SCENE #154 – INT – CENTRAL CHAMBER, TEMPLE (2003/2163) (ZONE #5) – NIGHT
Back in zone #5 with the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, they’re still at it with checking out the computer terminals in the abandoned temple’s central chamber. Amy, Rory, Bill, Yaz and Dan are still looking for any doors that may allow the Zygons to get in.
DOCTOR 5
This seems to be taking a while.
DOCTOR 10
I’m not even sure the information we’ve found is what we’re looking for.
DOCTOR 12
If only our resident geography teacher didn’t muck around with the controls.
DOCTOR 11
I wasn’t mucking around. I was experimenting with what controls worked, as anyone would.
DOCTOR 12
As long as your experiments don’t shut down your panel too. You managed to shut down the other control panels earlier.
DOCTOR 11
That was a genuine mistake, mate. No need to get hoity-toity.
DOCTOR 5
It did take us about a quarter of an hour to get back up to speed.
DOCTOR 10
Imagine what we could have done in the quarter-hour we lost.
DOCTOR 11
(annoyed) Why is everybody picking on me?
At that moment, Yaz and Dan return.
DAN
Hey, Doctors. Have you found anything that can help us?
DOCTOR 12
I thought you were looking around for any open doors.
YAZ
Amy, Rory and Bill are still working on it. We wanted to hear a progress report.
DOCTOR 5
Yes, well, unfortunately, as we suspected, the information isn’t forthcoming as we hoped.
DOCTOR 10
We’ve been scavenging around these computer terminals to look up answers.
DOCTOR 12
But every time we come across a menu with pages containing data, it’s blocked.
YAZ
Encryption? Can’t you use your sonic screwdrivers to decrypt the data?
DOCTOR 10
Tried that. Doesn’t seem to work.
DAN
What about combining your sonic screwdrivers?
DOCTOR 5
We thought that too, but there isn’t an information page that commands our attention yet.
DOCTOR 11
(realises) Ha! I think we’ve got something!
DOCTOR 10
Got what?
DOCTOR 11
Whilst the rest of you were gabbing away, I came across a section in the terminals’ database that reads Portal Control. It could be what we need. You see, I’m not that useless.
DOCTOR 12
Let’s take a look.
The Fifth, Tenth and Twelfth Doctors examine what the Eleventh Doctor has found.
DOCTOR 5
(realises) Yes, I see what you mean. (Pause) The portal gateway technology that U.N.I.T. have been using is still part of the Gallifreyan interdimensional manipulator that me and ‘rainbow jumper me’ discovered. It seems to connect together.
DOCTOR 10
(realises) Yeah, it does. Maybe this will give us what we need to open a portal and gain access to where the base of operations outside the interdimensional network is.
YAZ
(eagerly) Then what are we waiting for?
DAN
Yeah, go on, Doctors. Use your sonic screwdrivers to unlock the encryption.
DOCTOR 11
Right, Doctors, if you’ll all join me. My sonic screwdriver is ready.
DOCTOR 5
As are the rest of our sonic screwdrivers.
DOCTOR 10
Couldn’t agree more.
DOCTOR 12
Let’s buzz away then.
With that, the four Doctors apply their sonic screwdrivers to the Eleventh Doctor’s computer terminal. The sonic screwdrivers buzz away once they’ve been switched on. It takes a while for the Doctors to unlock the encryption for ‘Portal Control’ in the terminals’ database.
YAZ
(apprehensively) Is it working?
DOCTOR 10
It’d better be.
DOCTOR 5
We just need to give our sonic screwdrivers time to decode the encryption.
Bill joins Yaz and Dan.
BILL
Hi. Miss much?
DAN
The Doctors may be onto something. We’re waiting to find out.
BILL
(intrigued) Oh? What have they found?
Bleeping noises echo from the Eleventh Doctor’s computer terminal.
DOCTOR 11
(cheers) Aha! We’ve done it! We’ve gained access to Portal Control.
DOCTOR 10
Now we’re making progress.
DOCTOR 11
Let’s see what options they have.
The Eleventh Doctor soon types away at the computer terminal, accessing the options in the Portal Control section. The other Doctors observe whilst the Eleventh Doctor types away.
DOCTOR 5
Intriguing. There are portal access points to the other interdimensional zones.
DOCTOR 10
So, anyone with access to this terminal from zone five is able to access zones one, two, three, four and six from here.
DOCTOR 12
I wonder if the other zones have this kind of Portal Control in special buildings like this temple. Why were we drawn to this temple with all its temporal breadcrumbs?
DOCTOR 5
I don’t recall sensing temporal emissions that would alert me, Pinstripe and our friends to a special building that contained Portal Control access when we were in London-New York in zone six.
DOCTOR 10
To be fair, we were tackling Cybermen at the time.
DOCTOR 11
(triumphantly) Found something.
YAZ
(eagerly) What? What have you found, Doctor?
DOCTOR 11
There’s an option that says Home Base. (distracted; laughs) Oh goody, a new Homebase. I need to get a new drill and some new floor tiles for my TARDIS…
DOCTOR 12
(interrupts) You were saying?
