Page Update – ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

For those of you new to ‘Bradley’s Basement’, I’ve been sharing my ‘Doctor Who’ fan-fiction stories featuring the Fifth Doctor, as played by Peter Davison in the classic TV series, in ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ series. There’s also Nyssa of Traken (played by Sarah Sutton) and Billy Walker (played by me 😀 ). I’ve updated my page on ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ to connect to ‘Doctor Who by Tim Bradley’ on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. The four sections featured in ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ include ‘Before the Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’, ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ series itself, ‘Beyond the Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ and ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley (Unbound)’. I’ve yet to share ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’, which will feature the Fifth Doctor, joined by his companions Nyssa and Billy. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’ve had quite a number of exciting ‘Doctor Who’ announcements recently, haven’t we? They’re for some new ‘Doctor Who’ merchandise items that are coming our way like a new Blu-ray box set and new ‘Doctor Who’ books. And you’re probably wondering whether I’ll be reviewing any of them. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Two Doctors’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story from the Colin Baker/Sixth Doctor era. It’s time for us to enjoy a multi-Doctor story that’s not an anniversary special. Today, we’re looking at ‘The Two Doctors’, a three-part 45-minute episode story by Robert Holmes. This story stars Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. It also features the return of Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and Frazer Hines as Jamie. There are also the potato-headed Sontarans and the story introduces a new race of aliens called the Androgums, including ‘Blake’s 7’s Jacqueline Pearce as Chessene and John Stratton as Shockeye. There’s a sunny atmosphere about this story, as some of it takes place in Seville in Spain. ‘The Two Doctors’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Season 21 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Season 21 is quite an unusual ‘Doctor Who’ season in the classic TV series. It’s Peter Davison’s third season as the Fifth Doctor, but it ends with Colin Baker introduced as the Sixth Doctor in ‘The Twin Dilemma’. Usually, the new Doctor’s introduction is saved for the next season, not at the end of one. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Caves of Androzani’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Season 21 isn’t over yet, but it’s time for the Peter Davison/Fifth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ to come to an end. It’s time for ‘The Caves of Androzani’, a four-part story by Robert Holmes. This is rated as possibly the best ‘Doctor Who’ story ever made in the entire TV series. Is this something I agree with? In the story, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri visit the planet Androzani Minor, where they step into some raw spectrox and start to die from it. Can the Fifth Doctor save Peri in time from the poisonous effects of the deadly spectrox? There are some special guest cameos of Janet Fielding as Tegan, Mark Strickson as Turlough, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric, Kamelion, voiced by Gerald Flood, and Anthony Ainley as the Master in the story. ‘The Caves of Androzani’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ by Eric Saward, the fourth story in Season 21 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Originally, this story was meant to be a four-part adventure before it became a two-part bumper edition story, with the episodes having lengths of 45 minutes each. The story has Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor fighting against the Daleks, along with their creator Davros, played by Terry Molloy. This story also features the final regular appearance of Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka. Mark Strickson also appears as Turlough, and there’s a special guest star appearance of Rodney Bewes, who was in ‘The Likely Lads’ and ‘Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads’. ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Frontios’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s the third Season 21 story of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, and we have the return of Season 18 script editor (as well as the writer of ‘Logopolis’ and ‘Castrovalva’) Christopher H. Bidmead writing for the Fifth Doctor again. It’s time for ‘Frontios’, a four-part story where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Turlough as Turlough visit the planet Frontios where the woodlice-like Tractators are waiting. The story also features guest stars like Jeff Rawle, Peter Gilmore, Lesley Dunlop and William Lucas. ‘Frontios’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Awakening’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the second story of Season 21 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, we’re taking a look at ‘The Awakening’, a two-part story by Eric Pringle, where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Strickson as Turlough visit the English village of Little Hodcombe in the year 1984. There, Tegan tries to reunite with her grandfather, Andrew Verney, whilst a psychic alien creature called the Malus attempts to take control of the villagers in some deadly reenactments of the English Civil War. ‘The Awakening’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Warriors of the Deep’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on Peter Davison’s third and final season as the Fifth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ – Season 21. The season ends with a peculiar entry, but we’ll get to that eventually. We begin Season 21 with ‘Warriors of the Deep’, a four-part story by Johnny Byrne, featuring the return of the Silurians and the Sea Devils. This story also introduces the Myrka. Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor is joined by Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Strickson as Turlough. Does this story start the season off on a good note? 😐 ‘Warriors of the Deep’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Season 20 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Whilst Season 19 is my favourite season out of the Peter Davison/Fifth Doctor era, Season 20 is arguably my second favourite season. I acknowledge that Season 20 had its problems, particularly in the production values affected by industrial action, but I enjoyed this season more than Season 21. 🙂 Continue reading
