Let’s check out the second story in Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Curse of Peladon’, a four-part story by Brian Hayles, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. No Brigadier, Mike Yates, Benton and U.N.I.T. with them for this occasion, as the TARDIS takes the Doctor and Jo to the alien planet of Peladon, where its people are about to join the Galactic Federation. David Troughton guest stars as King Peladon whilst Geoffrey Toone guest stars as Hepesh, the High Priest of Peladon. There are the Ice Warriors who make an appearance in this ‘Doctor Who’ story as well as Galactic Federation delegates like Alpha Centauri and Arcturus. Continue reading

The time has come for ‘The Day of the Doctor’ by Steven Moffat – the 50th anniversary special of ‘Doctor Who’. This was shown on BBC TV on the 23rd of November 2013. It stars Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, Billie Piper as the Moment and John Hurt as the War Doctor. There are special guest stars like Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart, Ingrid Oliver as Osgood and Joanna Page as Queen Elizabeth I. The story also features the Daleks as well as the return of the Zygons, who previously appeared in their first TV story ‘Terror of the Zygons’. There are surprise guest cameos of Doctors and companions that a keen ‘Doctor Who’ fan would need to look out for. 😀 This is a ‘Doctor Who’ anniversary special that’s highly rated by the fans. Do I agree with that? Do I think that this is a better anniversary special than ‘The Five Doctors’, the 20th anniversary special? Does it cover everything that I want to celebrate about 50 years of my favourite TV show? We come now to what is considered a fan-favourite in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Even Janet Fielding who plays Tegan in the classic TV series likes this episode. This is ‘Midnight’, a ‘Doctor Who’ episode by Russell T. Davies. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is without Catherine Tate as Donna on the planet Midnight, as he takes a shuttle tour to visit a waterfall made of sapphires. There are special guest stars like Lesley Sharp as Sky Silvestry, Rakie Ayola as the Hostess, David Troughton (one of Patrick Troughton’s sons) as Professor Hobbes, Ayesha Antoine as Dee Dee Blasco, Lindsey Coulson as Val Cane, Daniel Ryan as Biff Cane, and Colin Morgan (well-known for playing Merlin in ‘Merlin’) as Jethro Cane. It’s time for us to conclude our look into ‘The Nest Cottage Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’. Today, we finish off this BBC audio series of Fourth Doctor adventures with the fifth and final story of the ‘Serpent Crest’ saga called ‘Survivors In Space’. This story stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Susan Jameson as Mrs. Wibbsey and Richard Franklin as Mike Yates.