DOCTOR 11
(clears throat) Anyway, moving on. (continues) As you can see, this Home Base option is distinct from the options that lead to zones one, two, three and all that. It could be what we’re looking for.
DOCTOR 10
You could be right there. The thing is, will we be able to open a portal from here?
DOCTOR 5
And if we do, what should we find when we enter the portal?
DOCTOR 11
Well, we won’t get anywhere by asking questions all day.
AMY
(realises; calls) Hey, Doctors! We’ve found something. It’s a door, we nearly missed it
RORY
(calls) Shouldn’t this one be locked? We don’t want anyone to…
Just then, the Zygons charge in. Amy and Rory are startled and scared out of their wits, as they back away to rejoin the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Yaz, Dan and Bill.
DOCTOR 11
(calls; concerned) Amy; Rory, what is it? Tell us what’s happening!
AMY
(cries) The Zygons, Doctor! They’ve found us!
RORY
They’ve broken in!
DOCTOR 12
(annoyed) How is it you three didn’t help Amy and Rory when they needed it?!
BILL
We searched our ends of the chamber.
YAZ
We didn’t think there were any more doors to find.
DAN
Amy and Rory were nearly finished, we didn’t realise they’d be in any danger.
The four Doctors and their friends stay at the terminals whilst the Zygons advance towards them.
STROMOS
(snarls) We’ve found our fugitives, Commander. They shall not escape!
KOSOL
(snarls) Surround them! There must be no escape route.
The Zygons do as ordered, as they surround the four Doctors and their friends at the terminals.
DOCTOR 5
(to Doctor 11) Doctor, I think it’s about time we made our way to this Home Base you mentioned.
DOCTOR 10
(to Doctor 11) Couldn’t agree more. Press a button and let’s hope for the best.
The Eleventh Doctor presses the button at his computer terminal, and soon, a portal opens. The four Doctors and their friends stand back as it widens.
DOCTOR 11
(pleased) Ha! What do you know, it worked!
DOCTOR 12
(urgently) Let’s not waste time! Come on, everyone! Into the portal we go!
YAZ
What about closing the portal once we’re in? We mustn’t let the Zygons…
DOCTOR 10
(interrupts; urgently) No time for chatting! Get in while we still can!
DOCTOR 11
Yaz; Dan, you go in first. Bill, you next. Amy; Rory, you go in after them.
AMY
Gotcha, Raggedy Man.
Doing as they’re told, Yaz, Dan, Amy, Rory and Bill enter the portal.
KOSOL
(barks) After them! They must not escape!
DOCTOR 5
Our friends have gone in. (Pause) Right! Into the portal we go, gentlemen!
DOCTOR 10
Allons-sy!
DOCTOR 11
(cries) Geronimo!
With that, the four Doctors step through. The portal is still open once they’ve gone in.
STROMOS
(snarls) What do we do, Commander?
KOSOL
(snarls) We go in, you fool! Pursue them! Capture our fugitives!
SCENE #155 – INT – QUANTUM TUNNEL, MAELSTROM – N/A
Meanwhile, the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Yaz, Dan, Amy, Rory and Bill are running slowly with Zygons on their tail.
AMY
(unnerved) Doctor, I feel as though we’re running through water.
RORY
Whatever this place is, it’s almost like a tunnel.
DOCTOR 11
That’s precisely what it is, Rory. A quantum tunnel. Artificially manufactured, I might add.
BILL
Artificially manufactured. I guess that’s not supposed to happen outside Space and Time.
DOCTOR 12
Someone is being clever with manipulating Space and Time. And as you can see, we’re in the maelstrom’s interior where the manufactured quantum tunnel is.
YAZ
(realises) Maelstrom’s interior, You mean to say…
DAN
(interjects) We’ve been in the maelstrom that we fell into this whole time? How’s that possible?
DOCTOR 10
No idea. Someone with the power of a god has been able to achieve this.
DOCTOR 5
A god with powers of infinite proportions. The maelstrom is still swirling and open to space as we speak. It’s lucky we’re still able to talk whilst in this quantum tunnel.
DOCTOR 10
We shouldn’t linger too long in the tunnel. We could be exposed to massive amounts of radiation inside the maelstrom.
YAZ
How is it we’re able to talk to each other at normal speed whilst running very slowly in the tunnel?
DAN
Shouldn’t we be talking and running slowly at the same time?
DOCTOR 5
Usually a time field in a quantum tunnel would slow down everything. But as our Glaswegian counterpart pointed out, someone is being very clever with manipulating Space and Time.
DOCTOR 10
Dangerously clever. (Pause) We must keep moving to get to this Home Base within the maelstrom. Hopefully we’ll have more answers from whoever controls this domain.
YAZ
As well as finding me and Dan’s Doctor. Hopefully she’s still alive when we find her.
DAN
And when we do find her, she may know more about what’s going on than we do.
RORY
Let’s hope the Zygons behind us won’t catch up whilst we’re in the tunnel.
Everyone looks to see the Zygons chasing after them, very slowly.
KOSOL
(barks) Keep moving! Keep moving, comrades! The Doctors and their friends must be apprehended!
STROMOS
(barks) They must pay for their crimes against us!
The Zygons snarl and growl angrily as they pursue.
AMY
(reassuringly) At least we got a head start before they chased us into the tunnel.
DOCTOR 12
(insistently) Come on, everyone! Keep moving! No time to chat.
The four Doctors and their friends keep going, as they make their way forward.
YAZ
How come it’s not instantaneous to gain access to this Home Base?
DAN
That’s what I wondered. It was quick and fast when U.N.I.T. opened their portals for us to travel into them interdimensional zones.
DOCTOR 10
The zones and U.N.I.T. HQ were in close proximity to each other. They were all in the interdimensional network.
DOCTOR 5
This is a different case, as we’re heading out of the interdimensional network to make for wherever this tunnel leads us.
DOCTOR 11
(realises) Look, everyone! Over to our right, see?
Everyone looks.
BILL
(realises) I see it. That metal box building on a rock. Is that the Home Base?
DOCTOR 12
Must be. We must get there as soon as possible.
RORY
Easier said than done stuck inside this tunnel.
DOCTOR 11
(encouragingly) We can do this! I know we can! Just keep at it!
YAZ
Once we get out of this tunnel, we must close the portal on the other side to stop the Zygons joining us.
DAN
Let’s hope there’s a handy computer terminal waiting for us.
DOCTOR 5
Let’s hope so indeed. The portal controls should be easy enough to handle. A speedy shutdown will be vital.
DOCTOR 10
Provided no encryption gets in our way.
The Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors and their friends keep going, whilst the Zygons continue to pursue them.
SCENE #156 – INT – BRIG ENTRANCE, U.N.I.T. HQ – N/A
Back in U.N.I.T. HQ, Autons are on guard outside the brig entrance. They are motionless and silence ensues.
MAGAMBO
(barks) Now! Open fire!
Instantly, a couple of shots fired from rifles hit the Autons. Once hit, liquid solution pours onto them. The Autons soon stagger and sway, before they topple over and collapse.
MAGAMBO
(barks) Cease fire.
The soldiers stop firing. After a moment’s silence, Captain Magambo and her soldiers come out of hiding and stand over the fallen Autons.
MAGAMBO
(to Autons) Didn’t see that one coming, did you? (Pause; barks) Phillips; Khan, move the Auton bodies.
PHILLIPS + KHAN
(in unison) Yes, ma’am.
Phillips and Khan go over to the Autons’ fallen bodies and move them.
MAGAMBO
Jenkins, get those brig entrance doors unlocked. Hopefully, Miss Francesca won’t have had the door controls changed at the central data terminal.
JENKINS
Right, ma’am.
Jenkins goes over to the brig entrance door controls and enters the password on a keypad. After pressing a few buttons, the brig entrance doors unlock.
JENKINS
(pleased) Ma’am, it worked. Brig entrance doors are unlocked.
MAGAMBO
(satisfied) Very convenient. Open the cell doors.
Jenkins obeys, as she opens the brig entrance doors, which go inwards.
MAGAMBO
(barks) Phillips; Khan. Get over here and help free the prisoners from their cells.
KHAN
Yes, ma’am.
PHILLIPS
Right away, ma’am.
Having finished with moving the fallen Auton bodies, Phillips and Khan rejoin Magambo and Jenkins, and they enter the brig.
SCENE #157 – INT – BRIG, U.N.I.T. HQ – N/A
Inside, Magambo has Phillips, Khan and Jenkins unlocking the prison cells to free the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Doctors, their friends, the Brigadier, Kate and all U.N.I.T. personnel.
BRIGADIER
(pleased) Captain Magambo, well done.
KATE
Yes, well done for tackling the Auton guards.
MAGAMBO
It’s my honour and duty, fellow officers.
DOCTOR 1
(impatiently) Yes, yes, yes. Duty and honour aside, we must get on if we’re to secure our chances of overthrowing Salvador.
SUSAN
Do you have something in mind, grandfather?
IAN
Yes, how are we going to overthrow this Salvador wherever he is?
JAMIE
Don’t forget, we’ve got that Francesca lass to worry about.
ZOE
As well as Daleks, Sontarans and Autons.
DOCTOR 3
(reassuringly) Don’t worry; everyone. We’ll have it worked out.
DOCTOR 7
What we need is access to zone five where the remainder of our other selves and friends are.
NYSSA
Yes. Billy and I would like to know what’s become of our Doctor.
BILLY
Absolutely. I’ve got his coat to give back to him. He’ll be missing it.
DONNA
And I need to see Spaceman again. See what mischief he’s been up to.
DOCTOR 4
That’s settled then. Nyssa, Billy and Donna will accompany whichever Doctors are going into zone five. I’ll volunteer of course.
DARBY
I’ve got your back, Doctor. You’re not going anywhere without me.
PERI
We’ll come too. Won’t we, Doctor?
DOCTOR 6
Yes, the more the merrier.
DOCTOR 8
Two Doctors won’t be enough. Jen and I had better come along. (to Jen) Alright with that, Jen?
JEN
Oh, I’m definitely coming. Sticking with you is about as sane as I’m going to get.
DOCTOR 9
We’ll come too, won’t we, Rose?
ROSE
Absolutely. Where you go, Doctor, I go.
DOCTOR 2
(pleased) Well, I’m so glad we’re sorted on who’s going to zone five.
OSGOOD
I’ll have the portal gateway to zone five open for you Doctors. I need to go downstairs for that. Captain Yates; Sergeant Benton, you accompany me?
MIKE
Of course, Miss Osgood.
BENTON
We’ll give you covering fire, miss, should we come across trouble.
OSGOOD
The rest of you Doctors and friends. You come and help too.
DOCTOR 1
Anything we can do to assist you, my dear, we’ll be happy to oblige.
IAN
We might as well pitch in with whatever needs to be done, right, Barbara?
BARBARA
I’d like to help in any way I can, yes.
JO
So would I. I’m not chickening out at a time like this.
JAMIE
Neither are me and Zoe.
DOCTOR 7
What about you, Ace? Are you coming?
ACE
(moodily) Yeah, I suppose so. It’s just… Aww, I so wanted to get into zone five and perhaps blow some stuff up with my Nitro-Nine.
NYSSA
We’ll look forward to seeing you when you join us, Ace.
BILLY
Yeah. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on the party.
BRIGADIER
Kate, Magambo and I will accompany you Doctors and your friends to central ops. We’ll have Magambo’s soldiers to give us cover should we hit any trouble.
MAGAMBO
My soldiers are armed and ready, sir.
KATE
Yates; Benton, take some soldiers with you. They can protect you and your group in the portal gateway control room.
MIKE
Understood, ma’am.
BENTON
(barks) Right, you five. Move yourselves.
Five soldiers obey at Benton’s command.
DOCTOR 2
Well, let’s get started then. We all have our tasks.
BRIGADIER
(barks) Those going to central ops, follow me and Kate!
The Brigadier leads the way, with Kate, Magambo, the Fourth, Sixth, Eighth and Ninth Doctors, Nyssa, Billy, Donna, Darby, Peri, Jen and Rose following him.
MIKE
(barks) The rest of us going downstairs, follow Benton, Osgood and me.
Mike, Benton and Osgood lead the way, with the First, Second, Third and Seventh Doctors, Susan, Ian, Barbara, Jamie, Zoe, Jo and Ace following them.
SCENE #158 – INT – QUANTUM TUNNEL, MAELSTROM – N/A
Back in the quantum tunnel within the maelstrom, the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Yaz, Dan, Amy, Rory and Bill are coming to the end of their journey.
DAN
(realises; cheers) Doctors! I see the end of the tunnel! We’re nearly there!
YAZ
(relieved) About time. I wasn’t sure how long we could keep up with running slowly like this.
BILL
We’d better get through and out of here quickly. The Zygons…
RORY
(interjects) Yeah. Those Zygons are too close for comfort.
AMY
There’s a corridor on the other side of where we need to be.
DOCTOR 11
(cries) Hold tight, everyone. This may be an unpleasant and bumpy ride.
DOCTOR 10
We don’t want to fall out of the quantum tunnel and into the maelstrom by mistake.
DOCTOR 5
I suggest we hold hands to keep together.
DOCTOR 12
We’re about to cross through. It’ll be like running through jelly. Hold hands and off we go!
Everyone holds hands. The Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Yaz, Dan, Amy, Rory and Bill scream as they go through the end of the tunnel, which bubbles away. The Zygons on their tail continue to pursue them.
SCENE #159 – INT – CORRIDOR, ENEMY BASE – N/A
Once through, the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors and their friends find themselves in a corridor aboard where they need to be.
DOCTOR 11
(pleased; cheers) Aha! Here we are at last! And all in one piece! That’s reassuring.
DOCTOR 5
The portal we emerged from. It’s still wide open.
YAZ
(realises) Doctors, that computer terminal. It’s like the one you used in the temple.
DAN
It must be for the portal we came out of. (urgently) Quickly, Doctors! Close the portal!
AMY
Yeah, we mustn’t let the Zygons join us.
RORY
(urgently) They’re almost about to come through!
BILL
(urgently) Come on, Doctors, hurry!
DOCTOR 12
(impatiently) We’re hurrying, Bill, we’re hurrying!
DOCTOR 10
Now, if we all apply our sonics to the computer terminal like so.
The four Doctors take out and apply their sonic screwdrivers at the computer terminal. The sonic screwdrivers buzz away crazily, whilst the Zygons snarl and growl from inside the portal as they approach.
KOSOL
(distorted; from inside portal) We’re nearly there, comrades! We’ve almost arrived.
STROMOS
(realises; distorted; from inside portal) They’re about to close the portal, Commander. We must hurry!
AMY
(cries; anxiously) Doctors, close the portal now!
YAZ
(anxiously) They’re not going to close it in time.
DOCTOR 11
(agitated) We’ll close it in time, alright!
Thankfully and eventually, the portal closes in time before the Zygons can get through.
KOSOL
(screams; enraged) NO!!!
Commander Kosol’s enraged scream echoes before the portal is closed. A moment of silence before the four Doctors and their friends sigh with relief.
