‘Tales From The TARDIS’ Review – ‘Glass’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the ninth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Glass’ by Tara Samms, which is actually a pseudonym for Stephen Cole. The story features the Fourth Doctor and the second Romana, and is read by Sophie Aldred. As well as the ninth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the third story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the seventh story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. Believe it or not, ‘Glass’ is a follow-up to the original ‘Doctor Who’ TV story ‘Shada’, which was completed in 2017 and 2021. Continue reading

‘Tales From The TARDIS’ Review – ‘Model Train Set’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, we’re taking a look at the eighth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories called ‘Model Train Set’ by Jonathan Blum. This story features the Eighth Doctor only and is read by Sophie Aldred, who plays Ace in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and the Big Finish audios. As well as the eighth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the second story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the first story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. I believe ‘Model Train Set’ is the only story in the first ‘Short Trips’ collection by the BBC to have an unabridged audiobook reading. Continue reading

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In this instalment of my latest Easter review season on ‘Bradley’s Basement’, we’re checking out the seventh story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories. It’s time for ‘Freedom’ by Steve Lyons, featuring the Third Doctor, Jo, the Brigadier, Sergeant Benton, U.N.I.T. and the Master, as played by Roger Delgado. The story is read by Nicholas Courtney and Sophie Aldred. As well as the seventh story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, it’s the first story in the ‘Short Trips’ audio anthology produced by the BBC. It’s also the sixth story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024.

‘Tales From The TARDIS’ Review – ‘Vigil’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on Easter Tuesday today. It’s time to check out the sixth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories. Here’s my brand-new review on ‘Vigil’, the third and final story in the ‘Out of the Darkness’ audio anthology, featuring the Sixth Doctor and Peri. The story is by Michael Collier, which happens to be a pseudonym of Stephen Cole, a regular ‘Doctor Who’ writer in books and audios. ‘Vigil’, read by Nicola Bryant, is quite unique, as it’s the only audio story exclusive in the ‘Out of the Darkness’ anthology, since it was never printed in any book anthology like ‘Moon Graffiti’ and ‘Wish You Were Here’ were. I found ‘Vigil’ a fascinating audio story to check out in ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Easter Monday today, and we’re continuing my latest Easter review season on the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories. Today, it’s time for the story ‘Wish You Were Here’ by Guy Clapperton, featuring the Sixth Doctor, and read by Colin Baker. This is the fifth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection. It’s also the second story in the ‘Out of the Darkness’ audio anthology and it’s the thirteenth story in the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection by the BBC. I reviewed the ‘Short Trips’ 1998 book collection in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. It’s been nice to revisit ‘Wish You Were Here’ in audio form in 2025. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Tales From The TARDIS’ Review – ‘Moon Graffiti’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Hope you’re enjoying Easter Sunday so far! Today in my Easter review season on the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories, I’m sharing my review on the story ‘Moon Graffiti’ by Dave Stone, featuring the Sixth Doctor and Peri, and read by Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant. As well as the fourth story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection, ‘Moon Graffiti’ is the first story in the ‘Out of the Darkness’ audio anthology, featuring the Sixth Doctor and Peri. It’s also the fourth story in the ‘More Short Trips’ book collection, which I reviewed in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter from March to April 2024. I didn’t think I’d be revisiting ‘Moon Graffiti’ and re-sharing my review on it so soon. 😀 Continue reading

‘Tales From The TARDIS’ Review – ‘Doctor Who – Attack of the Cybermen’ (1995)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Easter Saturday today! I know I shared this quite recently, but since this is the third story in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’ collection of ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories, there’s no harm in sharing it again today. It’s time to check out the 1995 abridged audiobook of the Target novelization ‘Doctor Who – Attack of the Cybermen’ by Eric Saward, read by Colin Baker. My review on the 1995 abridged audiobook has been added to my ‘Attack of the Cybermen’ page, which also contains a review of the TV story and on the Target novelization and the 2024 unabridged audiobook, read by David Banks. The story features the Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown as well as the Cybermen. Continue reading

‘Tales From The TARDIS’ Review – ‘Doctor Who and the Curse of Peladon’ (1995)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s that time again to share an Easter review season with you on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. To celebrate 10 years of ‘Bradley’s Basement’, I’ve decided to share my reviews on the ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories featured in ‘Tales From The TARDIS: Volume One’, which can be heard on Audible. Most of these audio stories I’ve reviewed already and a couple I’ve yet to share. Regardless, I hope you enjoy what I’ve to share from this ‘Doctor Who’ audio collection.

Season 20 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Peter Davison on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on what I consider to be a very significant story in Season 20 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, we’re checking out the fourth story of the season called ‘Terminus’, and it’s the second story of ‘The Black Guardian Trilogy’. ‘Terminus’ is a four-part story by Stephen Gallagher, who previously penned ‘Warriors’ Gate’ in Season 18. The story is directed by Mary Ridge, who previously directed six episodes of ‘Blake’s 7’. ‘Terminus’ is the final TV adventure to feature Sarah Sutton as Nyssa in ‘Doctor Who’. It’s a very special story for me, as it began what prompted me to go to ‘Doctor Who’ conventions and meet people like Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison, Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson who appear in this story. Valentine Dyall returns as the Black Guardian in this ‘Doctor Who’ story and there’s also the introduction of the Vanir and the Garm. Continue reading
