‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Green Death’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for Season 10 to come to an end. This is also where we say goodbye to the lovely Katy Manning as the equally lovely Jo Grant, as she makes her last regular appearance in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘The Green Death’, a six-part adventure. As well as Katy Manning as Jo, there’s also Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. ‘The Green Death’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Sea Devils’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Before the Sea Devils returned in the ‘Doctor Who’ Easter Special called ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ in April 2022, they made their debut in the ‘Doctor Who’ adventure called ‘The Sea Devils’, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. Roger Delgado also makes a return as the Master in this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure. This six-part adventure can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. The story will soon be re-released in the Season 9 Blu-ray box set, so watch out for that. 😀

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my current review for ‘The Sea Devils’. I’ve also reviewed the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who and the Sea-Devils’ by Malcolm Hulke, read by Geoffrey Beevers. Stay tuned for my updated Blu-ray review on ‘The Sea Devils’ coming soon to ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Colony In Space’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

For a while, we’ve had the Third Doctor being exiled to Earth by the Time Lords in ‘Doctor Who’. Here, in this fourth story of Season 8 of the classic TV series called ‘Colony In Space’, Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant go off on an adventure away from Earth, as they visit the planet Uxarieus where a human colony is being threatened by the Interplanetary Mining Corporation (IMC). Roger Delgado as the Master is involved too. A young Helen Worth (who would later play Gail Platt in ‘Coronation Street’) is also in this ‘Doctor Who’ story. 🙂 This six-part adventure can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Fury From The Deep’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is another ‘Doctor Who’ story from the Patrick Troughton era that is sadly missing from the BBC Archives. The six-part story has been animated in its entirety to be enjoyed on DVD and Blu-ray and can also be viewed on Britbox. The story stars Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Frazer Hines as Jamie and Deborah Watling as Victoria. This story also happens to be the last regular appearance of Deborah Watling as a ‘Doctor Who’ companion in the series. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Power of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s the third story in Season 4 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s the beginning of a new era with Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor. As Anneke Wills as Polly and Michael Craze as Ben get to know the new Doctor, he himself has to deal with the menace of the Daleks on the planet Vulcan (No, not the one from ‘Star Trek’ 😀 ). This story is now completely animated on DVD and Blu-ray, since all the episodes of the six-part story are currently missing. You can watch ‘The Power of the Daleks’ either on DVD, on Blu-ray, or on Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is a big one! It’s time to check out the epic 12-part ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’, starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor and Peter Purves as Steven. You can listen to ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’ soundtrack on audio CD or Audible, and you can watch the second, fifth and tenth surviving episodes of the story in the ‘Lost In Time’ DVD collection. The story also introduces us to Nicholas Courtney (before he became the Brigadier) as Bret Vyon, and Kevin Stoney (before he became Tobias Vaughn in ‘The Invasion’) as the villainous Mavic Chen. Adrienne Hill also appears as Katarina, following her debut in ‘The Myth Makers’. It also features the introduction of Jean Marsh as Sara Kindgom. The seventh episode is a Christmas episode, would you believe? 😀 And the eighth to tenth episodes also feature the return of Peter Butterworth as the Meddling Monk. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve at last seen the animation version of the ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘Fury From The Deep’, which was released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2020. ‘Fury From The Deep’ is the penultimate story of Season 5 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It also features the final regular appearance of Deborah Watling as Victoria Waterfield. Continue reading
