Season 9 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the third story in Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, it’s ‘The Sea Devils’, a six-part story by Malcolm Hulke, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. We return to Earth where the Doctor and Jo are helped, not by U.N.I.T. this time, but by the Royal Navy, led by Edwin Richfield as Captain Hart. The story features the return of Roger Delgado as the Master, who previously appeared at the end of Season 8 in ‘The Dæmons’ where he was arrested. ‘The Sea Devils’ is also a sequel to the Season 7 story ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’, where we met the Sea Devils’ land-based cousins. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Pirate Planet’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come to one of my favourite stories in ‘The Key to Time’ season (Season 16) of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘The Pirate Planet’, a four-part adventure by Douglas Adams, who is well-known for being the author of ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. This story stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Mary Tamm as Romana, and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. The TARDIS trio end up on the planet Zanak, as they try to locate the second segment of the Key to Time and they come up against Bruce Purchase as the Pirate Captain. This story inspired me to create the atmosphere for my ‘Fifth Doctor’ adventure called ‘The Space Hotel’. 😀 ‘The Pirate Planet’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

As well as Katy Manning as Jo, there’s also Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. ‘The Green Death’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Sea Devils’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Before the Sea Devils returned in the ‘Doctor Who’ Easter Special called ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ in April 2022, they made their debut in the ‘Doctor Who’ adventure called ‘The Sea Devils’, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. Roger Delgado also makes a return as the Master in this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure. This six-part adventure can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. The story will soon be re-released in the Season 9 Blu-ray box set, so watch out for that. 😀

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my current review for ‘The Sea Devils’. I’ve also reviewed the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who and the Sea-Devils’ by Malcolm Hulke, read by Geoffrey Beevers. Stay tuned for my updated Blu-ray review on ‘The Sea Devils’ coming soon to ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Day of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s begin Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with a Dalek story. 🙂 This is ‘Day of the Daleks’, a four-part story starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. I highly recommend checking out the Special Edition version of the story on the 2-disc DVD release, since that has impressive CGI effects and impressive Dalek voices by Nicholas Briggs. The Special Edition version of ‘Day of the Daleks’ is also available on Britbox, which is fantastic. 😀 The story will soon be re-released in the Season 9 Blu-ray box set, so watch out for that. 😀 Continue reading
