Tim Bradley’s Convention Memories and Reports – 2010-2023

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

To celebrate Sarah Sutton’s birthday today, I’ve put together a list of all the conventions I’ve attended over the years from 2010 to 2023, which includes ‘Doctor Who’ conventions, multi-purpose conventions and a ‘Star Trek’ convention. You can check out my ‘convention memories’ blog posts and my convention reports by clicking on the images below. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Time of the Doctor’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the final adventure of the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’. This is ‘The Time of the Doctor’, the 2013 Christmas Special by Steven Moffat, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. It’s the fourth Christmas Special to feature Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. The special also has Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Sontarans, the Silence and plenty more monsters to finish off the Eleventh Doctor. There’s Orla Brady (who I’ve seen more recently in the ‘Star Trek: Picard’ series) as Tasha Lem, and there are guest stars like Sheila Reid (who was in ‘Vengeance on Varos’) as Clara’s Gran. Tessa Peake-Jones (well-known for being in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and she would go on to be in ‘Grantchester’) makes a small guest role in the special as Marta. There’s also a couple of guest cameos, including a past face and a new face in ‘Doctor Who’. 😀 Will this be a satisfying swansong of a ‘Doctor Who’ adventure for Matt Smith’s Doctor? Can a single Christmas Special conclude the Eleventh Doctor era entirely on a worthwhile note? ‘The Time of the Doctor’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on a ‘Doctor Who’ episode in the new TV series that gets to delve deeper into the TARDIS. This is ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ by Steve Thompson, who previously penned ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’ in Series 6 of the new TV series. In the episode, the TARDIS gets hit by a salvage ship’s magnetic tractor beam, which causes a lot of damage to the ship’s engines. Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor forces the salvage crew to help him rescue Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, when she gets lost in the depths of the sentient space and time machine. This episode features special guest star Ashley Walters as Gregor van Baalen. I’ve seen Ashely Walters in the 2006 film adaptation of ‘Stormbreaker’. Apparently, this episode is based on showrunner Steven Moffat’s frustrations with ‘The Invasion of Time’, which intended to explore the TARDIS’ interior. Does this episode excite me enough as a ‘Doctor Who’ fan when our heroes delve deeper into the TARDIS? ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Angels Take Manhattan’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out ‘The Angels Take Manhattan’ by Steven Moffat. This is the fifth episode in Series 7 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and it’s the final episode of what I would label as the Pond Season in the first half of Series 7. This is Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill’s last regular appearance as Amy Pond and Rory Williams, who have been loyal companions for Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’. In this episode, the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory visit Central Park in New York in the year 2012 before they get swept up in a deadly adventure involving the Weeping Angels on the planet Earth in the year 1938. They’re joined by Alex Kingston who returns as River Song in the episode. Will I find this Weeping Angels episode better than ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ from Series 5? Will it match in similar quality to ‘Blink’ from Series 3? And will this be a very satisfying and emotional departure for Amy and Rory as ‘Doctor Who’ companions? ‘The Angels Take Manhattan’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the first two-part story in Series 5 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ by Steven Moffat, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure features the return of Alex Kingston as River Song, who was last seen in the Series 4 two-parter ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’. There’s also the return of the Weeping Angels, who made their first appearance on TV in the Series 3 episode called ‘Blink’. There’s also Iain Glen (who I’ve seen in the 1999 BBC TV production of ‘Wives & Daughters’) as Father Octavian. Is this, for me, another exciting and thrilling ‘Doctor Who’ adventure featuring the Weeping Angels, or do I think ‘Blink’ is better than this two-part story? ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Convention Memories – ‘H-Con’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for me to share my memories of seeing Sarah Sutton (Nyssa) and Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor), my two favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars at a convention together. I first met Peter Davison at the ‘Project Motor Mouth 2’ convention, organised by Janet Fielding back in Slough in August 2013. 🙂 Continue reading

Convention Memories – ‘Timeless Collectors’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to share the last set of ‘convention memories’ I have for 2014. This was a special treat for me, as I got to attend a little convention, also called a sci-fi fair, in Fareham in December 2014 run by the organiser called the Timeless Collectors or the Sci-Fi South Collectors. I got to see Sarah Sutton before Christmas that year, which was very exciting. 🙂 Continue reading

It’s the last episode of the Matt Smith era of ‘Doctor Who’ and it all takes place on the planet Trenzalore where the Doctor dies. Join the Doctor and Clara as they embark on this Christmas Special facing Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Weeping Angels, the Silence and the like. Will our heroes survive? Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here is a fan-pleasing episode of ‘Doctor Who’ in the new series. This is ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ by Steve Thompson. I enjoyed this episode and how it explored more of the TARDIS with the Doctor and Clara. Mind you, I didn’t watch this episode on its original transmission via TV as I saw it on DVD instead.
