Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Happy New Year everyone! 🙂 And on the 1st of January 2026, it’s time for the final instalment of the latest ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season of ‘Doctor Who’ stories, which I’ve shared from December 2025 to January 2026. It’s time for the BBC Children’s Books adventure called ‘Doctor Who in Wonderland’ by Paul Magrs, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough, which is set between ‘Mawdryn Undead’ and ‘Terminus’. I’d been meaning to read this story for the 2024 to 2025 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season when the book was published in July 2024. I wasn’t able to find the time to check out the book, but thankfully, I’ve been able to find time and read the book for the 2025 to 2026 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season. Continue reading →

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the twelfth and final instalment of the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Old Flames’ by Paul Magrs. The story features the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane. It also features the ‘Doctor Who’ debut of Iris Wildthyme, a character who made her debut in three ‘Phoenix Court’ novels published by Vintage Books in the 1990s. She’s currently played by Katy Manning in the Big Finish audios. ‘Old Flames’ is read by Nicholas Courtney, who played the Brigadier in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and the Big Finish audios. As well as the twelfth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the sixth story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the second story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. Continue reading →

It’s Easter Saturday today, and the 2024 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season continues as we check out the second ‘Short Trips’ anthology book of ‘Doctor Who’ published by the BBC called ‘More Short Trips’, released in March 1999. It’s Good Friday today, and we’re continuing the 2024 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season by checking out the first ‘Short Trips’ anthology book of ‘Doctor Who’ published by the BBC, which was released in March 1998. It’s time for us to conclude our look into ‘The Nest Cottage Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’. Today, we finish off this BBC audio series of Fourth Doctor adventures with the fifth and final story of the ‘Serpent Crest’ saga called ‘Survivors In Space’. This story stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Susan Jameson as Mrs. Wibbsey and Richard Franklin as Mike Yates. Today, it’s time for ‘Sepulchre’, the fifth and final story of ‘Demon Quest’ by Paul Magrs, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and Susan Jameson as Mrs. Wibbsey. This story also features Nigel Anthony as the Host and Carole Boyd as the Old Friend. Will I find this a satisfying conclusion to ‘Demon Quest’ compared to the first four audio episodes?