DOCTOR 5
(pleased) There! Nicely done, Doctors.
DOCTOR 10
That was cutting a bit fine, wasn’t it?
DOCTOR 12
Definitely a close shave. Those Zygons could have given us a nasty sting.
RORY
So, now we’re here and safe from the Zygons, where do we go next?
DAN
Where is here exactly?
BILL
We must be inside the box building on the rock we saw from outside.
AMY
(disorientated) Strange. When we were in the quantum tunnel, there were times the box building was a distance away. Yet here we are. Almost like we made a big leap to be here.
DOCTOR 11
That’s your perception readjusting back to the way it was, Amy. When we were in the quantum tunnel, our perception of reality became distorted. It plays tricks on the minds should we be in an area outside Space and Time for far too long.
RORY
Is that the radiation part you Doctors were talking about? Is it affecting us now?
DOCTOR 5
Partly, but thankfully, we haven’t been exposed to too much radiation whilst inside the quantum tunnel. Otherwise we would have had our minds affected severely.
DOCTOR 12
A huge relief. No-one wants to walk around going ‘goo-goo-gaga’ whilst we’re trying to find a way out of this mess.
YAZ
What about our Doctor? Can we find her here?
DAN
Are you able to use your temporal trackers to locate her?
DOCTOR 5
That’s a good point. Let’s take out our temporal trackers, Doctor.
DOCTOR 10
Molto bene.
The Fifth and Tenth Doctors take out their temporal trackers from their coat pockets and switch them on to scan the area. The temporal tracker bleeps loudly once they’ve been switched on.
DOCTOR 10
(realises) Ooh! Oh, now that’s quite high, isn’t it?
AMY
What is it? What are your temporal trackers saying?
DOCTOR 5
There’s a high concentration of temporal energy particles in the corridor we’re in.
YAZ
Could those temporal energy particles belong to our Doctor?
DOCTOR 10
Possibly. The trail seems to suggest that she went down this corridor.
RORY
So, we follow the trail and hopefully it should lead us to Yaz and Dan’s Doctor.
BILL
Bear in mind that it might not be their Doctor who’s left that trail. It could be someone else.
DAN
Yeah, good point, Bill. It could belong to whoever is in control of this place.
DOCTOR 11
Nevertheless, it’s a starting point. We shouldn’t lose that opportunity while we’re here.
DOCTOR 12
Indeed not. (Pause) I suppose you two Doctors had better lead the way with your temporal trackers.
DOCTOR 5
Come along. You, Doctor, lead the way.
DOCTOR 10
No, Doctor, you lead the way first.
YAZ
I’ll let you two go in front of me. (Pause; whispers; to Dan) I just hope we’ll be able to find our Doctor whether this trail leads to her or not.
DAN
(whispers) I hope so too, Yaz. We can’t let our luck run out on us.
The Fifth and Tenth Doctors lead the way, with their temporal trackers bleeping away loudly in their hands. Yaz, Dan, the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Amy, Rory and Bill follow.
SCENE #160 – INT – CONTROL ROOM, ENEMY BASE – N/A
In the control room of his base, Salvador watches the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors and their friends on a monitor screen, as they make their way in the corridor. The Valeyard is nearby.
VALEYARD
(pleased) They’ve taken the bait. They’re following the trail of temporal energy particles.
SALVADOR
(gratified) And they’re under the impression that the Doctor we’ve acquired went down that corridor.
VALEYARD
The Doctor we’ve acquired will inform them of our existence.
SALVADOR
True. But by the time we reveal ourselves, they will have already been captured in the Sphere Room for our purposes.
Salvador chuckles away, as he and the Valeyard look on.
SCENE #161 – INT – CENTRAL OPS ROOM, U.N.I.T. HQ – N/A
Back in U.N.I.T. HQ, the Brigadier, Kate, Magambo and her soldiers are about to enter the central ops room with the Fourth, Sixth, Eighth and Ninth Doctors, Nyssa, Billy, Donna, Darby, Peri, Jen and Rose accompanying them. They stop in their tracks, as they see two Sontarans on guard.
KATE
(whispers) Father, we need to paralyse the two Sontarans on guard before we can get into central ops. We have to do it quietly and avoid raising the alarm.
BRIGADIER
(whispers) Agreed. (Pause; thinks) Doctor – the one in the multi-coloured scarf. May I acquire the services of your companion? Private Darby, is it?
DOCTOR 4
(whispers) Yes of course, Brigadier. I’m sure he’ll be happy to help.
DARBY
(whispers) Absolutely! What would you like me to do, sir?
Darby makes his way over to the Brigadier.
BRIGADIER
(whispers) That weapon you have. The laser pistol.
Darby takes out his laser pistol from his holster.
DARBY
(whispers) Yes, sir. What about it?
BRIGADIER
(whispers) Can it be switched to silent to take out an enemy?
DARBY
(whispers) Yes, sir. I’m of the Seventh Division of Space Fleet nine-twenty. Your future, that is. I know how to use a weapon like this.
BRIGADIER
(whispers) Have you tackled Sontarans, Private?
DARBY
(whispers) Yes, sir.
