Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Yes! We’re back with Season 20 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series! After checking out Series 15 of the new TV series with Ncuti Gatwa, it’s time to pick up where we left off with our look into Peter Davison’s second season as the Fifth Doctor. Today, we’re checking out the fifth story called ‘Enlightenment’. It’s also the third story of ‘The Black Guardian Trilogy’. ‘Enlightenment’ is a four-part adventure by the late Barbara Clegg. This is his first and only contribution to the TV series. The story is directed by the late Fiona Cumming, who previously directed ‘Snakedance’. ‘Enlightenment’ stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Strickson as Turlough. Valentine Dyall returns for his third appearance in Season 20 and we have the return of Cyril Luckhman as the White Guardian, who previously debuted in ‘The Ribos Operation’ in ‘The Key to Time’ season (Season 16). I’m currently putting together my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter in March and April and I’m working on ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ set of short stories. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Twin Dilemma’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are at the end of Season 21 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s also the beginning of a new era in ‘Doctor Who’, as we’re introduced to Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor. He’s joined by Nicola Bryant as Peri in this four-part adventure by Anthony Steven called ‘The Twin Dilemma’. This story also features special guest stars like Maurice Denham, Kevin McNally and Edwin Richfield. Over the years, ‘The Twin Dilemma’ is regarded as the worst ‘Doctor Who’ story ever made. Do I agree with that viewpoint? ‘The Twin Dilemma’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Earthshock’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is the first classic TV series ‘Doctor Who’ story that I discovered after checking out the first two seasons of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series back in 2006. It’s time for us to check out ‘Earthshock’, a four-part story by Eric Saward. In this story, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric find themselves tackling against the ‘shocking’ return of the Cybermen. This story also features the departure of Adric as a ‘Doctor Who’ companion. Not all will be plain-sailing in this adventure. 😦 ‘Earthshock’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox.
