Season 9 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee on Blu-ray #4

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the fourth story of Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for us to check out ‘The Mutants’, a six-part story by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. In this adventure, the TARDIS takes the Doctor and Jo to the planet Solo during the Earth Empire period of the 30th century. The Doctor has to deliver a spherical pod to someone that could provide the key to Solos’ future. The story features guest stars like Paul Whitsun-Jones as the villainous Marshal and Garrick Hagon as Ky, a Solonian who is against the Earth Empire’s (or ‘Overlords’ as the Solonians call them) presence on Solos. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out the 2007 ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. This is ‘Voyage of the Damned’ by Russell T. Davies, where the Doctor visits the starship Titanic. He meets Kylie Minogue as Astrid Peth, a waitress serving aboard the Titanic who might become the next ‘Doctor Who’ companion. This Christmas Special features a plethora of special guest stars like Geoffrey Palmer as Captain Hardaker, Russell Tovey as Midshipman Alonso Frame, Andrew Havill as the Chief Stewart, Gray O’Brien as Rickston Slade, Debbie Chazen as Foon Van Hoff, Clive Rowe as Morvin Van Hoff, Clive Swift as Mr. Copper, Jimmy Vee as Bannakaffalatta and there’s the debut of Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott. In Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, the first story away from Earth is ‘The Curse of Peladon’. Today, we take a look at the second story in Season 9 that’s away from Earth called ‘The Mutants’, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. Can the Doctor and Jo solve the mystery of the planet Solos and the Mutts? Sadly, no X-Men can help them in this six-part story? 😀 ‘The Mutants’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. It’s time for the second story of Season 7 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series! 🙂 Today, we’re looking at ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’, a seven-part adventure, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Caroline John as Liz Shaw and Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier. In this story, we begin the ‘Beneath the Surface’ saga where the Third Doctor encounters the Silurians in some caves in England. ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’ can be checked out on DVD as well as on Britbox.
