Season 25 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Sylvester McCoy on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the fourth and final story in Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. I’m glad we’ve reached this point in completing Season 25 of classic ‘Doctor Who’, as we look into ‘The Greatest Show in the Galaxy’, a four-part story by Stephen Wyatt, who previously wrote ‘Paradise Towers’ in Season 24. I’ve updated and extended my thoughts on the story, based on my revisit of ‘Greatest Show’ via the Season 25 Blu-ray box set. There are two versions of ‘Greatest Show’ on Blu-ray, including the original four-part story and the Special Edition version. With the Special Edition version however, ‘Parts One and Three’ are given the extended treatment along with brand-new CGI effects. Continue reading

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the third story in Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. Today, it’s time for ‘Silver Nemesis’, which is the actual 25th anniversary story of the season and it features the return of the Cybermen as well as featuring neo-Nazis, Lady Peinforte and Richard. I’ve updated and extended my thoughts on the story, based on my revisit of ‘Silver Nemesis’ via the Season 25 Blu-ray box set. ‘Silver Nemesis’ is a three-part adventure by Kevin Clarke. For the Season 25 Blu-ray box set, there are four versions of the story, including the original three-part story, the three-part Special Edition version, the 55-minute Special Edition omnibus version and the three-part extended VHS version from 1993. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, it’s time to check out the second story in Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Happiness Patrol’, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. I’ve updated and extended my thoughts on the story, based on my revisit of ‘The Happiness Patrol’ via the Season 25 Blu-ray box set. ‘The Happiness Patrol’ is a three-part adventure by Graeme Curry, who sadly passed away in 2019. Like ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’, there are two versions of the story on two discs in the Season 25 Blu-ray box set. There’s the original three-part story on Disc 3 and the three-part Special Edition version of ‘The Happiness Patrol’ on Disc 4. Continue reading

Season 25 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Sylvester McCoy on Blu-ray #1

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s taken me a while, but I’m at last checking out and sharing my updated reviews on Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. This is the 25th anniversary season of ‘Doctor Who’, which was shown from October 1988 to January 1989. The Blu-ray box set came out in October 2024, but I had to check out Seasons 15 and 20 on Blu-ray first before getting onto sharing my updated thoughts on the four stories in Season 25. Let’s begin out look into Season 25 by checking out ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’, a four-part story by Ben Aaronvitch, who makes his first contribution to the TV series. Continue reading

Season 9 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the third story in Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, it’s ‘The Sea Devils’, a six-part story by Malcolm Hulke, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. We return to Earth where the Doctor and Jo are helped, not by U.N.I.T. this time, but by the Royal Navy, led by Edwin Richfield as Captain Hart. The story features the return of Roger Delgado as the Master, who previously appeared at the end of Season 8 in ‘The Dæmons’ where he was arrested. ‘The Sea Devils’ is also a sequel to the Season 7 story ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’, where we met the Sea Devils’ land-based cousins. Quick TV Review – ‘Doctor Who: 60 Years of Secrets and Scandals’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

On Saturday the 25th of November, I saw the Channel 5 documentary ‘Doctor Who: 60 Years of Secrets and Scandals’ at 8:30pm. I found this a fascinating documentary put together by Channel 5, as it explores what went on in the TV show’s making – both classic and new – and the issues it had. 🙂 Continue reading
