Season 2 of ‘Doctor Who’ with William Hartnell on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, we’re on the third story in Season 2 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series on Blu-ray. It’s time for ‘The Rescue’, a two-part story that introduces Maureen O’Brien as Vicki, a new ‘Doctor Who’ companion who joins William Hartnell as the First Doctor, William Russell as Ian and Jacqueline Hill as Barbara in the TARDIS. This story also features special guest star Ray Barrett as Bennett. Ray Barrett is well-known for voicing John Tracy and the Hood in ‘Thunderbirds’. There’s also the monster-like Koquillion, played by Sydney Wilson. 😀 Will the Doctor, Ian and Barbara help Vicki when she and Bennett are terrified of Koquillion after crash-landing on the planet Dido? Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Okay, let me be clear about something. I love the first ‘Daleks’ story with William Hartnell, William Russell, Jacqueline Hill and Carole Ann Ford in ‘Doctor Who’. It’s one of the best William Hartnell/First Doctor era stories in the classic TV series. One I’ll happily revisit on DVD and Britbox. 🙂 Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’, so why not? 😀 To commemorate the day that I first met Sarah Sutton at the ‘Fifth Element’ event back in February 2010, I’ve decided to review ‘The Doctor Who Cookbook’ by Gary Downie, which was originally published back in 1985. This has been a treat of a ‘Doctor Who’ book to review. 🙂 Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to take a look at the only ‘Doctor Who’ episode from the classic TV series to not feature William Hartnell as the First Doctor, even though he is credited in the cast list. This is ‘Mission to the Unknown’, which serves as a prelude to the 12-part epic story ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’. There are two versions of this story. There’s the original, which can be heard on its TV soundtrack on an audio CD or via Audible, and there’s a new version of the story produced by the students of the University of Central Lancashire, which can be viewed on the ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel.
