As it’s Good Friday tomorrow, it’s a good time to revisit two dramatised productions of the story of Jesus Christ and the wonderful miracles he performed. The two productions of Jesus’ story that I’ve reviewed include the 1977 TV mini-series ‘Jesus of Nazareth’, starring Robert Powell as Jesus, and the 1999/2000 animated film ‘The Miracle Maker’, featuring Ralph Fiennes as the voice of Jesus. The Easter weekend is nearly upon us! It’s the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ this year and we’re currently checking out the Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor era. As such, for this year’s Easter review season, let’s check out the BBC audio series ‘The Nest Cottage Chronicles’. All 15 audios of it! It’s the fifth and final story of Season 12 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. We end Tom Baker’s first season of ‘Doctor Who’ by taking a look at ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’, a four-part adventure. As well as Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, there’s also Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. This is one of my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories from the Tom Baker era and it was the first Fourth Doctor TV story I checked out on DVD in 2006. It’s a well-loved classic. This is ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, a six-part story starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. As well as the Daleks, this story also introduces us to their creator Davros, played by Michael Wisher. ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading
