Blu-ray Special Feature Review – ‘Time Trap’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Happy Birthday Sarah Sutton!

To commemorate Sarah’s birthday today, I’ve found the complete behind-the-scenes making-of documentary of ‘Castrovalva’, the first story of Peter Davison’s era of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Time Trap’, which was originally exclusive on Disc 1 of the Season 19 Blu-ray box set. I first saw this documentary back in December 2018 over the Christmas period. Continue reading

Christopher H. Bidmead (1941-2005), Nabil Shaban (1953-2005) & Prunella Scales (1932-2005)

Hello everyone 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

I’d like to pay tribute to three people that we sadly lost this year – Christopher Hamilton Bidmead, Nabil Shaban and Prunella Scale. I never got to meet these three in real life, sadly, but I have enjoyed their contributions to certain TV shows I’ve watched many times. Continue reading

I’m very happy to be doing another ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for the Christmas period from December 2024 to January 2025, and to check out the latest stories featuring Nyssa of Traken, my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion, as played by Sarah Sutton in the TV series and Big Finish audios. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s the third Season 21 story of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, and we have the return of Season 18 script editor (as well as the writer of ‘Logopolis’ and ‘Castrovalva’) Christopher H. Bidmead writing for the Fifth Doctor again. It’s time for ‘Frontios’, a four-part story where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Turlough as Turlough visit the planet Frontios where the woodlice-like Tractators are waiting. The story also features guest stars like Jeff Rawle, Peter Gilmore, Lesley Dunlop and William Lucas. ‘Frontios’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Kinda’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The third Season 19 story of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is actually the first story of the ‘Mara Tales’ saga. Today, it’s time for us to take a look at ‘Kinda’, a four-part story by Christopher Bailey. Whilst Sarah Sutton as Nyssa is recovering in the TARDIS from the end of ‘Four To Doomsday’, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric explore the planet Deva-Loka, where they discover that all is not as it seems. ‘Kinda’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Castrovalva’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, we begin the Peter Davison/Fifth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ and we come to my favourite season from the classic TV series – Season 19. To start off, let’s take a look at ‘Castrovalva’, a four-part story by Christopher H. Bidmead. In the story, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor is recovering from his recent regeneration, but he has Sarah Sutton as Nyssa and Janet Fielding as Tegan to help him out. Meanwhile, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric has been captured by Anthony Ainley as the evil Master. ‘Castrovalva’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Logopolis’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And thus ‘the moment has been prepared for’, as we come to the finale of Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series as well as the end of the seven-year Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor era. Today, it’s time for ‘Logopolis’, a four-part story by Christopher H. Bidmead. This story introduces us to Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka, an Australian air hostess who accidentally joins Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric aboard the TARDIS. It also features the return of Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, who becomes a proper ‘Doctor Who’ companion here, as well as the return of Anthony Ainley as the evil Master. ‘Logopolis’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on my favourite story out of Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for us to check out ‘The Keeper of Traken’, a four-part story by Johnny Byrne, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. It also introduces us to my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion – Sarah Sutton as Nyssa of Traken. This story also features the Melkur, voiced by Geoffrey Beevers and we’re introduced to Anthony Ainley as Tremas, Nyssa’s father. ‘The Keeper of Traken’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Warriors’ Gate’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’ve come to the end of ‘The E-Space Trilogy’, but not the end of Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘Warriors’ Gate’, a four-part adventure by Stephen Gallagher, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana, K-9, voiced by John Leeson, and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. This is quite an unusual and mind-boggling story to check out in Season 18. Does it end ‘The E-Space Trilogy’ on a satisfying conclusion? This story also features the departure of Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 Mark II. ‘Warriors’ Gate’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.
