I’m currently putting together my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter in March and April and I’m working on ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ set of short stories. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

On the 1st of November 2023, before I went away for my weekend to attend the ‘Scarborough Comic Con’, I saw two items to celebrate 60 years of ‘Doctor Who’. These were originally shown on BBC Four, and I caught up with them on BBC iPlayer. I found these very nice celebrations to check out. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Dimensions In Time’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Does this count as a proper ‘Doctor Who’ story? 😐 I don’t know, but I’m going to include it in my 60th Anniversary Marathon anyway. It’s time for ‘Dimensions In Time’, the 30th anniversary story that was released on Children In Need night back in November 1993. It’s a two-part adventure by John Nathan-Turner and David Roden, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor, Sophie Aldred as Ace, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Deborah Watling as Victoria, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Caroline John as Liz, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane, Louise Jameson as Leela, K-9, voiced by John Leeson, Lalla Ward as Romana, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Nicola Bryant as Peri and Bonnie Langford as Mel. I’ve updated my review slightly with new photos, thanks to the latest video on ‘Dimensions In Time’ by Critical Penguin, which you can check out on YouTube. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Survival’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the fourth and final story of Season 26 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is also the last story of the Sylvester McCoy/Seventh Doctor era as well as the last story of the original 1963-1989 TV series. It’s time for ‘Survival’, a three-part adventure by Rona Munro, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. This story has the Doctor taking Ace home to Perivale in the year 1989 and it also features the return of Anthony Ainley as the Master. There are also the Cheetah-People with their leader Karra, played by Lisa Bowerman (who would go on to play Bernice Summerfield in the Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’). ‘Survival’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the third story of Season 26 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘The Curse of Fenric’, a four-part story by Ian Briggs, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. The Doctor and Ace visit a British naval installation near Maiden’s Point on the Northumberland coast during World War II, where Ace gets to uncover more about her past. There’s also the appearance of the vampiric-like Haemovores. This story also features special guest star Nicholas Parsons as Reverend Wainwright. ‘The Curse of Fenric’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. I highly recommend checking out the movie-length Special Edition version of this story, which is on DVD and Blu-ray. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Ghost Light’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to talk about the second story in Season 26 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘Ghost Light’, a three-part adventure by Marc Platt, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. The story takes place at a haunted mansion in Perivale called Gabriel Chase in the year 1883. There are special guest stars like Ian Hogg, Michael Cochrane, Sharon Duce, Frank Windsor, Sylvia Sims, etc. There are two viewpoints on how this story is rated. One that praises this story highly and the other that doesn’t get what the story’s about. Which viewpoint am I siding with? ‘Ghost Light’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the fourth and final story of Season 25 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, it’s time for ‘The Greatest Show In The Galaxy’, a four-part story by Stephen Wyatt, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. The TARDIS duo visit the Psychic Circus, where we meet Ian Reddington as the Chief Clown, T. P. McKenna as Captain Cook, Jessica Martin as Mags, Chris Jury as Deadbeat, and many more. This is another ‘Doctor Who’ story that has been highly rated by the fans. Am I one of those fans who likes ‘The Greatest Show In The Galaxy’ or is it rather underwhelming? ‘The Greatest Show In The Galaxy’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Silver Nemesis’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Whilst ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ is one of the stories of the 25th anniversary season of ‘Doctor Who’ – Season 25 – it’s not the actual anniversary story to celebrate 25 years of the show. It’s actually ‘Silver Nemesis’, a three-part adventure by Kevin Clarke, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. The TARDIS duo find themselves up against Neo-Nazis, Lady Peniforte and Cybermen, when on a quest to search for a living metal statue called Nemesis. Is this a worthy anniversary story to celebrate 25 years of ‘Doctor Who’, or do I think ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ is better? ‘Silver Nemesis’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading
