Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the twelfth and final instalment of the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Old Flames’ by Paul Magrs. The story features the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane. It also features the ‘Doctor Who’ debut of Iris Wildthyme, a character who made her debut in three ‘Phoenix Court’ novels published by Vintage Books in the 1990s. She’s currently played by Katy Manning in the Big Finish audios. ‘Old Flames’ is read by Nicholas Courtney, who played the Brigadier in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and the Big Finish audios. As well as the twelfth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the sixth story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the second story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. Continue reading →

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the eleventh and penultimate story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Stop the Pigeon’ by Robert Perry and Mike Tucker. The story features the Seventh Doctor and Ace. It also features the Tremas Master, as played by Anthony Ainley, as well as a Krynoid and a talking pigeon. 😀 The story is read by Sophie Aldred, who plays Ace in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and the Big Finish audios. As well as the eleventh story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the fifth story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the fifth story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, it’s time to check out the tenth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories. I’m sharing my brand-new review on the short story called ‘Degrees of Truth’, which was originally featured as the fourth story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology, based on the 1998 book version of the ‘Short Trips’ anthology. Like ‘Vigil’, ‘Degrees of Truth’ is exclusive only to audio and was never printed in any book anthology since then. The story is by David A. McIntee and is read by Nicholas Courtney. It also features the Third Doctor and the Brigadier, and it tackles the death of one of the U.N.I.T. soldiers that was killed during the events of ‘The Dæmons’. Here we are on the ninth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Glass’ by Tara Samms, which is actually a pseudonym for Stephen Cole. The story features the Fourth Doctor and the second Romana, and is read by Sophie Aldred. As well as the ninth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the third story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the seventh story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. Today, we’re taking a look at the eighth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Model Train Set’ by Jonathan Blum. This story features the Eighth Doctor only and is read by Sophie Aldred, who plays Ace in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and the Big Finish audios. As well as the eighth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the second story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the first story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. Here we are on Easter Tuesday today. It’s time to check out the sixth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories. Here’s my brand-new review on ‘Vigil’, the third and final story in the ‘Out of the Darkness’ audio anthology, featuring the Sixth Doctor and Peri. The story is by Michael Collier, which happens to be a pseudonym of Stephen Cole, a regular ‘Doctor Who’ writer in books and audios. ‘Vigil’, read by Nicola Bryant, is quite unique, as it’s the only audio story exclusive in the ‘Out of the Darkness’ anthology, since it was never printed in any book anthology like ‘Moon Graffiti’ and ‘Wish You Were Here’ were. I found ‘Vigil’ a fascinating audio story to check out in ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’. Continue reading →

As promised, here’s my brand-new in-depth review on an Easter film, which I first saw on Disney+ last year. It’s time to check out the 2004 film ‘Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo’. This is the first time I’ve done an in-depth review on a ‘Winnie the Pooh’ film, especially one featuring Pooh and his friends in the Disney sense. This is following on from my quick reviews on ‘Winnie the Pooh’ films produced by Disney like ‘The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh’, the 2018 film ‘Christopher Robin’, ‘Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search For Christopher Robin’ and of course ‘Springtime with Roo’.
