It’s time to check out the seventh and final story in the Season 20 Blu-ray box set of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, it’s time for the 20th anniversary special ‘The Five Doctors’ by Terrance Dicks, directed by Peter Moffat. This ‘Doctor Who’ story was shown in November 1983 and it features the first five Doctors (technically). ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Midnight’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come now to what is considered a fan-favourite in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Even Janet Fielding who plays Tegan in the classic TV series likes this episode. This is ‘Midnight’, a ‘Doctor Who’ episode by Russell T. Davies. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is without Catherine Tate as Donna on the planet Midnight, as he takes a shuttle tour to visit a waterfall made of sapphires. There are special guest stars like Lesley Sharp as Sky Silvestry, Rakie Ayola as the Hostess, David Troughton (one of Patrick Troughton’s sons) as Professor Hobbes, Ayesha Antoine as Dee Dee Blasco, Lindsey Coulson as Val Cane, Daniel Ryan as Biff Cane, and Colin Morgan (well-known for playing Merlin in ‘Merlin’) as Jethro Cane. Whilst people rate this ‘Doctor Who’ episode very highly, do I share the same opinion? ‘Midnight’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

In this two-part story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna visit a planet-sized library called the Library. 😀 There, they meet Alex Kingston as River Song, who makes her first ‘Doctor Who’ appearance in the new TV series. She’s part of a team of archaeologists, including Steve Pemberton as Strackman Lux, Talulah Riley as Miss Evangelista, Jessika Williams as Anita, O. T. Fagbenle as Other Dave and Harry Peacock as Proper Dave. The Doctor, Donna, River and the others have to survive, since the shadows in the Library contain the vicious alien Vashta Nerada. ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Blink’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on what I consider to be the best ‘Doctor Who’ episode ever written by Steven Moffat in the original Russell T. Davies era. It’s time for ‘Blink’, an episode that introduces the Weeping Angels in ‘Doctor Who’. The episode stars Carey Mulligan as Sally Sparrow, who uncovers a mystery at an old house. She discovers David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor via Easter Eggs on a DVD. He happens to be trapped in the year 1969 with Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones. Can Sally help the Doctor and Martha out of the time trap they’re in whilst having to contend with the Weeping Angels in the year 2007? ‘Blink’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the two-part finale in Series 2 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – David Tennant’s first season as the Tenth Doctor. This ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’ by Russell T. Davies features the last regular appearance of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, along with Camille Coduri as Jackie, Rose’s mum; Noel Clarke as Mickey, Rose’s former boyfriend, and Shaun Dingwall as Pete, Rose’s dad. This ‘Doctor Who’ story is a pretty emotional season finale, and it also features the return of two popular ‘Doctor Who’ monsters battling each other, including the Cybermen and the Daleks. There’s also the introduction of the Torchwood Institute, led by Tracy-Ann Oberman as Yvonne Hartman. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure also features Freema Agyeman, who appears way before she played Martha Jones in Series 3, as Adeola Oshodi, Martha’s cousin. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the first two-part story in the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, and it’s the story that features the return of the Cybermen in the new TV series. This is ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ by Tom MacRae, and it’s a pretty compelling story where I got introduced to the Cybermen in 2006 and found them terrifying on my first watch. 😀 In the story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, Billie Piper as Rose and Noel Clarke as Mickey end up in a parallel universe. There are parallel universe versions of Rose’s parents – Camille Coduri as Jackie, Rose’s mum and Shaun Dingwall as Pete, Rose’s dad. There’s also Roger Lloyd-Pack as John Lumic – the head of Cybus Industries and the creator of the new Cybermen on parallel Earth. 😮 ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer.