BRIGADIER
(whispers) Very good. Two Sontarans to the right. Directly at their probic vents. Five rounds rapid.
DARBY
(whispers; eagerly) With pleasure, sir.
Darby aims his laser pistol at the two Sontarans at their probic vents. He soon fires five shots. Once struck, the two Sontarans hiss and wheeze. They collapse to the ground. A moment of silence before the Brigadier, Kate, Magambo, her soldiers, the four Doctors and their friends come out of hiding.
BRIGADIER
Splendid! Well done, Private.
DARBY
Not at all. My honour, sir.
DOCTOR 4
I should inform you, Brigadier, that I don’t utilise Darby’s military abilities all the time. Just when necessary. Guns aren’t something I approve of.
DARBY
(slightly annoyed) Thanks, Doctor. You had to ruin the moment.
KATE
Magambo, have some of your soldiers guard the entrances in central ops. The Daleks, Sontarans and Autons are likely to come out and attack at any moment.
MAGAMBO
Understood, ma’am.
KATE
You and the rest of your soldiers keep watch on us.
MAGAMBO
Right, ma’am. (barks) You four, follow me. Guard the north-west area.
As Magambo leads some of her soldiers to guard certain areas of the central ops room…
NYSSA
We should make tracks to enter zone five. First, we’ll have to check zone five’s activity to assess what’s become of the Doctors and their friends in that area.
KATE
That was our objective too, Mrs. Walker. Perhaps you would care to access a computer terminal to assess what we need to know about zone five before anyone can go in. It would be much appreciated.
NYSSA
Of course.
BILLY
I’ll help you out, dear. I can be an extra pair of eyes.
NYSSA
Thank you, Billy.
DONNA
I’ll help too. I have excellent temping skills to spot the hidden details.
Nyssa sits at a computer terminal with Billy and Donna helping her.
PERI
So, basically, we go into zone five; join the other Doctors and friends, and find out what’s going on with this hullabaloo place before we get outta here.
DOCTOR 6
Exactly, Peri. Provided they haven’t got into too much trouble, which is quite likely.
JEN
But if this Salvador person is as dangerous as everyone claims, aren’t we taking a big risk in throwing ourselves at the deep end?
DOCTOR 8
Possibly, Jen. But it’s important that we restore balance in the Universe by restoring the displaced spatial-temporal Earth locations in the interdimensional zones back to whence they came.
DOCTOR 4
Salvador must know the danger of extracting spatial-temporal Earth locations like that.
DOCTOR 9
Not that would bother him though. He’s always been hell-bent on disrupting reality the way it suits him in order to have a go at us.
ROSE
Does he really hate you that much, Doctor?
DOCTOR 9
Afraid so. (encouragingly) But we mustn’t be faint-hearted. We can do this. I know we can. (happily) After all, multiple mees with a lots of friends to help us out. How can we fail?
DOCTOR 4
To think that I’ll be making lots of friends in the future. I suppose it’s down to my charming personality.
DARBY
(knowingly) Not to mention your bonkers sense of humour, Doctor.
DOCTOR 4
(laughs) Oh yes, that too. Thank you, James.
Magambo returns.
BRIGADIER
Ah, Magambo. Are your selected soldiers on guard in central ops ready?
MAGAMBO
Yes, sir. Phillips and Khan are in charge of groups keeping watch on the east and west doors. Jenkins and three more troops are keeping watch on the north door. There’s no south door, but I’ll be on the lookout for south.
KATE
Very good. Well done, Magambo.
NYSSA
(interrupts) Doctors; everyone, we’ve found something.
KATE
(intrigued) Really, Mrs. Walker? What have you found?
NYSSA
We’ve checked the data in zone five. As you can see, the temporal signatures of the Doctors and their friends in zone five are absent.
BRIGADIER
Yes, we noticed that earlier. Does that mean they’ve permanently vanished? Have they been killed?
PERI
Oh, I hope they haven’t. I don’t want to think our efforts have been for nothing.
BILLY
(reassuringly) No, it doesn’t seem like they’ve been killed. According to these readings, there’s a trail leading out somewhere. Nyssa spotted the energy pattern of these particles displayed here.
Billy points to the points of light on the screen.
NYSSA
They must be temporal radiation particles. They belonged to the Doctors and their friends. They were in a central location – a temple, I believe. That’s what I’ve been able to deduce according to the visual information we have.
DONNA
In Africa and India apparently. So, wherever those Doctors and friends have gone, they must have found a way out. Perhaps a way out of this interdimensional network.
ROSE
(hopefully) Seriously? There’s a chance we can get out of here.
DOCTOR 9
Don’t get your hopes up, Rose.
DOCTOR 6
Indeed, not yet, young lady. There’s still a chance we may not be able to get out of this alive.
DOCTOR 8
But on the other hand, no matter how bleak things seem, there’s a slim chance we’ll survive.
Just then, Daleks and Sontarans enter.
COMMAND DALEK
(barks) EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!! EXTERMINATE!!!
STUKK
(barks) Destroy the Doc-tors and their associates! They must not be permitted to escape!
MAGAMBO
(barks) Soldiers at my command! Open fire!
