Welcome to Season 13 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. For the first story of Season 13, we’re introduced to the Zygons, a new alien race for the Doctor and his friends to tackle. This four-part adventure also features Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith as well as the last regular appearance of Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. We start off with ‘The Time Warrior’, a four-part story by Robert Holmes. This story is significant for two major things. Firstly, it introduces us to Elisabeth Sladen as new companion Sarah Jane Smith. The 10th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’! 🙂 Today, we take a look at ‘The Three Doctors’, the first ‘Doctor Who’ story to feature more than one Doctor. As well as Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, we have the return of Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and William Hartnell as the First Doctor. There’s also Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. Um, didn’t we visit Atlantis in ‘The Underwater Menace’? 😀 Anyway, this is ‘The Time Monster’, a six-part adventure starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. Roger Delgado also makes another return as the Master in this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure. ‘The Time Monster’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Let’s begin Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with a Dalek story. 🙂 This is ‘Day of the Daleks’, a four-part story starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. I highly recommend checking out the Special Edition version of the story on the 2-disc DVD release, since that has impressive CGI effects and impressive Dalek voices by Nicholas Briggs. The Special Edition version of ‘Day of the Daleks’ is also available on Britbox, which is fantastic. 😀 The story will soon be re-released in the Season 9 Blu-ray box set, so watch out for that. 😀 Continue reading →
