Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

At this point in time, many of you will have seen the first two episodes of the new ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off series ‘The War Between the Land and the Sea’. As I write this review, I’ve yet to see the episodes. I’ll be sharing a general overview of the series later this month. 🙂 Continue reading

Season 9 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the third story in Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, it’s ‘The Sea Devils’, a six-part story by Malcolm Hulke, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. We return to Earth where the Doctor and Jo are helped, not by U.N.I.T. this time, but by the Royal Navy, led by Edwin Richfield as Captain Hart. The story features the return of Roger Delgado as the Master, who previously appeared at the end of Season 8 in ‘The Dæmons’ where he was arrested. ‘The Sea Devils’ is also a sequel to the Season 7 story ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’, where we met the Sea Devils’ land-based cousins. DVD Review – ‘The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby’ (2001)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, I’m sharing my second to last review from the days when I used to do reviews on Amazon.co.uk. Over the years, I’ve transferred my old Amazon reviews and updated them for ‘Bradley’s Basement’. When my final Amazon review will be shared on my blog remains to be determined. It’s likely I’ll be sharing that review sometime in 2025 for ‘Bradley’s Basement’s 10th anniversary. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Hell Bent’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the season finale of Series 9 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is also the third and final episode of the three-episode story arc that depicts the end of Series 9. It’s time for us to check out ‘Hell Bent’ by Steven Moffat, starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. There’s the resolution of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald and her death in Series 9 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. There’s also the return of the Time Lords and Gallifrey. This means the episode has special guest stars like Donald Sumpter as Rassilon, the Time Lord President – previously played by Timothy Dalton in ‘The End of Time’. There’s also Ken Bones as the General, who made his debut in ‘The Day of the Doctor’ and he soon regenerates into T’nia Miller in the episode. There’s the return of Clare Higgins as Ohila, who previously appeared in ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’, and there’s the final appearance (for now) of Maise Williams as Ashildr. The story arc featured throughout Series 9 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series has been about the mysterious Hybrid. Is the story arc resolved in a satisfying manner in this episode? ‘Hell Bent’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

‘Jesus of Nazareth’ & ‘The Miracle Maker’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

As it’s Good Friday tomorrow, it’s a good time to revisit two dramatised productions of the story of Jesus Christ and the wonderful miracles he performed. The two productions of Jesus’ story that I’ve reviewed include the 1977 TV mini-series ‘Jesus of Nazareth’, starring Robert Powell as Jesus, and the 1999/2000 animated film ‘The Miracle Maker’, featuring Ralph Fiennes as the voice of Jesus. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Sea Devils’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Before the Sea Devils returned in the ‘Doctor Who’ Easter Special called ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ in April 2022, they made their debut in the ‘Doctor Who’ adventure called ‘The Sea Devils’, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. Roger Delgado also makes a return as the Master in this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure. This six-part adventure can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. The story will soon be re-released in the Season 9 Blu-ray box set, so watch out for that. 😀

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my current review for ‘The Sea Devils’. I’ve also reviewed the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who and the Sea-Devils’ by Malcolm Hulke, read by Geoffrey Beevers. Stay tuned for my updated Blu-ray review on ‘The Sea Devils’ coming soon to ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Wheel In Space’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the season finale of Season 5 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘The Wheel In Space’, a six-part adventure that is sadly mostly missing from the BBC Archives. Only two episodes of this six-part story have survived – ‘Episodes Three and Six’. The story stars Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and Frazer Hines as Jamie. The story also introduces Wendy Padbury as Zoe, a new companion, and it features the return of the Cybermen. ‘The Wheel In Space’ can be checked out on audio CD or as a download from Audible. The two surviving episodes of the story can be seen in the ‘Lost In Time’ DVD collection. The story can be seen in full with reconstructions of the four missing episodes and the two surviving episodes on Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Hell Bent’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s the season finale of Series 9 and the last episode of the three-episode story arc in ‘Doctor Who’. It’s time for ‘Hell Bent’ and it features the Doctor’s return back to Gallifrey? But was the Doctor’s return to Gallifrey worthwhile? Did Clara really die? Is Ashildr the so-called hybrid? My review details the confusion I have. 😀 Continue reading
