Audiobook Review – ‘Doctor Who and the Planet of the Daleks’ (1995)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve checked out and reviewed the 1995 abridged audiobook of the Target novelization ‘Doctor Who and the Planet of the Daleks’ by Terrance Dicks, read by Jon Pertwee, who plays the Third Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’. The audiobook is included in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS, Volume Two’ collection via Audible. The story features the Third Doctor and Jo Grant as well as the Daleks. Continue reading

‘Beast Wars’ Review #10 – ‘A Better Mousetrap’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Back in October 1998, I saw the tenth story/eleventh episode of the ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ TV series on the Thursday of the half-term week via GMTV called ‘A Better Mousetrap’. This is a Rattrap-focused episode where he plays a prank on Dinobot, causing the Maximals’ base’s defence grid called Sentinel to go haywire. Rattrap does all he can to switch off the defence grid before it causes more trouble. Meanwhile, Optimus Primal and Tigatron investigate the mysterious presence of Waspinator, who’s been circling in an area close to the Maximals’ base. It’s been great revisiting this ‘Beast Wars’ episode, especially as I’ve fond memories of it when I first recorded it on VHS back in October 1998. Continue reading

Last weekend, I had a great time attending the ‘Bury Comic Con’ in June 2025. Bury is a market town on the River Irwell in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, Greater Manchester, England. I got there from Cardiff via train to Manchester and then via tram to Bury itself. 🙂 Continue reading

Quick Conversation with Sarah Sutton at ‘Bury Comic Con 2025’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Last weekend, I attended the ‘Bury Comic Con’ on the 29th of  June 2025 and saw Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor) and Janet Fielding (Tegan) – three of my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars. I planned to record an interview with Sarah about her ‘Doctor Who’ debut as Nyssa in ‘The Keeper of Traken’. Sadly, that wasn’t to be, as it turned out to be very busy that day. 😦 Hopefully, I’ll get to conduct the interview with Sarah at a future comic con event. Continue reading

This includes my reaction to the announcement of his return in ‘Wish World’ and my reaction to his reveal in ‘The Reality War’. Both reactions come from my Quick Reactions videos on ‘Wish World’ and ‘The Reality War’ respectively. Continue reading

‘Beast Wars’ Review #9 – ‘Gorilla Warfare’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out ‘Gorilla Warfare’. And no, that’s not the ‘Dad’s Army’ episode of the same name. 😀 It’s the ninth ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ story as well as the tenth episode in the series. In the episode, Optimus Primal and Dinobot get attacked by Scorponok who fires a Cyberbee on Optimus, which attaches itself to his chest and makes him go berserk like the Incredible Hulk. 😀 I saw this episode in the half-term week of October 1998, but sadly didn’t get to record it on VHS. I later owned the episode in ‘The Beginning’, Volume 2 VHS as well as in the 15th anniversary ‘Beast Wars’ DVD box set. Will the Maximals get to save Optimus in this episode? Continue reading

Novelization/Audiobook Review – ‘Doctor Who and the Planet of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve recently checked out the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who and the Planet of the Daleks’ by Terrance Dicks, based on the ‘Doctor Who’ TV story by Terry Nation, which was shown from April to May 1973. This story features the Third Doctor and Jo teaming up with the Thals on the planet Spiridon, as they tackle the deadly Daleks. I’ve enjoyed the Target novelization via its 1992 edition with cover art by Alister Pearson. I read the book with the 2013 unabridged audiobook read by Mark Gatiss, who is well-known for writing ‘Doctor Who’ episodes in the new TV series and has played characters like Professor Lazarus in ‘The Lazarus Experiment’ and the Captain in ‘Twice Upon a Time’. Nicholas Briggs also provides the voice of the Daleks in the unabridged audiobook. Continue reading

In case you missed it yesterday, I’ve updated my review on ‘The Five Doctors’, the seventh and final story of Season 20 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. In doing so, I’ve updated my review on ‘Messages From Space’, a DVD special feature included on the ‘Doctor Who Magazine’ 40th anniversary disc for ‘The Collection’ range of classic ‘Doctor Who’ Blu-ray box sets. This is now included on Disc 8 of the Season 20 Blu-ray box set containing the 40th anniversary edition version of ‘The Five Doctors’. I’ve shared my review of it on the ‘Logopolis’ page, as that special feature was originally meant for that TV story. Continue reading
