‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Earthshock’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is the first classic TV series ‘Doctor Who’ story that I discovered after checking out the first two seasons of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series back in 2006. It’s time for us to check out ‘Earthshock’, a four-part story by Eric Saward. In this story, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric find themselves tackling against the ‘shocking’ return of the Cybermen. This story also features the departure of Adric as a ‘Doctor Who’ companion. Not all will be plain-sailing in this adventure. 😦 ‘Earthshock’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Black Orchid’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to talk about my absolute favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story in the entire TV series. And yes, I know Peter Davison hates this story, but this is one of Sarah Sutton’s favourite stories, so that’s good for me. 😀 It’s time to check out ‘Black Orchid’, a two-part story by Terence Dudley. Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric visit Cranleigh Hall in 1925. The Doctor gets to play a cricket match and Nyssa, Tegan and Adric partake in a fancy dress ball. The story features guest stars like Michael Cochrane, Moray Watson and Barbara Murray. Sarah Sutton also plays Ann Talbot, a double of Nyssa in the story. ‘Black Orchid’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. Continue reading

We come to one of my favourite stories in Season 19 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘The Visitation’, a four-part story by Eric Saward, where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric and Janet Fielding as Tegan visit England in the year 1666. They meet Michael Robbins (of ‘On the Buses’ fame) as Richard Mace, and they work together to thwart the evil plans of the reptile-like Terileptils, who have come to cause trouble with the Great Plague and the Great Fire of London. ‘The Visitation’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

To close off our look into the Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ in the 60th Anniversary Marathon, it’s time for us to check out the third and final story of ‘The Quaddrigger Stoyn Trilogy’ by Big Finish called ‘Luna Romana’. Like ‘The Beginning’ and ‘The Dying Light’ before it, ‘Luna Romana’ was released to celebrate ‘Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary, albeit released in January 2014. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Warriors’ Gate’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’ve come to the end of ‘The E-Space Trilogy’, but not the end of Season 18 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘Warriors’ Gate’, a four-part adventure by Stephen Gallagher, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana, K-9, voiced by John Leeson, and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. This is quite an unusual and mind-boggling story to check out in Season 18. Does it end ‘The E-Space Trilogy’ on a satisfying conclusion? This story also features the departure of Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 Mark II. ‘Warriors’ Gate’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.