BRIGADIER
(cries) Everyone, take cover!
As everyone takes cover, the Daleks open fire with their ray guns whilst the Sontarans open fire with their blaster rifles. Magambo’s soldiers fire back with their rifles. The Doctors and their friends hide behind computer consoles and desks in central ops whilst the battle goes on.
JEN
I don’t see any Autons. Is that a good or a bad thing?
ROSE
They could be behind the Daleks and Sontarans. They could come out at any moment.
DOCTOR 8
Indeed. So it’s best we don’t drop our guard, Jen. (calls) Keep alert, everyone.
KATE
Magambo, keep us covered. You and your soldiers hold the fort.
MAGAMBO
Understood, ma’am. (barks) Soldiers, keep at it! The Brigadier, Miss Stewart, the Doctors and their friends must be protected at all costs.
Magambo’s soldiers obey as they keep up the fight, firing their rifles at the Daleks and the Sontarans attacking them.
DARBY
I must help too! I’ve still got some charge left in my laser pistol.
DOCTOR 4
No, James! We need you to help us in zone five. Keep your head down.
Darby ignores the Fourth Doctor, as he gets up from the floor.
DOCTOR 4
(angrily) No, James, NO!!!
DARBY
(cries) Take this, you twerps! Nobody messes with Private James! The greatest and smartest Darby!
Darby laughs out loud, as he opens fire at the Daleks and Sontarans with his laser pistol. Some of the Daleks and Sontarans get gunned down easily once Darby shoots at them.
DARBY
(laughs) This is too easy!
DOCTOR 4
(groans) Must you get so cocky?
SCENE #162 – INT – DEEP STORAGE, ENEMY BASE – N/A
Back with the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Yaz, Dan, Amy, Rory and Bill, they find themselves in a lower section within the box building on the rock in the maelstrom. The Fifth and Tenth Doctor’s temporal trackers continue to bleep loudly as they go.
DAN
So, where are we now, Doctors?
DOCTOR 10
This must be a deep storage area for this box building.
DOCTOR 5
Indeed. They must have a lot of cryo-chambers contained in this place.
BILL
(shivers) You don’t have to be Einstein to work that one out. It’s chilly here.
DOCTOR 12
Should have brought a warmer jacket, Potts.
BILL
(sarcastically) Thank you for pointing that out.
YAZ
What do your trackers say now, Doctors?
AMY
Yeah. Are we getting close to Yaz and Dan’s Doctor?
DOCTOR 5
The temporal energy signature seems to be strong in this area, according to both our trackers.
DOCTOR 10
Agreed. They tell us to keep going forward. So, forward we go.
The four Doctors and their companions continue going forward.
RORY
Shouldn’t we check these cryo-chambers? There could be people in them. Maybe we could help them out.
DOCTOR 11
I wouldn’t touch them, Rory. We don’t want to disturb anything.
DOCTOR 12
Besides, it’s likely nobody is inside these cryo-chambers, despite them being so steamed-up. This could be a wild goose chase.
BILL
Then again, one of these cryo-chambers could have Yaz and Dan’s Doctor inside.
AMY
(teasingly) We mustn’t rule out all possibilities, Doctor.
DOCTOR 11
(shrewdly) Thank you, Amy. Your words of wisdom are appreciated.
Eventually, they come to one of the cryo-chambers. The Fifth and Tenth Doctor’s temporal trackers continue to bleep loudly.
DOCTOR 5
Yaz; Dan. The trail of temporal energy particles our trackers have followed stops here.
DOCTOR 10
At this cryo-chamber. See if your Doctor is inside.
Yaz and Dan make their way forward to look inside.
YAZ
(realises; cheers) Doctor!
DOCTOR 10
Yes, Yaz, we’re here.
DOCTOR 5
Wait. Which Doctor was she talking to?
YAZ
No, no, I mean, our Doctor. We’ve found her! Look, Dan, we’ve found her!
DAN
(pleased; relieved) Yes, we have. She must be fast asleep inside this thing.
The four Doctors, Amy, Rory and Bill join Yaz and Dan to see the Thirteenth Doctor in her cryo-chamber.
AMY
Can we get her out?
DOCTOR 11
I don’t see why not. The cryo-chamber seems easy to unlock with a sonic screwdriver.
DOCTOR 12
(suspiciously) I wonder how she ended up like this.
DOCTOR 5
Let’s worry about that later.
DOCTOR 10
Indeed. Let’s rescue our future self first.
DOCTOR 11
Hopefully the damage that’s been done to her isn’t too severe.
DOCTOR 12
Quite. I wouldn’t like to think our future has been damaged beyond repair.
BILL
Better defreeze her first before freeing and waking her up.
RORY
Yeah. We don’t want to wake her up too soon in case of shock from being frozen.
YAZ
How long will it take to unfreeze her?
DOCTOR 5
(thinks) There should be a refrigeration unit at the back of this cryo-chamber.
The Fifth and Tenth Doctors go to the back of the cryo-chamber to check.
DOCTOR 10
(from a distance) Yep, there is. The heat level appears to be zero on these dials.
DAN
Can you alter that? Change the heat level to one, two or something.
