And here we are on the sixth and final story of Season 15 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for an updated review on the six-part season finale ‘The Invasion of Time’ by David Agnew. The review was done by me and Timelord007 back in 2017. Today, we’re sharing our updated thoughts on the story, which sees Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor returning to Gallifrey, along with Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. The guest cast includes John Arnatt as Chancellor Borusa, Milton Johns as Castellan Kelner, Chris Tranchell as Andred and Hilray Ryan as Rodan. The story also features the mysterious Vardans, and the war-like Sontarans, led by Derek Deadman as Commander Stor. This story also features the departure of Leela and K-9 Mark I. Continue reading

Before we return to the Big Finish audio world tomorrow, let’s uncover today’s instalment of ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for December 2024 to January 2025 by checking out the BBC Audio Originals story of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Dark Contract’ by Will Hadcroft. The story features the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Adric and is a 70-minute audio episode. ‘Dark Contract’ is read by Matthew Waterhouse, who plays Adric in the TV series and the Big Finish audios. Yes! Today, I’m sharing this latest ‘Doctor Who’ review on the 23rd of November 2024, which is the 61st anniversary of the TV show since it began in 1963. And what better way to celebrate than by sharing a review on the first ‘New Series Adventures’ book featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby, called ‘Ruby Red’ by Georgia Cook. Just in case you missed it today, I’ve updated my review on the Target novelization/audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Time Monster’ by Terrance Dicks, based on the original TV scripts by Robert Sloman and producer Barry Letts. The story features the Third Doctor, Jo, the Brigadier, Captain Mike Yates, Sergeant Benton and U.N.I.T. as they come up against the Master and the god-like Kronos. And thus, we’ve come to the fifth and final story of Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor. Let’s finish our look into the season by checking out the six-part story ‘The Time Monster’ by Robert Sloman and producer Barry Letts. As well as Jon Pertwee, the story stars Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Roger Delgado as the Master, Richard Franklin as Captain Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. It’s time to round off our look into the Target novelizations/audiobooks of the 60th anniversary TV specials of ‘Doctor Who’ by checking out the third instalment called ‘The Giggle’, featuring the Fourteenth Doctor, Donna Noble, Melanie Bush, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, U.N.I.T., the Toymaker and of course the introduction of the Fifteenth Doctor. The novelization is by James Goss, based on the TV script by Russell T. Davies, and the audiobook is read by Dan Starkey, well-known for playing the Sontarans in the TV series and the Big Finish audios. Continue reading

Here I am, back with another review on one of the more recent Target novelizations/audiobooks of ‘Doctor Who’. It’s time for me to share my thoughts on the second of three Target novelizations/audiobooks on the three 60th anniversary specials of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Wild Blue Yonder’, featuring the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble. ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ is what I consider the weakest out of the three 60th anniversary specials of ‘Doctor Who’ by Russell T. Just in case you missed it yesterday, I’ve read and heard the Target novelization/audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘The Time Meddler’ by Nigel Robinson, based on the original TV scripts by Dennis Spooner. The story features the First Doctor, Vicki and Steven and they encounter the Meddling Monk. This happens to be Steven’s first adventure in the TARDIS following ‘The Chase’. The audiobook for ‘Doctor Who – The Time Meddler’ is read by Peter Purves, who played Steven Taylor in the TV series and continues to play him in the Big Finish audios. Continue reading

It’s time to check out the ninth and final story of Season 2 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Time Meddler’. This is a four-part story by Dennis Spooner, starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor, Maureen O’Brien as Vicki and Peter Purves as new companion Steven Taylor. In this story, our heroes visit Northumbria on the planet Earth in the year 1066. It’s a time where the Vikings are about to invade the home of the Saxons, and the Battle of Hastings is to take place in that year. But the Doctor discovers Peter Butterworth as the Meddling Monk, who’s about to tamper with the course with Earth’s history. Can our heroes uncover why the Monk is doing this? Is the Monk all he seems to be? How is it that the Doctor and the Monk know each other so well? Continue reading
