’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher. In the story, Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Mary Tamm as Romana, and K-9, voiced by John Leeson visit the planet Earth to locate the third segment of the Key to Time. They come across a stone circle where alien stones come to life and suck people dry of their blood. This is another story that helped me with my ‘Doctor Who’ writing, particularly for the ‘Fifth Doctor’ adventure ‘The Railway of Time’. 🙂 ‘The Stones of Blood’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox.