DOCTOR 5
(from a distance) We’ll try. It’s just a simple matter of pushing one of these levers.
A moment of silence, as everyone waits to hear from the Fifth and Tenth Doctors.
DOCTOR 10
(cheers; from a distance) Yes, we’ve done it! We’ve pushed the heat level back up to one point five. Is anything happening back there?
Everyone looks to see the Thirteenth Doctor in her cryo-chamber.
DAN
No. Nothing seems to be happening at the moment.
YAZ
(realises) No, wait, Dan. Look, see? There’s a faint bit of colour in the Doctor’s cheeks.
Another moment of silence, as they see the Thirteenth Doctor unfreezing.
AMY
I think it’s working, Doctors. Yaz and Dan’s Doctor seems to be warming up.
DOCTOR 12
Excellent! Now all we have to do is get her out of that cryo-chamber.
DOCTOR 11
Happy to oblige. I’ll use my sonic screwdriver.
The Eleventh Doctor takes out his sonic screwdriver and applies it to the door of the Thirteenth Doctor’s cryo-chamber. Switching it on, the sonic screwdriver buzzes away. After a while, there’s a click and the door to the cryo-chamber swings open. The Eleventh Doctor switches off his sonic screwdriver and pockets it.
DOCTOR 11
(satisfied) There! She can come out now.
DOCTOR 12
(realises) Oh look. The cryo-chamber door swings open easily. What a novelty.
Yaz and Dan approach the Thirteenth Doctor in her cryo-chamber with Rory joining them.
RORY
I can help her with her recovery. I am a nurse.
DAN
Much appreciated, mate. (Pause) How long do you think she’s been in this thing, Yaz?
YAZ
Dunno. Hopefully, she’ll be able to tell us what happened to her when she wakes up.
At that moment, the Thirteenth Doctor groans.
BILL
She’s waking up. Good sign.
DOCTOR 10
(from a distance) We won’t be long back here. We’re checking the diagnostics of the refrigeration unit.
DOCTOR 5
(from a distance) We need to ensure nothing went wrong with the unfreezing process.
AMY
Seems to be going well so far.
Meanwhile, the Thirteenth Doctor comes to.
DOCTOR 13
(groans; disorientated) Yaz? Dan? My fam? Was that you two I just heard?
SCENE #163 – INT – PORTAL GATEWAY CONTROL ROOM, U.N.I.T. HQ – N/A
Back in U.N.I.T. HQ, Mike Yates, Benton and Osgood enter the portal gateway control room with soldiers, the First, Second, Third and Seventh Doctors, Ian, Barbara, Susan, Jamie, Zoe, Jo and Ace behind them.
OSGOOD
(relieved) Right, here we are. No Daleks, Sontarans and Autons here to worry about, thank goodness.
BENTON
I’m disturbed by that, Miss Osgood. Surely one of those three sets of monsters should be on guard.
MIKE
I agree with Benton. I would have thought they would consider this room important.
DOCTOR 1
Let’s be thankful there isn’t anyone to delay us, gentlemen. Right now, we must get on with what we came for before we rejoin the others.
IAN
All the same, Doctor, I think some of us should keep watch outside to make sure no Daleks, Sontarans and Autons come in here. I’ll go.
DOCTOR 1
(exasperated) Oh very well, my dear boy, but please be careful. We wouldn’t want to lose you, now would we?
BARBARA
I’ll join you, Ian.
JAMIE
Aye, me too.
ACE
And me. I can use my Nitro-Nine or perhaps my baseball bat for this occasion.
DOCTOR 7
Don’t use either unless absolutely necessary, Ace.
ACE
(shrugs) Yeah, yeah, I know. Try not to be too trigger-happy, I remember.
BENTON
We’d better help them too, sir.
MIKE
(barks) Right, you five soldiers with Osgood. Keep everyone in this room covered. The rest of you, accompany me and Benton. We’ll keep Mr. Chesterton, Miss Wright, Mr. McCrimmon and err…
ACE
Ace. Call me Ace.
MIKE
(continues) …Miss Ace. We’ll keep these four covered. (barks) Come on, be quick about it.
Obeying, the five soldiers with Osgood keep her, the First, Second, Third and Seventh Doctors, Susan, Zoe and Jo covered in the control room, whilst the rest join Captain Yates and Sgt. Benton to keep Ian, Barbara, Jamie and Ace covered at the entrance door. Osgood makes her way over to a computer terminal with the four Doctors, Susan, Zoe and Jo joining her.
OSGOOD
Give me a few moments. I need to set everything up with opening the portal gateway to zone five in central ops.
DOCTOR 2
We can help too, Miss Osgood.
ZOE
Indeed. I’m very good with computers.
JO
I’ll do whatever I can to help, yes.
SUSAN
And me. The rest of us can help, right, grandfather?
DOCTOR 1
Yes, yes, of course, my dear child, but we must be swift. Time is pressing.
DOCTOR 3
Shouldn’t you call the Brigadier and Kate to check up on how they are?
OSGOOD
If you’ll excuse me, I’ll contact them now.
DOCTOR 7
I imagine they’re having problems of their own.
